Zombie Panic Source PC Review

I really don't want ZPS to turn into another L4D game. The game is hard but I don't think it is unbalanced at all. Just like survivors, zombies require a fair amount of teamwork in order to win. The survivor weapons are strong but there are only a limited amount of ammo and guns scattered around the map. This forces survivors to move around the map as groups to find weapons, while zombies can setup ambushes and traps. Teamwork is key to winning on both sides.

You compare this game to Left 4 Dead and say it's basically the same, even though Zombie Panic Source and Zombie Panic came before the idea of Left 4 Dead came to existence. I hate it when people get that wrong, (ZP) 19-- to 2001,(ZPS)2004, (L4D)2007? No.

(cont.) Then you need to run off to somewhere else. Several of the player made maps are made with different houses, and you can be let in by your friends there.

Inevitably, some humans will fail and get killed, and as such there become more zombies. As a zombie you need to break barricades, or perhaps sneak in through a window or whatever to get to the humans. There's a lot of fun starting as zombie and the go on a rampage. Both sides are fun to play, so you don't grudge becoming a zombie :)

I have played this game way more hours than I ever played L4D. It's simply great fun. However, you need to play a survival map, where the humans win either if the zombies run our of reinforcements or the humans survive for x minutes. The missions are not as fun, not even close.

The fun is in barricading (if human), then keeping that barricade up. If the zombies play well, chances are that your barricade will break, or you will run out of ammo to fend them off (cont.)

You have got to remember, they ahve tried to make this realistic, and thats how they kill the humans. In real life the only way zombies are gonna kill the survivors are they hording around. This game is also no possible way of being like left for dead, i agree with you on that, this mod was made way before left for dead.

your so called 'flaws' is what makes the game unigue, and the 'problems' cancel each other out yeah the humans get powerful weapons but they dont have a lot of ammo and when their is a lot of survivours they have to share ammo, its realistic which isnt a flaw

this is a great mod but ever. since it became an official steam game the usual crop of noobs and kids popped up way too much. amd the zombie animations when tjey attack scares me, just watch the way they move

their arms it's like they are puny weak bastards that can't do shit even though their claw attacks are

pretty strong. zps is a great mod with some major flaws but still enjoyable 8/10

The balance is in fact skewed more toward zombies, as they have roughly a 70-80 percent win ratio.

Melee weapons are also balanced in a damage/speed/weight factor, the sledge swings slowly, and it very heavy, but deals 50 HP damage per swing. That equates to 4 hits to take out a normal zombie.

The knockback is essential to balance the gameplay. When ZPS was first released, there was no knockback at all, this led to zombies being able to walk right through swaths of bullets without resistance.

i find the balancing good to be honest, when your byurself and theres 3 zombies coming at you your pretty much stuffed no matter what guns u have, yeah you can tank it up but ull move so slow that the zombies will just rape you, bunching up then yes zombies can be disadvantaged for a short period of time until they run out of ammo which happans oh to easly lol

The reason because of the push back from the guns is because when it was released people complained they died to fast, and when they "fixed" that it turned out to be irreversible. Humans lose almost all the time anyways.

for the survivors its a game of survival of the fittest and the fact that zombies are weak and weapons are scarce makes it realistic

the human weapons arent completely OP. you just need to know how to be a zombie.

yesterday i was playing a game as a minion zombie on cabin and i saw the whity go into white house and then basement with 2 unaware and well aremed survivors. because we knew we could get them off guard the whity attacked and infected 1 and damaged the other. becaues i was farther behind i caught up and finneshed them off. numbers and element of suprise = zombie win

Dude this game was created long before left4dead, l4d has nothing to do with Zombie Panic Source. I was in servers when people were still asking what the hell l4d was. If anything Valve referenced ZPS while developing the series, why wouldn't they look at other zombie titles

The premise of the game is a simple civilians zombie apocalypse made to be as realistic as possible, which makes for high re-playability. Again, L4D has nothing to do with this game. It's older but still very fun, & free

@burnyourhonda zombie panic places u in the view of a original zombie apocolypse. theres no special things and theres balance, there doesnt need to be a special ability for anything. so a hunter smoker boomer or tank or just w/e would actually unbalance the game cuz it would be way tougher for the survivors, because ur weapons cant rlly take down things instantly like in l4d so the survivors would have a tough time taking down a infected if they had special abilitys just to point this out :)

@Torch178 If you don't have a Source game and have a ATi graphic Card you can get Half Life 2: Deathmatch and Half Life 2: Lost Coast or is you have a NVIDIA graphic card you can get Portal: first slice(11 level demo), Half Life 2: Deathmatch, Half Life 2: Lost Coast, and PEGLE Extreme (not a source game but still its free). These games run on the source engine so you can run this mod.
