  • Good Stuff, this is what I have been thinking.

  • What about goatein??? I heard its one of the only acceptable ones??

  • Ugh...Arguing/disagreeing with a vegetarian/vegan will get you no where...I don't mind them for the most part. It's cool that they are eating more healthier than the average person, but when they try to shove their anti-meat and false nutrition info on people is when it gets ridiculous.

  • @timmyxdl Could'nt of said it better my friend :)

  • I like how you've got everyone talking with this one sweety, it's great you really get us thinking about what is out there xxx :O)

  • If you do insist on using protein powders, I recommend rice (organic), e.g Living Fuel Rx. Another great video Jay. I loved the typo too!

MT is definitely the way forward.

    Keep sharing your gifts.

NB Health tip bit - If you're more alive than that which you're about to eat, you've got a smarter/better choice to make.

    With love

    Magnus

  • what about the sun warrior gmo-free brown rice protein? if you buy natural and blend it with a banana it'll taste fine and the ingredients will be: Banana, Whole brown rice protein (bio fermented raw sprouted whole grain brown rice protein).

  • I am a Raw foodie and I been using Raw Meal Replacement by Garden of Life for a few months. So for I have had no issues with it.

  • People ask me about protein powders often as well and I can't ever say I endorse one for the same reasons. Good video!

    Diane @ Balanced Bites

  • @balancedbites Thanks Diane! :)

  • TO CLEAR UP ANY CONFUSION: i think he meant "trypsin" not "tryptophan" as the protein inhibitor.

  • @microphonecheck1 D'OH. Your right - ive got no idea where tryptophan came from! :)

  • Hey whats up? Your right there are a lot of bad products out there. If one was to do the research you can find high quality, organic protein powders out there. All vegan too. I have found that soy, in moderation can be part of a healthy diet.

  • It's probably best to have a raw milk shake with added glutamine and perhaps to branch chain amino acids. Maybe a raw egg or two.

I definitely believe that post workout is best as a liquid then follow up with a solid food meal an hour or so later.

  • @wmike82 My views on protein have changed significantly since reading Brad Pilon's latest book on how much protein. We've been made to think we need so much protein, and must take post-workout shakes etc, when infact it makes no difference to muscle mass. The main factors are meeting the average requirements of good natural proteins, eating from across the spectrum of amino acids, and doing resistance training. Your body actually recycles existing amino acids too. It's all marketing !

  • @Kitty8Tim Spot on. Very well put M

  • @Kitty8Tim Thank you. I didn't have a full understanding on protein levels needed to be ingested and that amino acids recycle themselves. That is interesting!

  • @wmike82 Sorry, my friend. That is not correct. You do not need to supplement with shakes if you are eating high quality organic produce and meat. Your protein needs are met easily if you eat to your metabolic type.

  • so how about of hemp protein? whey protein is animal protein

  • so what do you suggest to consume instead? thanks

  • @xxXghislainXxx Wholesome organic grass fed beef!!! hehe theres nothing like it. Seriously find out your metabolic type and eat the right amount of organic animal meat to get your high quality protein :)

  • @WellnessMafia beef? that's not only sick but also evil

    sorry, i'm a vegetarian

    i don't eat dead animals ;)

  • @xxXghislainXxx its a shame you feel that way. I do not know your personal reasons for being a vegetarian but I personally do not share your views at all. I have researched it extensively and from every angle be it spiritual reasons, health reasons etc. You have free will to eat what you want but unfortunately you are designed to eat meat. Period. We are all designed to eat meat and plant life. I wont argue any further. Its a waste of time on both our parts but thank you for participating :)

  • @WellnessMafia if you get cancer, are you gonna fire up the bbq and have a steak or get some veggie juice and sprouts? You can say whatever you like when you are young and healthy. For me, meat is a waste of space I could have had more veg!

I agree with you on the protein powders tho, we just need enough protein for body repair and after that fat/carbs are better

  • @imnotabear Its a shame you feel that way. I could not disagree with you more. There isnt one argument that you gave me for not eating wholesome, organic raised meat. Not one. Im going to do a clip on this soon. You are not living to your potential by sticking to veg my friend. Im not sure of your personal reasons for being vegetarian but I have heard them all and its garbage. Thanks for participating though :)

  • I believe Mercola's miracle whey is 6lb for $100 - still expensive, but top quality in every aspect, from how its made to all ingredients, and so on... From the sounds of it.

  • @wmike82 Yes, it is a good protein. In my video I was generalizing and talking about the commercial protein powders. Mercolas is good but still no replacement for wholesome organic food :)

  • I think a high quality raw whey protein powder could be a healthy supplement. They definitely have their place in post workout nutrition.

Naturally they should contain only the whey, no added anythings.

  • @ConformityKiller Yes but they dont just contain whey. And as ive stated, its important WHERE the whey comes from. There is a select few protein supplements that good sources and people are discussing them here but only a few.

  • I found a whey protein shake called "Teras Whey" made with stevia and organic whey.

  • sounds great friend. I will check it out. Remember, its still no replacement for wholesome organic produce :)

  • Whats your opinion on Jay Robb protein and Naked Cowboy? those protein powders are made from grass fed/ non rgbh cows. they don't use any weird additives like soy,asparatame,etc.. i ONLY use these protein powders post workout 3 x a week. should i just eat alot of steak post workout(im a protein type)?

  • @topheramazz

Those are very good brands in my opinion. Other good brands are MRM and Defense Nutrition.

  • @topheramazz

The only problem with jay robb and other all natural proteins is that they are extremely expensive. A 5 lb. canister of jay robb isolate protein costs up to $137!

  • @topheramazz Yes, they are god protein shakes. I am aware of them. However, I would still urge you to consume organic meat instead. Just a question of being prepared with food, when you finish your workout. Eat to your metabolic type my friend. These shakes are good and only use them if you have to :)

  • @WellnessMafia

thanks mate.i'll try raw grass fed beef/ liver post workout. i eat that throughout the day anyway! haha!

  • @topheramazz Awesome my friend. Try and eat within the hour window following your workout :)

  • @WellnessMafia -absolutly :) whats your take on eating fast carbs (post workout only) to increase insulin secretion/musle glycogen restoration. thanx

  • @topheramazz I would agree. I add one more portion (roughly size of a small fist) of carbohydrates following a workout in ratio to my metabolic type. You are right it will help with the uptake of insuline :)
