Problem: Corporatism and Crony Capitalism. Solution: separation of business and state. Most Corporations are not in bed with state or global banks. As for Rights, when will academia and those in power understand our Rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness are bestowed onto us by the Laws of Nature at conception? These Rights apply to all life and social systems throughout the world and they existed before humans. See the proof at: watch?v=tdNYVZQYJqI
@Mike10four Ah, the question that could require an book response. Well, just read some of Chomsky's books and you will see. Corporatism and capitalism requires that companies drive off of profit motive, which will ALWAYS result in exploitation and destruction. Socialism is a system where workers control the means to production, thus eliminating this profit motive.
@michaelchristopherj Where is this socialistic system working? Where is the historical record of such a system and its contributions in making this world a better place to live?
@Mike10four How about Spain 1936? Or Paris 1871? Soviet Union, China and North Korea aren't communist or socialist in any way by the way. This is common knowledge to those who study the actual ideologies.
@michaelchristopherj Ok what did socialist Spain do after 1936 to improve the world? Paris is a city in France. You mean only Paris went socialist and not France? If socialism is so great, why not form a nonprofit corporation, let your workers control the means of production and observe how they eliminate their profit motives? If socialism is so great, don’t you think most of the world would be socialist by now? What do you think the problem is?
@Mike10four Well, I take it you don't know the history behind socialism. The Paris Commune of 1871 was socialist and were abruptly ended by powers that didn't see it fit. Same with Spain, during the Civil War against the fascists, a war George Orwell fought in because he believed in the ideals of the socialism they had created. They lost to the fascists. Today, global corporations infiltrate governments and prevent this from happening, though there are few socialist governments today.
@Mike10four And actually, most of the world is socialist... well, the people. Socialism is the most popular ideology for obvious reasons. Just read the man of which you post your comment on. Noam Chomsky is a libertarian socialist, and has several books on the subject. Socialism works, its ignorance and lack of education that keeps it from happening. And opportune tyrants, who distort its message. Venezuela has some socialism. Europe has socialist ideals, which is nearly there.
@Mike10four America is one of the few places on the Earth where socialism has a bitter meaning. Look at England's Labour Party, who make no secret their affiliation with socialism. Go to France, Spain, Greece. Socialist International (official international socialist organization) is active in almost every government on the face of the Earth. Even America has the Democratic Socialists of America, that is apart of this group and I am proud to be a member of.
@michaelchristopherj I’m into results. Starting in 1776 the “American experiment” has, in less than 200 years, changed the world like no other society in recorded history by the fruits of: technology, food production, and medicine the stables of human existence throughout the world today. Socialist throughout the world do what socialist do, and what do they do? I’m sure they have no problem feasting off the fruits from the US.
@Mike10four Well 1776 was a product of the Enlightenment, and so was socialism, which had its beginnings in 1789 in France, and was by the way supported by Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson. If you're into results, than look at the socialists movements in its 200 years. Even if it didn't do anything, would that really be a legitimate argument? What if it was a genius idea? Does "results" really determine the validity of an idea, one which you barely care to research on.
@michaelchristopherj Thanks for the answer to my question about the accomplishments of socialism. Since you know so much about Jefferson, do socialists understand that Jefferson’s unalienable Rights are part of the Laws of Nature and man can not change them?
@Mike10four Of course. Socialists, especially libertarian socialists (like Noam Chomsky), actually want to widen our freedoms and rights. In France they created unalienable rights that were pretty much identical. Both Jefferson and the French took the idea from England, though. You should check it out dude! Look up Chomsky and Howard Zinn's talks on their socialism. I'm a democratic socialist which is more like Howard Zinn. But Einstein, Martin Luther King and George Orwell were all socialists.
@michaelchristopherj Chomsky or any other bureaucrat can not “widen our freedoms and rights” because we are born with them. France or any other country can not “create” unalienable rights! As for those socialists: Chomsky, Zinn, Einstein, King, and you why are you socialist picking the US to live and not some socialist country? Why live in a country where “socialism has a bitter meaning?”
@Mike10four One, I was born here and so were my ancestors. I see no legitimate reason to leave. Two, there isn't many choices for socialism and three, I'm in college. And the US is meant to be a social democracy. And your rights are given to you by your gov. If you lived in China you wouldn't have many rights. If you lived on an island, rights wouldn't exist because you could do whatever you want. Rights only exist inside governments and include things which the government allows you to do.
@michaelchristopherj Since you seem to be a well informed socialist, and you commented earlier about your belief on the source of our unalienable Rights; every good socialist should know the true source of their Rights as summarized in my channel video. The foundation to any ideology is about rights. I challenge you to spread the true source of our unalienable Rights to all your socialist friends; and perhaps, this world will become a better place to live.
@Mike10four See, that's what I don't get. What are you talking about? Our "rights" are basically what we can and cannot do, based on what the government, or whatever power allows us to do. Other than that, we can do whatever the fuck we want. Thus, they aren't considered rights at all. Like freedom of speech gives us the right to say whatever we want. We, however don't have the right to smoke weed. I'm for widening our rights as much as possible but it is useless to create arbitrary definitions.
