@tombee2 Streets fights are more unpredictable but that doesn't make prize fights not real. Prize fights are just as real as a street, just different. Have you ever competed in a prize fight like MMA or Kickboxing?
a Better way how to actually do the armbar where you'll actually get it is to simply grab the arm with both hands and to move your hips up and to the side.
I like to grab my bicep before he pulls high guard (as soon as he grabs my arm) just to be safe, if he switches to the other arm, I just switch with him. But this is one of the best defenses to the armbar from guard.
good defense but in a real situation, its extremely difficult to get out of a armbar because when your opponent gets you, it only takes a split second to get stretch out the arm forcing you to tap.
if it was that easy to get out of, people in mma would probably not use it very often ornot get too many wins wth that move
@metalhawj if it was only bjj.. i would say this would have a very high chance of working.. but yea mma would be different.. cuz the guy on top would be punching..
@Om0plata1 Yeah but still, its still really affective even if the dude is punching. What matters is the top guys posture, not if he's punching. If the top guy has bad posture its easy to armbar him. If the top guy has good posture, the bottom guy can't armbar him, regardles of whether the top guy is punching or not. And the only way for the top guy to punch is if he has good posture. Ya know what Im sayin?
It's something I use as well, but instead of putting the second hand on the knee, I put it in the back of the knee. Other than that, great escape, safed my behind in several situations.
he was able to do this By working with such legends of Muay Thai as Pud Pad Noi, Thom Harrinck and Gerard Fino which earned him the status of Canadian President of Muay Thai. In Brazilian jiu-Jitsu, he worked with other legends such as Royce Gracie, Rorion Gracie, Rickson Gracie and Renzo Gracie, not to mention the Machado cousins of the Gracie family. He even worked with Professor Dan Inosanto, who is part founder of the Bruce Lee fighting system, Jeet Kune Do
I would love to see this dude try this on BJJ guy like BJ Penn or someone like Babalu. I've seen Blackbelts sometimes have trouble getting out of an armbar its not that simple sometimes. And in that anything is possible and when it's not in slow motion you get oportunities to sweep , pass and transition so you try to avoid shit like this. This guy has sound advice but speed that shit up and show it in a reality aspect. And do it against someone who knows the ground game and not a practice dummy.
Try this same move but with your hand between your face and the guys back leg like dave camarillo position impossible. Doing it the with the hand outside grabbing his thigh is 50/50!
you can just keep your head above his,and swim your free arm in...stacking is sometimes risky because it gives him the option of going for a pendulum sweep IMO
The key to defending & getting out of an armbar is knowing seconds before that they are going for the arm.

ima use this one next time we do groundwork. I knew this technique by grabbing my wrist to stop him extending my arm, but the reversal is good.

That doesnt work if the guy with the ambar knows what to do, but is a basic way to survive.

what if the guy turns his face to the matt and extends his back?? how can u escape then???
rageinblast 2 years ago
at 1:47 when you escaped, you could have gauged his eyes then punch him.

well first if you were in a defense position, then yes, but that isnt allowed in mma and jui jitsu sports.

@N0LiMiT23 No because he'd leg triangle you. He'd have a black eye but you'd be out cold. Best way to deal with submissions is, obviously, jujitsu.

a video showing one way to POSSIBLY get out of an armbar. It works and the technique is excellently explained.

@metalhawj Agreed, I guess you would have to be half way in the arm bar in order to use this technique.

at 1:30 the guy on the bottom would roll to his left and finish the armbar from the mount position
