Apart from the Talent that allowed her to realise the Dr Who theme, she also had a Gift. This gift was her ability to use the silences in Music to create atmosphere. It's a lesson that we're STILL ignoring... It's the Breaks, the Gaps, the silences & delicate parts in a Track that Delia was a Master of; enabling her to create Multiple Layers of Dynamics.
And what do we have now? The Loudness War. One Dynamic. It's Pathetic don't you think?
well, nearly all modern music don't play with "volume" also. like classical music, you have creshendos, and decreshendos.... this is absent with modern alternative music (mostly)
Continuiing the series of prime numbers, a style 'too sophisticated for the BBC2 audience', what the ...???? I'm sure the listening audience would have appreciated it back then as much as now.
Such an interesting interview. I watched the radiophonic workshop series some years ago and was gripped by it.
Wow! She was a magician! I LOVE DOCTOR WHO, so fab!

Love that the radio station used the LP copy of Firebird. Sounds like she's singing in the background during the doo-doo parts.

She's a good composer;it's a shame Delia Derbyshire never got paid royalties for the brill Dr.Who theme, she definately deserved something for that.

absolutely amazing 'realiser', composer, splicer, sound engineer, and general door opener!
its such a shame she doesnt get the recognition she deserves :(
i dare anyone to listen to her on "the visitation" and tell me shes not amazing!
i didnt know about this stuff on youtube though, thanks loads for the upload.... never heard her speaking voice before!
it must have taken a massive amount of balls as well in the 60s to do an album behind the BBC's back at work lol fair play!
