@burnley5960 Wot are you smoking?..I gotta agree with Loverockdog about the LP5 deserving recognition, particularly for synthesizing Brit/American rock'n'roll. Their version of this Dylan tune is completely original, definately not as pop oriented as MMs and definately NOT TOSH. I once had a copy of their recording of the MMwritten " New Directions", it too was very original. I hope it sometime shows up on You Tube. PEACE OUT!

I learned recently that the BBC wouldn't play this song with its original title - 'Stay All Night' - due to its "connotations" (the British were still quite conservative about some things back then), and so the song was re-titled to get airplay. The trouble is, it's easy to get it mixed up with a certain Moody Blues track!

Hi marksoutof10....Fyi,,,the Liverpool Five were given the song first by Bob Dylan and their recording also ran into the same problem in the US.....particularly in states like Idaho and Utah with their large Mormon populations.That LP 5 version is well worth checking out on U Tube's "Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 1)"

@burnley5960 Strangely enough, MM himself will likely disagree with you...in fact he liked them so much he wrote a tune "New Directions" that he gave exclusively to the Liverpool Five. It was released as a single on RCA Victor 47-8906......FYI...The LP5's version of the Dylan tune was only released in the US.......MM heard it , liked it and then recorded it mainly for UK release. Of the two versions I actually slightly prefer MM's....but the LP5 definately deserve greater recognition not TOSH!!

Pretty good version of this Dylan tune, but you need to check it out on You Tube's "Nuggets from the Liverpool Five ( Part 1)". The LP5 version was the first recording of the song by an English group. This underappreciated group were also the first to fuse American folk with British rock'n'roll. The 12 string guitar they use and the sexy vocals add a lot to the song's sexy lyrics. Check it out!!!
