  • 1976....I was 16...I loved Marvin Gaye's music....i usually only had the pleasure to listen to this sweet song on the "school bus"....along with Al Green's beautiful music.. I still remember this song around the 74-75 era

  • great tune

  • Damn they just don't arrange like this anymore...musicians need to come back and start making music again!!!

  • I absolutely love this song. Anybody know where Theophilus London's remix is at? Can't find it anywhere on youtube.

  • still the bomb

  • I was 16 when i first layed eyes on this man at the Greek Theatre ~ WOW women wear throwing their panties on stage and i was in AWE of the moment REST IN POWER MARVIN I miss this era of music

  • This song has holds many memories of the great times spent dancing and partying in those days..Marvin was the man with the love to give through his music..

  • I think every body can relate to this song at one point in their life or another.

  • I wish I lived when this magic was made

  • @sarahschaelchlin

I did, and it was a great time, I look back and think, how and where did it go so wrong, the music, politics etc, nothing seems sacred anymore. I am a left over from the 60's

    :)

  • i have this album :)

  • 1 of the best songs ever.

  • @123456123907 wasn't even born yet when this man passed on and I love this, MOTOWN FOREVER.

  • @pimppo312 I was 12 years old; I still remember it like yesterday. My mom got a phone call from a close friend, and when she got off the phone she came in the living room and said she'd just been told that Marvin Gaye was dead. We were in shock. He was a genius.

  • 33 idiots represent about 333million more-We Love You Marvin

  • His music has pass the test of time!

  • @toni444444444444

    True indeed

  • quote the words of this song to any woman and watch her melt. lol

  • I would trade everything I own for a singing voice like Marvin Gaye's!

  • silky smooth by one of the greatest of all time!!! R.I.P. marvin!

  • I just took off my clothes without even noticing...

  • @seeafish marvn'll do that to ya!! should be a lot of babies named after him! LOL GB

  • What are the odds, I want you too

  • why men don't sang about women like this no more is crazy

  • It is something about Marvin's voice that just makes me melt! My goodness!! It's like he was so dang sexy! Marvin's sexiness is GROWN MAN SEXINESS!

  • It is sad but the first time I heard this song was on "Why Did I get Married?" when Jill Scott's character was looking at the officer guy lustfully and this song was playing in the background and I would always wait until that part comes on so I can hear the song then I found out the name and now I am hooked!! This song also reminds me of Detroit Michigan! I miss Detroit! Uh! Marvin you are awesome I promise

  • Who ever wrote that article above need to be tar and feathered..."light disco"" come on now. It was either R&B ,Soul or Funk..in the 70's. Some folx just don't know the difference between R&B-Funk-Soul. Disco is almost like a cuss word in the Black comminity.

  • @Superfoot Well 'Disco' is a watered down offspring of 'Funk'. The bpm tempo was notched up, and rhythm was softened with strings. There was a backlash because it was a music scene that was largely associated with blacks and the gay community. The lyrics in a lot of Disco songs during its commercial zenith were sexually ambiguous. There used to be events where the records were piled up and burnt. But I'd take the era of 'Disco' over what's being churned out now. Contemproary R&B is pitiful.

  • @Superfoot Marvin was very sceptical about the rise of 'Disco', and stayed away from it but he admired Donna Summer, and loved Johnnie Taylor's 'Disco Lady'. Motown wanted him to jump on the Disco bandwagon while it was hot, but he resisted. To appease the lable, he gave them 'Got To Give It Up', which was his take on Disco. The extended version was great for the Discos, and the edited version of the song went to number 1. But many great soul and funk artists didn't survive the sea change.

  • great song one of my all time fav's

  • 30 people are crazy.

  • Great song, and, BTW, Madonna made justice to this wonderful song; her version is really beautiful too.

  • Wow... I know at least 30 white viewed this!!! There's no way any black person could hate this :-)

  • Classic

  • Chi Chi Town

  • the harmonies..... so beautiful....

  • A sound that will NEVER DIE. I still listen to this song to remind myself that I will not be subjected to games. I take it a little farther. "THIS ONE WAY LOVE," no joy at all. I agree pimppo312 CLASSIC IT IS! At 20 years then, it still has the same effect today 11/24/11. By the way-"HAPPY THANKS GIVING TO ALL!"

  • @TheOnlyCJSimmons I feel you on that I still be wonderin why does it always have to be a oneway street Smooches!!!!!

  • @Allaziry It's okay. We tend to overlook some things and end up on that one-way street. Hey, don't give up for I haven't. Still believing God will bless me with the right MAN!! Have a good day. Smooches 2 U!!

  • Sooooo damn good.. can you say CLASSIC!!!

  • OHH! SO SMOOTH....REAL MUSIC....SOUL

  • When will we realize. How many times must we repeat these lessons. Or is it the price that has to be paid for such a thing to exist.? I can't answer, I have no answer, but I am humbled. Beautiful, truly beautiful.

  • In reality, it's a very sad song, speaking of unfulfilled desires, unidirectional love, and deep, intense passion...rejected. In the end, it speaks of M.G's time on earth.

  • THIS MAN IS THE GREATEST.....STILL!!!!!

  • Man my mom played this song when I was a little girl, and until I became a woman I did not know the power this man has in his lyrics.... I love this Man!!!

  • doesnt get much better than this...... classic

  • A work of musical Art .

  • This song is forever on my list of favorites. It would make the "desert island" cut! Marvin at his smoothest.

  • so sexy

  • ele e bom ... talvez o melhor

  • SEXY SONG ! NICE MARVIN!

  • This man was so ahead of his time! close your eyes and listen to his words love you Marvin!

  • 29 bitches who don't like this song?

  • Marvin invokes a deep passion of Love, Lust and everything and anything between the two... He vocally personafide Romance and surrealness..

  • @noirnoticvibe i think when god was handing out musical talent he was standing in the front of the line..

  • @bettydaw1970 I think he was somewhere in the middle. All the greats that came before him got it good then it was perfected in Marvin. Now you have the leftover "talent" alive in the bums of today's musical era. Such a sad time for "music" if you ask me.

  • @MrLazlott I dont think you really pay attention to music today if you think that, check out toro y moi

  • Toni Pearen's "I want you" is a totally different song!!!!

  • Sex...on...a...stick!!! They just don't write music like this anymore...

  • @123456123907 so what.. fucking hipster

  • One of the most beautiful love song in the world and I only slight exaggeration, the last album out of the great Marvin Gaye. I listen to each in tears, perhaps it is by what it reminds me of the memories of teens

  • marvin is the best that ever was or ever will be. cathy

  • @MrPabloMartinI obviously, your idea of passion and emotion is in line with pop music. Definetly not passion and emotion as it relates to pure soul.

From that gorgeous strings to the funky congos, that searing guitar lick and just the overall build up to Marvin's silky vocals and those masterful lyrics sang with so much passion. • I love you still Marvin~~

  • When I hear this song I envision a sexy man, great looks, Morris Chestnut/ Will Smith walking through a large crowd and a spot light is following his steps towards me, never ending wanting this person to reach into my arms, but the song is such a teaser, it ends before he touches my hand, SO I Play the damn song over and over and over again! So dreamy!!!

  • @neishaguy ayy me too, i imagine idris elba walking in my direction and our shoulders brush lightly. i drop my purse and bend over invitingly to pick it up. when i get up our eyes meet and he grabs me and kisses me forcefully right about the time when Marvin starts to sing and yall know what happened after that lol
