This is stupid. We have near the same specs, yet I can't run the game at all. However, I have XP. So do you think it's because I don't have DX 10 or 11? The demo ran fine but the full game not so much. It's almost unplayable.

My specs:

GeForce 8600 GT

Windows XP SP 3

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual

Core Processor 4800+

2.51 GHz, 3.50 GB of RAM (Actually 4.5 but XP caps out at 3.5)

DOW 2 is so much better compared to the first one. The graphics are absolutely awesome, and the new marines are brilliant! In case you need the game for no cost, you can easily download the total video game over at DOW2DownloadXcom (replace X with . ). When i did, and it worked perfectly!

AND cheaper for the performance youre getting,generally though,nowadays for 1.300euro MAXIMUM you can built a really,really,really high tech rig,not THE best,but having the best rig is like having 10 gigs of ram and using 2 of them,pointless.

i have shadows off and terrain detail low but shader detail model detail and texture detail hight and still works really nice,Nvidia 8600.

(it might have something to do with my triple core proccesor.....)

Well, let's see... is your 8600 gt overclocked ? because mine came oc by factory. You can google it for pictures, that's not a common 8600 gt. 1.5 gb is not enough if you are using windows vista. 3.1ghz what ? intel , amd ? a celeron is not exactly a gaming machine. Is your graphic card up to date ? you should check out that ... Is your system just like new or did you install the SO long times ago ? Is your graphic card focused on quality or speed ? cya

I don't think your system can perform all that better... because of the single core processor, the non-oc-graphic card and the low (actual) memory. But there are a few things you could try...

Focus your graphic card on performance, install windows xp and/or start using tuneup utilities 2009. That program will make your vista perform faster turning off most of the visual effects and cleaning up the registry by safe way. You may also consider turning off Physics settings in game. Good luck

Yep, I did that to keep HD quality and widescreen aspect ratio on youtube. But there are no top/bottom black bars on game.

i play it on ultra settings 30-50 fps but there's a small problem when the physics are runing(breking objects,flying people) the physics get slow(not the game only the physical simulation).do some one have the same problem?
