I have a baby of a few months and 5 cms (almost 2 inches) of shell lenght. What do you think is the best for feeding it? (I've read a lot about but i always like to ask other owners). thanks a lot
@DogDamour this is a little late but i feed my baby snapping turtle crickets, repti sticks, chicken liver, night crawlers, and aquadic turtle shrimp treats.Look at my videos of my baby florida snapping turtle which is the same thing as a common snapping turtle but sometimes gets a bit bigger and likes warmer water that commom snapping turtle
@SamuraiPainguinTV thanks for your answer. My chelydra seems to be constantly shedding the skin of his/her shell since i bought it in september. Do you think is normal in young ones? thanks
@DogDamour its normal mine does the same, but i cean mine what i do is put some of his water in a clean bowl then get a old tooth brush and take the turtle out of the tank and scrub his shell then when im done i put him in the bowl and scrub him in the water. After that i put him back in his tank
Hello. The shell is a little strange, i mean it does not look like the shell of a snapping turtle but like the shell of any other "common" turtle, right?
Scratchy is 4? Missi is 7 month, he looks really alike to yours! Do you feed him ReptoMin Pellets, Missi loves them too !He eats like crazy, he also LOVES tadpooles, as does My Painted :)! Cutie by the way, and is that a goldfish? Thanks :)
Yes, he's almost 4 years old and yes he's eating a goldfish. He was about 3 in the video. He's much bigger now and can eat a 6 inch sunfish in no time. He loves the ReptoMin turtle sticks. He also loves shiners, nightcrawlers, moths, and any kind of bugs we throw in there.
He eats ReptoMin turtle food a few times a day. He gets live fish for treats every week or so and also bugs and nightcrawlers, live or dead whenever we find them. Like yours, he's always watching us and he's very active.
They get really big (can be over 50 lbs) and he'll outgrow that tank real quick. Scratchy is almost 4 years old and has just outgrown his 50 gallon tank. I think we had him in a 10 gallon tank for the first year. Good luck with yours.
