Retrochad how many clocks do you have in your home and keep on collecting those old fashion clocks and I hope you make wall clock chain like the music artist name Flavor Flav.
Check out this guy wearing a clock chain on his neck "Flava Flav springs ahead his clock"
I have a Simplex clock circa 1961 from my high school (got it around '77 when they were rebuilding after an arson, it was just sitting on the classroom floor leaning on the wall)- they are fantastic clocks but replacing the spring which holds the glass is an exercise in extreme frustration, it usually takes me at least 15 minutes or so!
I remember the old school clocks could be adjusted from the "office". This was fun to watch as a kid because the clock would go into high-speed mode, and time would fly. Do any of your school clocks have this capability?
Yes, several of these clocks do have a solenoid which would allow them to run the minute hand along with the second hand to synchronize them. I haven't tried the feature yet though (don't have a master clock controller). I have had to just leave them unplugged when the power has gone out and just plug them back in at the time they are stopped at to get them back on the right time.
WOW! I like that Audiotronics record player and the song! Neat clocks and I really like that therostat setting and the air-conditioner kick in! I remember the old band room at my school had a couple of those airconditioners in it.
Thanks for your comments! I also have a similar relay kit set-up in each other room of my house with a window air conditioner so each room receives just the cooling it needs. The other rooms use 110 volt AC units however. Heating when needed in these rooms is done through electric radiators when needed.
I have it set up so that the thermostat can either close circuit on temperature rise in "cool" mode or on temperature fall in "heat" mode.
For heating I set the Carrier to "heat" and the thermostat to "heat", and turn the temperature knob on the Carrier all the way to warm. I can choose between heat pump or if it's really cold electric resistance heat.
For A/C I set thermostat to "cool", Carrier set to cool and knob all the way to cool on unit.
Hey cool! the high school I went to had clocks exactly like the one at 0.45!
We also had the old intercom system with the wooden speaker boxes in the classrooms and the tube-type amp in the main office. Me and my buddy was at that school a little while ago for a school concert and it's still in use!
Chad have you ever seen those clock/PA speaker combo units in schools and institutions with a clock on the left or right and the speaker on the left or right vice versa? im trying to find info and pictures maybe even a video on these units
Yes I know what you mean and have seen some of them back when I was in school but have never actually come across one for sale. There were Simplex and DuKane units that I have seen.
that sounds right ive asked other ppl on here and they said simplex the problem is i look up these brand names and i cant find anything on them what am I doing wrong i try all search terms like clock pa speaker combo school clocks clock intercom speakers intercom speakers, nothing

I have a Simplex 6310 - 9239 clock when they were rebulding part of my middle school. I tore it apart to get another motor in there.

What type or relay setup do you use for air conditioner to control via external thermostat?

Tell us about your video technique, please. Do you use a handicam or the avi mode of a still camera?

This was done using a regular VHS camcorder I got at Goodwill. I since have got a MiniDV JVC camcorder.

I really enjoyed the song. Liked all clocks and really got a kick out of the heat/cool setup.
I assume you would have to change the knob settings on the unit to change from heat to cool on top of changing the thermostat?

The Honeywell thermostat is a lot more accurate at maintaining a temperature than the warm/cool control on the Carrier.
The relay coil runs on 12 volt DC and I have a timer set to shut off the relay power supply during the day while I'm at work to save energy.
This house has no central heating/cooling so this is the entire climate control system for the living room.

i cant get over it how you can make a setup

wall thermostat that is neat have you try useing a electronic kind wall thermostat on
it to?
hdyudu 3 years ago
Yes I actually have an electronic thermostat in my bedroom connected to a relay for the window AC! I'll have to make a video of it sometime.

Here is a picture of my school PA system (on this page):
nipper dot freeshell dot org slash misc.htm
It is a DuKane, all tube type w/ 60 watt tube amp. My dad paid for it at an auction as my 16th birthday present.
It's at my parents' house far away, I need to try to get it sometime. I really miss it! Is this similar to the one you saw or was that one smaller?
