i discovered this too by myself earlier than you did in single player a long time ago, when GTA SA was launched, @'05 or the beginning of '06.

now, i fly for miles and stunt in reverse for long distances. and landing in reverse.

also, i can fly every single airplane in GTA SA including RC one.

Yes you need the game, But it is not expensive in the store's anymore, And mta rox! Speccialy when the DM version comes out! :D

But you can fligh backwards at the ps2/xbox version
