  • And how do you treat it? Its crazy that I had to do my research because my dumb doctor just wanted to prescribe me meds for high blood pressure, cholesterol, high triglycerides and diabetis but she had no clue that pcos is what causes all that crap, so she should get to the bottom of it all. The only thing I like about pcos is infertility because I dont want anymore kids, the one I have is enough for me!

  • Hi! I have bee diagnosed with PCOS

I knew I wasn't crazy or having some kind of psychosomatic episode constantly uncomfortable. I can FEEL when the cysts rupture. As of 2 weeks ago, my doctor gave me the go-ahead for ovarian drilling to free up the enlarged follicles and drill into the cyst. Hopefully this will alleviate the pain and help me to get pregnant. I know what y'all are going through and literally/unfortunately feel your pain :-(

  • A little background. My daughter and I both have PCOS. Her symptoms were a lot more "stereotype". She has never had cysts though and I have. She had major weight gain at puberty, irregular cycles, the dark elbows, knuckles and neck, and terrible acne. Neither of us had hair loss. It has been suggested by the doctors that my ability to conceive and lack of other symptoms was helped by the fact I was put on birth control at such a young age for my cycle regulation.

  • @Wenchiest My gyno wanted to put me on birthcontrol but Im so scared of the side effects, did you have any? Isnt one of them weight gain? Has it helped with the dark knuckles and hairloss? What if I cant swallow pills, can I chew them?

  • What is PCOS?

  • I was diagnosed with PCOS in March of 2010. Everywhere I go, it seems I can't really escape PCOS. The other day I was shopping with my sister, and noticed I hadden't shaved the hair on my chin. I begged, asking if we could leave because there were people staring at me and a few of them laughing and pointing. Is there anyone that has PCOS who would like to lead me through it. I can't do this journey alone.

  • @AllTimeLow1991 hey i know how u feel.... my email is krystal_dawn_17@yahoo.com.... u can look me up on facebook.. if u ever need a friend to talk to im here..i found out abot 3 weeks ago i hae pcos

Hello, does anyone know what the best way to get a definitive yes.no diagnosis is?

Last week a scan of my abdomen (for an unrelated issue) showed that I have follicular cysts. Multiple, more on the right than on the left. Now my family doctor says it's nothing to worry about - but I have some classic symptoms : facial hair (which I laser off), hair loss on the head, struggling with weight since young age, irregular periods. How do I make sure it either is/or isn't PCOS?

  • @Kayelle1980 Your best bet is an endocrinologist or have your doctor test for excessive quantities of androgens (especially testosterone)

  • @Kayelle1980 It sounds like you have it, theirs a website that gives you a test to tell you if you have it or not. Do you laser it off at the comfort of your home or you go to someone at a laser center?

  • Aside from weight issues, PCOS women come in all shapes & forms, which does not necessarily preclude you from conceiving...it is important to remember, you cannot be on clomid, metformin or bcp without proper diagnosis & proper monitoring so that you follow the correct treatment path. Not all PCOS sufferers are insulin resistant. Please see our latest video on PCOS with compelling testimony from two women who followed the correct treatment path.

  • I have PCOS and horrible facial hair and people(including doctors) treat me like I'm stupid i.e. talk slowly, say "do you understand" alot. It's really frustrated! I've had people cross the street when they see me. If they actually knew me they wold know that A: I'm pretty smart B: you can't catch it and C: I'm a super nice person

  • @Mysticbutterfly21

Hey,did you ever try laser? It did wonders for me. And now I just go to "maintain" is every 6 months or so, as it does come back slowly. It's not cheapo, but so worth it (I think)

  • @obryan003 heartless bitch!!! u know what its ignorant people like u who deserve to have PCOS. No actually i wont go tht far, cos i wouldnt wish it on anyone its that awful..but it always does seem to happen to the best of people... how dare you!? thats all im gonna say

  • @obryan003 im size uk 8 and have pcos, go do sum research luv

  • @obryan003 what a heartless bitch!

  • I went to basically a quack telling me it's just because im fat and told me to come back so he can describe my fatass intertility butt some diet pills, but i've researched this PCOS enough to know that BAM my life story and somethings up, Im getting a second opinion! and fuck the quacks who thinks this is just funny and that it's just cause im fat! next time i comment on this you'll know a positive answer! sometimes takes a woman to do a damn quacks job to know whats wrong with her! TY!

  • @snapola70 I had the same problem with my doctor! So guess what I did? I embarrassed her in the lobby area where other patients were waiting and asked to see her credentials and totally schooled her in all my PCOS research. Lets just say she closed her practice.

  • Well, I got an ultra-sound scan done to check my ovaries. Unfortunately for me, the results were inconclusive. I've now been told that the only other way of knowing for sure is to get a smear test done, but there's no way I can go through with it. The most I can do for the time being is find ways of dealing with the hair-growth problem. Good thing my eldest sister is a professional beautician. Lol.

  • @rachelchunter Go to a dermatologist. I went to one and my results were iffy too. But her put me on the medication to help reduce the hair growth. Also, birth control works great!

  • @rachelchunter Not everyone with PCOS has cysts. The name is totally misleading. The best way to determine is through blood tests and symptom presentation.

  • nice video. truelly does give me a glimer of hope

  • What a wonderful and POSITIVE video!

  • grea video!

  • I have PCOS and so does my cousins girlfriend. Guess what? A week ago she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. She has given me more hope that one day that my boyfriend and I will have a child of our own...

  • I just found out yesterday that I have PCOS.

    I'm really worried. I'm only 17...

It was only a couple of years ago I was certain that I would never want children... then recently I couldn't help but imagine the joy it would bring to me when I was older. Now the thought that this could effect my fertility? I hate it.

I don't know how to deal with it, how to make it go away. I've been researching online but the more I know the more I worry. Where are the success stories with this? Are there any?

  • Worry less, do more. Talk with your doctor, ask them these questions. Whether you like it or not, it is what it is, so there is no point worrying. There is always in vitro fertilization and other fertility medications you can go on to help you get pregnant. You'll be fine. When the time comes, find a good doctor who can help you. :)

  • Hello girls,

I thought I had PCOS, as well, because that's what my first doctor said, but then I went to see a specialist and it turned out that I had a tumor in one of my ovaries. Now that its removed, I am back to being a healthy girl. So please go to your doctor and have them done and ultrasound to check your ovaries, don't wait! You may not have PCOS but a tumor, but once its removed, you are healthy again!!!

  • I can't wait to overcome my PCOS and get my BFP!!! Good luck to all PCOS TTC couples!!! It can happen girls!!!

  • Just about every female in my family has it, it is inherited so if you have a family member who has it make sure you check into it. Both my aunts have it and me and one of my sisters ended up with it.

  • My eldest sister thinks I have it. I think so too. I have so many of the symptoms, and I've already had problems with high blood pressure. The worst for me is the the hair growth. I just have to look at myself to feel totally disgusted. But everyone else just keeps saying I'm just like my dad (including the stupid doctor, who wouldn't even run any proper tests). It saddens me because this means I'll always be ugly. ='o(

  • I was convinced that I had PCOS, and when I told my doctor he just told me that it was the way that I am. I didn't want to accept that cuz I truly believed that I did have it, so I eventually convinced him to get me tested for it. And guess what.. I was right!

You should try talk to your doctor and just say to him that it would put your mind at rest if you had a test.

  • It's no use. He simply looked at my previous blood tests and said that it didn't show anything up. But I don't think it would be that easy to find. Apparently they've found out that some blood tests are causing the wrong diagnosis of certain glandular disorders. So maybe it could be causing the same problem for PCOS. But does the more accurate testing have to be a "smear" test? I've never been able to go through with one because I'm very self-conscious about the abnormal hair growth. =o[

  • Oh I see. You can also have an ultrasound scan, where you can see if there are any cysts on your ovaries. I don't know how hard that would be to take it up with the doctor though, as I know that mine is rather persistant.

I haven't heard anything about a smear test being used to diagnose PCOS but I haven't been looking into it.

  • i hate that dr's downplay a womens natrural intuition. mine did the same. and i got tested positive yesterday. ugh

  • I think i have it :(

  • Thanks for producing a video like this. The more who know about this condition the better. Perhaps it'll take some PCOS-sufferers, or people related to PCOS-sufferers, to get into medical research and actually help lift the lid on the ignorance out there, especially the ignorance in the medical profession itself.

  • I was diagnosd late last year and still have had no relief. My thyroid has stopped working properly and my doctor won't treat my PCOS until it gets back to normal. But my Family doctor won't treat my thyroid because of the PCOS. I don't think either knows enough about it. What do you do but get tired of the game. My acne is so bad and i am constantly washing my face. And no matter how much i eat or what i gain weight. I work out roughly 2 hours a day just to maintain and not gain more.

  • im going back to my doctors this week im going to be firm and assertive as i cant win either, im 3 stone over weight and it just wont shift i just want to be a good weight and see if the symtoms are less, the doctor can give u the pill for acne ask for his help again, good luck

  • thanks for doing this video, hope girls and women see this and understand that you´re not alone, and i never knew either that all those celebrities had this disease.

also thanks for giving me some hope that some day i will give birth to my own baby, cos that´s my biggest worry about this thing!

  • This is a great video. I was diagnosed with PCO after being ignored by doctors for about 8 years. I always knew there was something wrong with me. I Have no ovalitions sometimes, irregular periods, misscarriage. Finally, when i got a new gynecologist, he diagnosed me right away and confirmed my suspicions that other doctors could have done a long time ago. Even if i dont want to have PCO, it such a relief to finally have a name to what´s caused my problems for so long

  • i know so many people on face book and am to ashamed to go on it. i know i shouldnt be and i would like to help others sorry i know im a chicken/

  • i wanted to join the group to on FB i i feel the same way... haha, what´s there to be ashamed about really, a person with cancer wouldnt have any reasons to feel embarrased so why do we?

  • i know i shouldnt but i have no covidence what so ever, i cant stand the thought off people saying things when really i should be saying sod em ah. i started lighter life today to lose some weight sounds really good and ive treid every diet out their so wish me luck i let u know how i get on.

  • if i get my covidence up lose a bit off weight maybe we cld join together (gunsfoever) nice to speak to people in the same boat thanks for the reply

  • i keep me fingers crossed:) i know it´s really hard. I dont know were you´re from but in sweden there´s a medicine called "Metformin" , it´s actually meant for diabetics but gynecologists prescribe it for PCOS too. It helps the cells pick up the sugar in your blood, that´s why PCO-women are always in the mood for carbs:) Because the cells get "Resistant" to the insuline. Maybe if you asked your Gyn for this pill? It could help you?

  • Thanks for this video!!!!!!

  • my doctors are so unhelpful but i try this week again and let u know how i get on thanks for the reply, cant belive u had pcos since you were 15, i had my ultrasound in 2004 and my doctors didnt tell me till may 2008 i think they only told me then as they were sick off me making appointments ( mostly for my facial hair and acne) any way thanks again gunsforever im in the uk.

  • Awesome video

Am 17 & was diagnosed with PCOS 3 months ago

  • thank you so much for this wonderful video. I'm 23 and I was diagnosed February 2008...much love to all 'cysters'...

  • I was diagnosed with PCOS last july, and i was wondering if there are any women here who have conceived babies naturally (without the aid of medication)...and what symptoms do you have of pcos, cause it varies from woman to woman

  • Some women do conceive naturally, some women need help. The problem with PCOS is that it has quite a few symptoms, and every woman experiences different symptom-combinations of different severity. It's no wonder doctors are confused and have a bad attitude towards the subject - but definitely find support groups, there are several online. You'll find at least one woman who understands, and usually more than one!

  • After finally seeing the doctor for irregular periods, acne and thinning hair, i was told I couldn't have pcos because I'm not fat enough. Just came back from an ultrasound scan today which showed cysts on my right ovary. Going back to GP in a week. A bit confused but my hunch is I have the syndrome, will post back with what the doctor says next time.

    Great video thankyou xx

  • I have PCOS that has ravaged my face with cystic acne. I did gain over 50 pounds but thankfully I have lost 35 pounds! I am slowly getting better and I have begun laser treatment on my face.

Thank you for making this video. I don't feel so alone anymore. ^__^

  • Wow I never knew about Victoria Beckam, that's kinda cool

  • awesome video! it is WELL DONE! Upbeat yet true. Thanks for showing some thin 'cysters', too...which I am as well!

  • What an awesome video! thank you for showing the different types of women that PCOS can affect. I'm almost 28, 5 ft and 98 lbs. I was diagnosed with PCOS three years ago, and still I have ignorant people, even doctors, in disbelief that I have PCOS because I'm not "overweight". There are thin cysters too!

  • Agree with you on that one Melika635. I'm also pretty thin ( I'm a size 4 ) and some people actually think all women with pcos are alike. Well, I used to get teased in school for being so skinny.

It's a syndrome, not a disease. That's why the symptons vary from woman to woman.

I hope every single one of you will be able to conceive if they wish to. We have been trying for 15 months now and although it's hard I intend to keep my faith. Not only for myself, but for all women with pcos.

  • Thanks for this video.. My name is Amelia and im 14 and i was diagnosed with PCOS on Aug.14th 2008..

  • Hi i'm 16 i was diagnosed when i was 14 as well. in a way, we are lucky we were able to catch it earlier rather than later

  • my daughter suffers from pcos and she has two miracle's (her children) she learned to get on birth control and when she decided to get pregnant she got off birth control and sure enough she got pregnant 2 times.. But i am not saying it is always like that.. it took her 3 years into her marriage to get pregnant.. her children are gorgeous.. and a gift from God...

  • Thanks for posting this video a lot of women suffer with PCOS and are afraid to tell people about it at least I know I am since very little is said about it. It took me many doctor and specialist to finely get treatment. Thank you :)

  • i think that this is a good pcos video i have had pcos for almost 2 years now and i showed this video to my family to help them understand it better

  • Are there any support or forums for women who have PCOS or suspect that they may have it?

  • Thankyou Not enough people know about PCOS. I am 19 years old and was diagnosed when I was 17 and I still dont know as much as I would like though I am trying to learn more.

  • other symptoms not mentioned but thats why its syndrome u dont need to have all symptoms to have it

    poly girl

i have hair loss and over weight & excess hair ETC...

    cin

  • I didn't know Victoria Becom had pcos!!!! She is so thin. How does she do it? And she has kids. Thank gives me hope.

  • @bettyboopcakes you don't have to be obese to have PCOS, I have always been thin and I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 11-12 years old. I have friends who are bigger , diagnosed with PCOS and they have children. There is hope. But it is really up to God. What's meant to be will be. I wish you the best of luck!

  • thanks for that i was just diagnosed with pcos and im am kinda scared so than you very much for that

  • thank you!

  • thanks :)

  • great film, well done.

Not enough people know the truth about all pcos entails.

  • WOW...

  • If people have been receiving negative responses from their gp's or Gyno's, I would defiantly recommend seeing a naturopath, they tend to look into the slightest discrepancies in the way your hormones work, and many of the natural remedies provided actually do produce results.

I'm 16 and just had my period after 2 yrs of nothing. I was diagnosed at 15 with PCOS by my Gyno and then carted around from Dr to Dr before settling with my naturopath, where i have finally achieved menstruation again.

  • I'll take a pic of Victoria Beckham in to my doctor as im nearly as thin as her. He might listen then.

  • The only thing it took for him was to hear my story , a vaginal ultrasound and a bloodsample. it took about 30 minutes. Why is it that doctors never listen to patients and take us seriously?

I hope you get the help and the diagnos you want. I´ll keep my fingers crossed for you!

  • hi just letting u know i have my doctors app at four my hubby coming for support so i let u know the outcome just want to thank u again (gunsforever) it was nice off u to help,

  • hey! good for you! hope it went well, Good of your hubby to be supportive:) i have my breakdowns every now and then and my fiancee is so understanding and supportive too. we need that:) anyway, hope your appointment went well and that you feel it was meaningful. let me know how it worked out.

  • had to change my appointment to thur so i let u know how it goes, apart from my hubby i was feeling alone so i really glad ive been speaking to u and have this site. i glad u have someone speak to u thurs

  • hi well had my doctors app and he put me on 500mg of metformin so i going to start it next tue and i hope it makes a diffrence to me, well got nothing to lose ive tried everything esle.didnt have any checks ie blood pressure sugar ect .did u

  • i dont really know the tests cos i dont take metformin myself. However i am a nurse and i´d think it´s pretty vital to check bloodsugar and bloodpressure before you go on metformin. but you can do that later... when you´ve taken to medication for a while. has it helped anythinG??

  • I suffer depression and anxiety with very heavy periods, i mean HEAVY hemmoraging. (5 days) Im thin, no excess hair, no diabetes symtoms. Had aunty with problems that sounded like PCOS and another aunt dies of Endo cancer age 50. Is this enough for a Doc to take me seriously? Also, can you have full tests but find that the results are neg even tho you are pcos?

  • since i was about fifteen, i´ve known there´s something wrong with me. I just always had this wierd feeling that when i want to have kids, i´m not gonna be able to get pregnant. I also had irregular periods, depressions and misscarriages. I went to about five different doctors over eight years and all they did was ignore me. They kept saying it was normal and stress related. Not until i went to a private gynecologist and told him my problems he diagnosed me with PCO .

  • Yes and i firmly believe that the media seizes the chance to send out negative messages to women with PCOS/ENDO which causes more stress and more menstrual absence. Anyway Godless you would probably make a shit parent and maybe you will die of cancer instead.

  • Sorry I messed up! What i tried to explain is- that I hope for my daughter- that her Prognosis will be much better and she isn't gonna have to wait so long for treatment as I had to! (13 yrs) Since it was detected so very early! Still it is hard- we all need to stick togehter!

  • Judy, the powers that be want a section of society to be infertile esp if you are not rich, over 30 or black. The best people to get help from is other women, you will get the truth from them, they are the experts. I have some menstrual disorder (Non specific as yet) and im learning to control my cycle with my mind.

  • Don't give up- there will be that one Doctor - that will listen to you! And it is up to us to make everyone else aware of PCOS! My daughter now 14 yrs old shows significant signs of PCOS! In her Case I hope the Prognosis is All my love to you and other sufferers! Stay strong! Thnak you for the video- my picture should be in it! I am the Posterchild for PCOS! better- since so early detected! There is so much more hope for her!

  • I am 40 yrs old- three Kids- Teens and also I have PCOS! So often no one (particular Physicians) told me that it was me -nothing else! I was send out their door with a diet Plan and to see a nutritionist! Well yeah- it was me- my body! Now overweight (obese) and with hair growth and often severe Pain I fought back! Someone did listen to me!

  • I am right now in that phase of no one listening to me. I am obese and half the doctors dont even want to examine me physically properly, I feel. They half do their jobs IMO. I am going to my 4th gyn soon. One gyn even went so far as to tell me that my menstrual cycle is just a mystery of nature and there was nothing to be worried about. 2-5 months off and then 2-??? on heavily. Nothing to worry about??? :O

  • I've gotten anemia from it.

  • this video is beautiful. I am 27 and i have PCOS and I am fighting in this struggle to regain my life. I am recently married with hopesof starting a family! I was feeling very dispondent and this video really touched me. Thank You for the inspiration to keep hoping!

  • dont give up hope! i am also 27 and just got pregnant with PCOS!!! you can do it too!

  • you truly have a attitude problem, my husband and i have been trying for 3 years and i too have pcos! but there is certainly no way i would ever give up on trying for children!! how can you say the most wonderfulist thing you could ever do is a waste of time!!

  • that message was a reply to andy

  • I agree My sister and I both have PCOS, she was diagnosed at 17 with severe PCOS.

She was told she would NEVER have kids, and she now has 2 one is about to be 2 and the other one just turned 1 on the 21st.

    NEVER GIVE UP.

I also have 2 kids, I have had 6 actual pregnancies, but 2 live births, I would do it all over again.

  • I am a black female with pcos and my doctor basically told me I am fat and depressed. Does anyone have any other information than that. A support group? ANYTHING? I haven't been given good news and am now depressed and yes very fat:(

  • Thanks so much for this video - i've plastered it all over my myspace page & facebook page for all to see & spread the word! it sums up everything i'm feeling! who is the song by? it's a beautiful theme tune to our lives! keep it up! xxxx

  • Totally LOVE!!! Thank YOU *so* MuCh!

  • SPECTACULAR! Keep up the good work. Spread the word for all of us.

  • GOLD - lovely video!

  • Thank you.
