I am totally on board with this idea. Anything synchronized has to me that much more precise and ten times harder. Adding the collaboration/sychronization component means it has to be PERFECT or all can tell when it is not.

Agree with mpf1953. Too many people competing, it would be a nightmare in every way at the Olympics. Also, hardly any men do it. It's so not cool to put a sport into the Olympics when it's not equal and there are almost no men involved. Anyway, there's enough skating at the Olympics as it is.

Great video and very compelling. But synchro involves too many people to fit into the Olympics. You bring in a 16 person team for at most 7 minutes of competition. Synchro swimming has 8 person teams and they also double by competing as pairs and the Summer Olympics is much bigger than the Winter Olympics. The skating venues do not lack for events and the housing is tight. Synchro would not help on the revenue side that much and it would add very much to the costs. Not going to happen.

i think people not knowing what synchro is...makes us kinda special being the select few who actually DO know what this WONDERFUL sport is. If everyone knew...i dont know it would loose its....ooomfph

I think synchro would be very popular if it were in the olympics. Whenever I tell my friends about the sport they say, "What is that?" and then when I show them videos of the world level teams they're just blown away.

the problem is is that some teams have men. not many do- especially at the olympic level, but that is still one reason because apparently men make a huge difference! idk...

There are actually more men on senior teams than any other level but i see what your trying to say there are only like maybe 10 men on all the teams combined aha

I used to be on a Syncro team as a teen in the 80's...we didn't do ANY of the stuff that these teams do today. The way the sport has evolved and the level of difficulty...I think it should be an Olympic Sport. People don't realize the difficulty in this sport...and if ONE falls...it ain't pretty! Great Video!!!

OMG!!! I LOVE SYNCHRONIZED SKATING!!! I agree with you 100% that regular figure skating and synchronized are not really different at all. I really do want it to be in the Olympics, but apparently we need 25 countries doing the sport before it can be be considered to be in the Olympics...sometimes rules suck. AMAZING VIDEO!!! I LOVED IT!!!

@sexysalsa67: local dance competitions pale in comparison. i skate 2 hours in the morning before school, then all afternoon, with friday night and saturday as my day off. It's a pretty big deal.

I'm sort of offended you didn't even bother to look into what it really was.

I love your video, it says it all !!!!!!! no difference with figure skating, dance and ability skating. We already have synchro in swimming during summer olympics, so why not having synchro skating at the olympics. I'm dreaming of the day we'll see synchro skating at the olympics!

Love it! I did synchro all throughout my childhood till I graduated (except then it was still just call Precision) with Fraser Eclipse, I would love to see it at the Olympics!

I agree with you, although I have never personally known anyone who takes part in a synchro team, I do believe it could be an interesting competition in the Olympics. I wouldn't worry though, it took a long time to get synchronized swimming into the summer Olympics, and trampolining as well, I think in time this will become an Olympic sport.

I think it's a lot harder to be judged individually or in pairs than in a large group. To me it looks like our local dance competitions- amateur work by bratty, made-up girls.

my friend does synchro and its VERY hard. i go to her practices all the time. Its hard enough to learn how to ice-skate on your own. Id like to see you try to dance in perfect synch without looking down while on ice.

awesome video I was just talking about this very thing at the rink today with other parents! My daughter is a competitive synchro skater and trains and practices alot of hours to do it. If Curling can be an Olympic sport than why can't synchro? It's so exciting and very entertaining,especially for a large audience. I think it'd be great! Come on IOC!!!
