If keywords make the video more available to different demographics, then they probably suggest it to increase viewership. But if you're willing to use unrelated search words for that reason, you're a bigger douche than people think. So don't use them I guess.

Eh, I don't think putting in irrelevant tags just for extra hits is a very good practice... It's frustrating to search for a video and not get relevant results, and it kind of makes you look desperate. Now on the other hand, the silly tags you sometimes put in are quite a hoot.

If you're only concerned about a specific video's overall view count, it would work. But you're getting shit quality views, with very few converting to subscriptions. This is what we call your conversion or retention rate.

In the long run, I suggest finding what your target audience searches for and using those key words. Anything else is dicey...
