BMW 540i VS MBZ E420 VS M3

I think the results are skewed little bit, I have E420 and this model has a computer which monitors "driving style" in order to optimize fuel efficiency which is much higher than the BMW. This means that the computer might decide for optimal fuel efficiency and driving patterns in the last 24 hours that it needs to shift much later than expected resulting it being slower . In order for the test to be accurate, he needs to shift directly from gear box and not really on the automatic transmission

@cyborg2k9 Well judgeing by the race his driving style is with the pedal to the floor.Also most cars computers do what you said its not just high end cars.I have a 95 540i an E34 not the E39 here.It still smokes my fathers W210 96 E320.The E34 is a tad bit slower than the E39.Now I know the E420 is a totally different animal compared to the E420.(I test drove one before I got the 540i).But I have the most confidence that the E34 will beat a E420.My choice in buying the car was mainly for speed.

1:1 .Camera is in the m3 against the 540 it should be clear enough for the last 3 rounds...also the 540 is 1 person only vs m3

i dont get it. bmw and mercedes weight about the same, and have abouts same amount of hp and torque. and bmw destroyed the e420... i do realize bmw is manual but still....

till 1995: 3.0L R6 24V (Torque: 305Nm)

after 1996: 3.2L R6 24V (Torque: 320Nm)

both engines got 240hp

1994-1995: M3 GT -->295 hp

1996-1999: M3 3.2 -->321 hp
