Hey I see that you like Eric's work as I do. I'm trying to find the cord progression for his song, "Song for Dilla". I've went to Guitar center and they couldn't work it. It looks like a something. Just a beginner enjoying the sounds.
What's funny is how much I love Kraz but how wrong he was on the second two chords... The second one is an E flat MAJOR nine and the thrid is a B flat major six. Just sayin.
If they do know, then I saved them 3 minutes of their time. If they don't know, then they can put a name this common progression and recognize it else where. How is your comment helpful to anyone?
Well it just got you to explain it better, didn't it? People may not know that Rhythm changes literally means the changes from the standard. They may think you're saying rhythm guitar changes, like just a rhythm part.
Nah, it doesn't really matter. He's really good. But from an educational point of view it's probably best the chords were labelled correctly. But I agree, knowledge of theory seems to have little with how good you can play. There are some people who know their theory inside out but just can't swing/groove. And there are some people who are a bit hazy on the subject but are monster players!
Read what I say about three again. I said it would only be COMPLETELY TRUE if he was playing a Bb on the E string. The first four notes ARE a stack of fourths, but the interval between the penultimate note and the last note is a major 3rd (F-A), thus it is not simply a stack of fourths.
sorry, you're wrong - he's playing a minor 9, made more popular by blues players and yes james brown, you're thinking of of a sharp 9, like in purple haze, Kraz knows his stuff... he's correct.
hey g any chance of a little bit of tab to go along with those chords its a bit hard to make out the precise shapes on the video. if anyone else could help it would be cool. great video though, i look forward to more lessons from you and your friends man.
craz 's definitely good. Makes me think G. i dunno if ya ever heard of this guy called Keziah Jones ? He plays what he calls "Bluefunk". He's huge in France.

RE:That first m7th chord: You can also hammer-on your middle finger between the minor 3rd & the 2nd/9th.

Would have been better if the interviewers' mic was somewhere near Kraz so his "lesson" could be heard as he explains it.
Pretty cool, nonetheless...

Rhythm Changes. Just saved you 3 minutes of your time.

Yeah umm... if someone doesn't know what rhythm changes means, then your comment is worthless.

what kind of guitar is that?

Eric's a great guitarist but he makes a number of mistakes in this video:
1. The chord he says is a minor 9 at 1:08 is in fact a major9 (Ebmajor9).
2. The chord he says is a Bbmajor 9 at 1:28 is a Bb6.
3. The chord he says is a stack of fourths at 0:53 would only be completely true if he was playing a Bb on the E string, but he's playing an A.
The first two are big blunders, the 3rd not such a big deal. I'm guessing he's a bit rusty with the old theory.

You're wrong on three. It is a stack of fourths.

He's playing a dominant 9th, not a minor 9th.

I love Kraz. Yes he is one of THE best players in the world.
It's not what he does, its the way he makes you and the song feel.....
