amzaing that you've been as close as this to them...
i saw minke whales in iceland but they are 'only' 10 meters long and for me they where fantastic because of their size and the way they move and look. but that's nothing against a blue whale with its 33 meters.
Beautiful video. I'd be scared to get that close. Just imagine if a boat is in it's path or something when it goes to dive. Then again, boats and ships are always in the ocean and nothing ever happens.
The blue whale is the largest mammal, possibly the largest animal, to ever inhabit the earth. Its body is long, somewhat tapered, and streamlined, with the head making up less than one-fourth of its total body length. Its rostrum (upper part of the head) is very broad and flat and almost U-shaped, with a single ridge that extends just forward of the blowholes to the tip of the snout.
I just seen one at esenada baja, that whale was huge, I always imagen them big but I couldn't believe my eyes, I got amazed by the size I thought we were nothing next to that huge whale.
come to Southern California from May to October and hop on a whale watching boat. You'll see one. If not a blue then a Fin Whale(second largest), Pilot Whales, occasionally a Humpback and thousands of Dolphin
geeez there were years in past that more than 30 000 of them were taken alone ( not including other species ) by whalers in antartic waters - what a shame !!!
go to Pierpoint Landing over by the aquarium and hop on a whale watching trip. Gray whale season is over but Blue whale season should be starting up soon. Plus you'll see tons of other stuff, different types of Dolphin, whales, seals
pretty cool dude!

You were way too close! According to the Cetacean Watching Code of Conduct, your vessel should be no closer than 100 meters from any whale.
