Sorry to inform you, but I realize a real problem with this idea. The idea would need non-partisan oversight in order to work - a neutral third-party. The fact that Obama is a Democrat means that he is unable to be an overseer and a member of a compromising party (as he is a Democrat) at the same time. This means that affixing this to Obama now is only illusory. In America that is not how it works anyway, and that is why ideas like this only play further into the rhetoric of the liberal agenda.
Dear NotYourRealName, "mediation" is not about "compromise." A mediator insures that BOTH parties to any dialogue "understand" the other side's point-of-view so that optimal action can be taken. Just because Obama is Democrat does not automatically mean that he can not remain objective in his attempt to facilitate optimal results. Also, starting out your statement with, "Sorry to inform you" is not very conducive to "open inquiry" as it says that you have ALREADY closed your mind to possibility.
Sorry for my opening if it offends you. I certainly agree that there will be no compromise, but can you answer this? Who acts as the mediator? How is Obama not that mediator when he is the only individual with power to implement any resolution -meaning he is the overseer? Even if Obama the man could remain objective it is still interpreted as a conflict of interest. A neutral third-party is the backbone to the American judicial system. The Purple Dialogue must be manned by someone.
Kevin, an effective dialogue contains a person's "personal" perspective and not conjecture or assumption about a third party's point-of-view. You can not speak for anyone other than yourself accurately. "You" are the mediator in a Purple Dialogue. You need to pay attention to the issues that are not being effectively communicated both by yourself and the other person. There is no such thing as a neutral third party there is only paying attention to "integrity" by all interested people (the key).
It is not something that you test the validity of, it is something that you learn "more" about. In other words, there are no real arguments in the world, there is only the lack of understanding of another person's point-of-view. In the above example you stated or implied that you did not think that Obama could be objective simply because he was a Democrat which in and of itself does not "prove" anything about Obama himself and is therefore only an "argument" and not an understanding of "you."
Kevin, you might do better to talk about "you" rather than theorize about someone or something other than yourself as speaking about anything other than yourself is purely theory and/or rhethoric (non-substantive). Also perhaps send a private e-mail as I would prefer this comment section to be about "Purple Dialogue" and not about your political opinions only.
Yeah, I'm making a tool for debating, which gives value based on the ability of each person to understand and articulate both, or all, points of view. If you want to lend a hand with the software, I'd be grateful.
I am very afraid that Obama will not keep his word, and will fail us as most presidents in the past have. He's already gone back on his word about taking troops out of Iraq (which if you read the small print on his website, he always said he wouldn't end the war, he's just move the troops around). How can we evolve if we are still fighting needless wars? How can we evolve if we still expect the government to give us "free" healthcare and food stamps and "free" housing? Join the R[3vol]ution...
I think you put too much "faith" in your leaders. The leader (Obama) is not going to do it all for us. Each individual has to take it upon himself to help in some small and large ways within his own family and within the communikty and within the world at large. Then, and only then, will it appear our leader is fulfilling his promises to us.
@joyville2 Most in the US can only "think" in collective groups - independent thinking would take too much mental energy. Leadership fulfilling promises is an oxymoron.
I understand. I would be happy to include a Latino point-of-view in The Purple Dialogue explanation as a further example of what is possible. Please offer me a website or a few words of your personal concerns. Thank you.
Comprendo. Sería feliz de incluir un punto de la vista latina en La explicación Púrpura del Diálogo como un ejemplo adicional de lo que es posible. Ofrézcame por favor un sitio web o unas pocas palabras de su personal conciernen. Gracias.

How about a simple example that we can test it on. You can even decide the topic. Is that how it begins?

What other choice is there? Ron Paul AND Kucinich are BOTH good people but will not be elected President. Who "else" are you going to vote for?

If you do not think that Obama represents the American Latino reality then please say more about that. Why or why not?
Si usted no piensa que Obama representa la realidad latina norteamericana entonces dice por favor más acerca de eso. ¿Por qué o por qué no?
