  • first album: raw and best, second album: nice`n`tight, third album: had its moments, everything that came after this: suck my balls... im not against progression , but in this case progression suxXx man...

  • Love the old Kings!

  • Retro

  • I farted.

  • i like that fucking shirt...

  • mister crabs im bleeding!!!

  • Perhaps the worst rock and roll hairstyles since Flock of Seagulls.

  • I see midriff O.o haha love it!! Great song

  • he has a weird mustache

  • this can't be real. this is too perfect to be real.

  • Is it just me or does caleb look absolutely ridiculous in this video?

  • @krakenkrakerkrak its just you, he looks cool

  • @krakenkrakerkrak Just you.

  • Well he said fred i just killed a man!

    haha fucking awesome

  • why'd they have to turn gay, the YAYMH was the greatest rock and roll album of the 21st century!

  • poor...joe:(

  • Great song, rewind me of the Byrds :-)

  • As much as I love Kings of Leon now, their hair was just better in the beginning :)

  • IMMA SAY IT: EVERYTHING BEFORE "Because of The Times" I dont like.....sorry....and how were they like the strokes????

  • @AndysMouseRatBand you suck

  • my ipod broke about six months ago.....I have youth and young manhood in my cd player in my car... basically I want ppl next to me at stoplights to hear that album, just so they hear real music before they die..... on day at work I swore I heard a car playing happy alone well I was right, I ran to the front of the building and looked at the car and waved the guy looked and I yelled youth and yyoung manhood forever and he saluted me. so happy for that moment

  • Old school Kings :)

  • Its sad that Use Somebody is the only reason i found these goodies.

  • holy flying pigs jared is playing a fender and they cant get more southern-er than this...what a band which i can call a favorite..

  • 2003? HA.

  • ‎"There is no way you can compete with your early records if they've resonated with people because they have time to seep into people's lives, and a new record is immediate. Something immediate will never have the same set of emotions with something that has been able to accumulate emotions over a long period of time. So I've kind of resigned myself to the idea of thats just the way it is." - Jeff Tweedy

  • Their whole lives have been living in one extreme to the next. They are all amazing dudes who can rock a porno stache with the best of them.

  • Pagra101 this wasn't filmed in the seventies

  • This is AWESOME!!!

  • Close Your Eyes it's the Allman Bothers! Especially that intro haha!

  • Used to be a great band. To bad they sold their souls to the devil and got a bad deal. The first two albums are classics and always will be but at the 3rd album the cracks started to show and at the fourth the end was in sight. Don,t get me wrong sex on fire is a great commercial crossover song. But it's still commercial . If i did,nt already know something was wrong i knew it was when some idiot asked me to play use somebody after they had heard it covered on x factor .

  • compared to their old stuff ( the two first albums), their new stuff IS TERRIBLE. i can only listen to Youth and Young Manhood and Aha Shake Heartbreak. its incredible how they changed, and got worse

  • dude fuck people who say they sold out. their new shit is tits. So what that they got nice new clothes, guitars, cars, and haircuts. Thats what happens when you become succesesful, shitloads of money? Not that i dont love how they look like fuckin csn in this shit, thats awesome. But if you cant appreciate a bands progression then you werent that big of a fan to begin with. And hypocracy is disgusting, what would you do.

  • @420teemoney You said it brother... People think every band sells out... That's not the case a lot of the time. That's just what happens when you become a rock star. You have money :O

  • PEOPLE CHANGE. DON'T JUDGE. COCK SUCKERS.

  • @420teemoney good coment to all the shite comments well said

  • @420teemoney new guitars? Calebs using a damn 1972 es-325 and matt still uses his sheraton from time to time

  • @420teemoney thats true, but recently they have been playing like 3 or 4 songs from their first 2 albums, which are the best ones. Its because most fans now are Shit on fire fans, they just play all their more commercial songs, instead of playing their amazing songs from '03 and '04

  • @420teemoney DUDE fuck you Sex on Fire has 43 million views and this brilliant song has less than half a million, damn it Trani has 1 million views i would be surprised if you can compare Trani to Sex on Fire or Use Somebody and i would be especially surprised if you can understand what i'm sayin. Also i dont agree that this is progression they should have taken the example of Beatles and firstplay songs which would guarantee you 43 million views on youtube and then make the music you like.

  • @420teemoney If you ask Caleb for example which song he would sing before his final breath do you think he will choose Sex on Fire or he will choose song such as Trani, yeah he will choose sex on fire only in your shitloaded dreams.

  • @420teemoney I dont think they sold out I think they lost whaat gained them their main audience (awful production fast guitars) and replaced it with over produced adult contemporary music but if its what they want then they can do it

  • @420teemoney Say whatever you want, man, but their new stuff is rubbish, 100% commercial pop shit for girls. Progression is one thing, changing your style completely to appeal to a wider audience is another. That's called selling out, whether you're ok with that or not.

And to be honest it doesn't matter if I liked them back then, I'll be someone's fan as long as I appreciate their work. Which I don't anymore.

  • @420teemoney you must have just recently started listening to them and then went into their back catalog and said to yourself "Wow, I can appreciate all of this." It's nearly impossible for it to have been the other way around because everyone I know, including myself, was heartbroken when they heard Only By The Night.

  • @420teemoney all that aside, there new music is awful compared to this...and the haircuts too

  • @zpenceretch Amen brother

  • sounds like sex on fire

  • hahahaha shit man good thing he cut that hair !!!

  • miss them

  • i miss the old look

  • i love them like this!!

  • i was at this, fell in love with them, saw them several times, then just lost the plot when sex on fire came out, what a load of balls!!

  • i like there old stuff and new and i think they looked so cool back then but there style has improved alot xxxx

  • Youtube wars are like the special olympics, no one really gives a shit, and this was actually filmed in the Summer of '74 not 1976

  • i wish it was cool for normal folks to look that nasty.

  • search for "Grateful Dead Truckin live"

  • Jared looks like Jimmy page

  • when they weren't TOO mainstream..

  • love watchin jared play the bass!!! ;)

  • The only thing different about them now no not really , is they bought more effect pedals! LOL!

  • "people can be so cold when they're dead." :)

  • @shortstack2091....you wouldn't know good music if it bit you in the ass midget dick

  • Wow....those are some outfits. I'm losing circulation just watching this.

  • I would be so pissed overlooking KOL at t in the park 2003/2004 when they have became so big. I'm sure people did back then.

  • no they wouldnt

  • no they wouldnt

  • I love kings of Leon, old and new, I understand why a lot of people dislike the latest albums because there very different, but there not inferior in my opinion. Very different mood and maturity compared to when they were younger and raw. I believe if songs like be somebody, no money, cold desert etc had appeared on YAYM everyone would love them

  • look ....making music and finding an audience is hard....this lame ass group has found 5 million and I was intriged ...but what I heard did not merrit this...there music is horrible...dry bland and pretensious...lame at best with no color or life ....listen to stone temple piolets or godsmack or even the black keys hell listen to george thoughrogood and compare....these guys do not merrit this ...they have not earned there status and in my opinion. do not deserve this...why?

  • @bozo47p

wait stone temple pilots? you gotta be kidding

  • @bozo47p your name suits you dumbass. godsmack? stone temple pilots? no one's listened to them since like '97 bro. get a life and some actual musical taste.

  • @bozo47p i completely agree with you they are a mediocre band at best and do not deserve the success when there are so many better and more creative bands that would be much more deserving. however i dont agree stp and godsmack are examples of this lol :)

  • @bozo47p I completely disagree. Even though I really dislike most of their newer stuff, I think some of the tunes of their first three albums are nothing short of amazing. Trani is a personal favorite of mine. A song doesnt need to have a hundred chords and an amazing 5 minutes solo to convey emotion. The bit on trani that goes " Cops on the call, beating up the freaks, Fingers in the dirt, Spitting out his teeth" is amazing. You should really LISTEN to it.

    :-)

  • U2 fucked them up

  • people can be so cold when their dead.... awesome best line ever

  • people can be so cold when their dead.... awesome best line ever

  • i want that mustache and musical talent

  • England dang is still at it!

  • @IndieFolkRocker this is in scotland my friend. t in the park, t stands for our home made beer Tennents. check out the're latest visits to t on you tube.

  • Back when they were'nt contrived wankers.

    I pretend their recent bull-shit didn't happen.

This is the Kings of Leon I know and love -)

  • caleb was so much cooler when he just didn't give a shit

  • these guys still suck....they sound like the fucking monkeys...terrible music... even there own bass player hates there early alblums

  • @bozo47p The early albums are fucking amazing. The new albums are such such such a joke.

  • Why the fuck did they have to change that much? I´m so missing this KOL era... now it`s just music for couples to make out. Did anyone notice they do not even sweat while playing live? Fucking sad!

  • I wish they kept their hair like that... They were better back then..

  • we were born in the wrong era:[

  • They should've sticked to this attitude instead of becomming a weird coldplay/u2/fuckoff-combo

  • was this a bucket hat convention?

  • omg, those were the days!

  • bet they don't play this in hyde park in june lol

  • @goldfieldgirl16 I hope so, this is one of their best :0)

  • bieeen acampaanaaadoos & 5 añoz despues bien entubaados haha yeaah (Y)

  • that haircut and stache is the best.

  • Jimmy Page on bass?

  • fuck everyone on this planet who cant appreciate a band exploring a new style of music, there has never been a single bad song written by this band. whats wrong with getting recognized for your talents, just because you cant consider these guys your "pocket band" anymore doesnt mean they suck, they are as great now as they were at the beginning. hard work should get you recognized which it has for kol they are finally getting the credit they diserve....so FUCK ALL THE HATERS AND KEEP ON ROCKIN!

  • @yowatup25

hear ye hear ye!! Well put!!

  • That VHS tracking at 2:48 is awesome! HAHA! Was that intentional? Awesome.

  • i love jareds bassline

  • God, they have changed. But i love the new look and music as well. But i loved this too.

  • the new Ccr

  • The styling is...interesting

  • @jimmyboiment

Why are we the sellouts? Because we don't want to listen to their shitty music?

  • this band was good, now they are onions!

  • fuck all the selling out stuff, I loved their first two albums, but not their new stuff it's as simple as that, although i was a bit gutted about the direction they took because i was really looking foward too their new album and when it came out i personally thought it was shit

  • Dude I love this song more than hey Joe by Hendrix lol

  • @vogellwhatever your fatal flaw in your argunent is that those bands progressed with age. KOL are regressing with age. Creativly they are moving backword. Big time. It`s basically to appeal to teenage girls and gay guys.

  • Yeah those fucking sell out bands, such as:

The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Metallica, Slayer, Hendrix Experience, The Doors, .... ... ...

  • I love the whole "they didn`t sell out, just more people like them now" bit. History will show KOL the classic sell-out. The fact some of you post on a video like Joe`s Head, proclaiming KOL innocence (of selling out) makes you fucking stupid.

  • They didnt sell out, they just got more popular and done better for them self?

a sell out can only be called a sell out if they say they are only in it for the music etc and then go sign a big record deal, and stuff along the lines of that.

they never said anything like that, they've always had a big record label just more people have discovered them recently

  • Why is it when unknown bands and artists finally make it big, they're automatically labeled "sellouts" by the same people who used to love the band?

  • Hearing the new stuff we can say that their garage sound is really dead....

  • Kol at their best. Shame they changed. Last 2 albums have been poor. More or less a boyband now. Sellouts. What is a sell out? When your favourite garage rocknroll band from 2003-2007 decides to completely change their music and image to make more money FACT. That is what a sellout is.

  • @calebsmoustache the thing is, once something fits into our perception or taste, we want it to stay forever. in this case, a band. we want them to stay the same but we may have forgotten a simple fact of life which is: people change! there is no need for a band to continue fitting into the same genre except when they themselves choose to do so. I personally like the older KOL stuff, but this doesn't mean that I have to impose my ideas upon them so that they fit in to my perception. peace!

  • @calebsmoustache You'd do the same so shut the fuck up.

  • @SuperFurryWalrus He's just mad because they ditched the mustaches.

  • @joegar317 I miss the moustaches. They made them the band they are today.

  • they went from the allman brothers to the jonas brothers

  • This was filmed in 1976.

  • @ToolshedEd3TF nice one,lol

  • @ToolshedEd3TF

Hahaha... yes, it seems to!! The band and their songs are the best for me... but they're always strange dressed and hairstyle!!

  • Youth and Young Manhood is so good, and this song is so under-appreciated.

  • @upjd5y toatally agree wi u man!! some album

  • Now these guys get pampered in top hair salons and live in Hollywood style cribs.

Grow your hair guys and get rootsy again.

  • @welshcasual i hear ya but the cribs arent hollywood style thier 200,000 dollar country homes..theres people her that pay that much for horses..lol

  • New material is just as good as old, if not better in some ways. (not as raw) You people are just pissed off that they aren't the band no one knows about, but when you turn someone on to them, people are stunned at the find. I first heard Molly's Chamber the same way you all did, from the VW commercial. So, whoever at that ad agency put it in there, they trump you all.

  • @dufushipster i really doubt most people on here first heard mollys chambers in a volkswagen advert

  • they really really look like they are in the '70s and its pretty badass

also their new stuff isnt terrible its just not as good

  • @gartho187 I cannot stand Only by the Night, but yes. they had a lot of Led Zeppelin and Rolling Stones influence

  • they really really look like they are in the '70s and its pretty badass

  • 2003??? wow they look like theyre from the 60's LOL ILY KOL!!!!

  • I'm an old dude, and I would compare early KOL to early Byrds or other mid-60's bands. Great bands emulate but not copy their heroes/influences, then move on to find their own identity. That's what these guys have done well. There is no mistaking them for someone else. Still liking what they do, still inventive.

  • @knobdragon really? to me, the last 2 albums sound like they're copying other bands. their unique sound seems to have completely gone.

  • i wouldn't call them sell outs. thats a cliche and just plain wrong. the thing is the first two albums are quite different from each other but still really great and unique. now they just sound like U2 with an old country singer. their creativity just seems to have left them.

  • The differnce between The Beatles and KOL is, The Beatles were so big, no one could actually hear the band at their live gigs, so they stopped touring. Although KOL could soon get to that point, they played hyde park, stadiums are just the next step.

  • wow.... he was really ugly.... thanks God for the personal style......

  • @Joezema

    ugly?? its just hair =)

  • the bassist wuz like 15 here

  • in the end, its like they are the open band for Led Zep or something, fucking awesome!

  • I love all four of KOL CD's but Only by the Night is by far the BEST. Every song on that album has 4 or 5 stars on my iPod. I saw them in concert last night in Atlanta and it was AMAZING. They sounded awesome LIVE. It was my first KOL concert. I'm going again on the 25th in St. Louis. It's the last concert of this tour. I can't wait!! If you get the chance to see them live, do it. It's well worth the money. Caleb's voice is amazing and every member of the band is great!

  • @TurboSS7423 i love all the albums too man , my fav is prolly Because of the times tho , Seems like everyone has a different KOL album that is their fav , thats the mark of a great band.

  • What happened to king of leon? have changed, the previous record was brutal, now they are half emos

  • wtf? how's this guy have 0 videos?

  • This song reminds me of the allman brothers

  • I just had an idea. In the studio version during the last chorus a piano comes in I am sure. Recently KOL have had a 5th member on stage playing extra guitar/piano parts, it would be great if they started playing this again and got some piano in there at the end.

  • @FooKing93 thats not a fifth member its just there their support acts who stay on stage with them for some reason. i'm pretty sure they dont actually play anything

  • Wonder if the moustache will make a reappearance lol

  • @rybrun1 same here mate. This is the best album by far but I would have never heard it without the last one. And no I don't suck dick.

  • nice song i like it

  • 0:00 - 0:10 seconds " Mario Bros" lol

  • Best KOL song!

  • best band in history? A song is great is when it "blows your hair back" This one does

  • Joe's Head is EPIC...!!!!!!!

  • I think its fair to not like a band's new album because its not to your taste, but if you don't like a band because they "sold out", that seems kinda stupid. :\

  • I wonder if any of the band members got hit by pigeon shit at this show?

  • this is before they started sucking dick

  • @Posterharpua they have never sucked dick my friend.

  • @Posterharpua

    Got it one brother

  • YEAHH!!!!!!

  • back when they were good

  • god damn, great version. love his phrasing in this one.

  • caleb he looks totally fucking awesome

  • good buzz.....this song

  • KOl is on a level not many other bands are. Every single one of the songs. Yes their old stuff is more authentic and grungy, but the new stuff is just as emotional. ITS ALL AMAZING and I've seen them 4 times and feel like I could see them 100 times more.

  • A couple months ago I posted a comment on here to everyone who said kol were sellouts with obtn. Regardless if you agree with me on that or not, if anyone's heard stuff from their new album, ( the song southbound inparticular) I think it's safe to say they've completely sold out. The new album looks like a dissapointment, as expected.

  • @SGplayer87 oh suck my ass

  • Probably my favorite KOL song. I wish i could say i liked them (or even knew who they were) back when it came out, but the fact is that i might not have ever known who they were with out their "sell out" cds.

  • Their whole style reminds me so much of the Allman bros.. I like it

  • There are a lot of independent films I like which most people would've never even heard of. They are not always necessarily better than mainstream movies though for the simple fact that they are low budget. I have also seen a lot of indy films that are absolute shit, which many people would rave about their quality simply because they are "different." Different and/or unconventional does not always mean better quality.

  • @TwanBeezy that philosophy is all fine and well but does nothing to explain how bad they've gotten. caleb's voice isn't unique at all now. it's all so BORING now. omit the word 'sellout' from your dictionary and focus on the music itself. the music before was different, raw, passionate- mumbled and bluesy. now it's overproduced and boring. boringboringboring

  • I mean, if you don't like mainstream music because of the way it sounds (assuming you think it all sounds the same), then that's fine. But if you dislike mainstream music for the simple fact that it's mainstream and/or popular, then you're entering into this whole other area of anti-mainstream just because "everybody else likes it" and the snobbery is ridiculous.

  • The point is, even those people who claim to be "anti-commercialism" are, in their own rights, a sellout. For example, people that feel a need to dress different than the norm to assert their anti-conformist beliefs. So, they get together with all their other friends who share the same identity, everybody TRYING to be different, ends up being the same. Like what you like because of how it looks or sounds, and drop the undertone bullshit.
