In all honesty I never fish this type of fly, however I was recently speaking to someone who fishes them often. He says the most productive method for him is during a hatch with a good rise. Fish it singly on a long leader and watch where the fl lands. Give it a wee tug to pull it under then watch that spot and strike at any rises in that area.
For me I just use the Ascending Midge Pupa whch is a video i filmed today and will upload tomorrow.
