  • amazing video, great playing..

ur a very good tutor lol, will tell u when my video is up playing the song :P

  • thanks man.... ibanez rg good choice.... i have emg pickups on mine tho i like it alot better

  • Nice tutor video! Playing isn't horrible at all, it's just the tone via camera that doesn sound so great

  • anyone know a video that explains the intro?

  • Nice vid. man... appreciate u... subscribed!

  • whammy 4 or 1 are u using?

  • These beats are so harsh that i want to tear off my own eyelids and foreskin and shove them deep into my colonic region whilst singing the national anthem

  • I've almost got it down. But I like an arrangement that doesn't pause.

It's really hard on the muscle on the front of the leg. It's funny, cause I'll switch to my other foot and suddenly be able to play it better.

  • thanks for posting, this saved me a load of time.

  • thanks alot i fanally learned it :)

  • hey are you playing a prestige? and is that a martin hiding in the background? if so you have the same two guitars i do. wierd.

nah its not a martin i wish! its a morris

    thanks for watching

  • Thanks man i finally lern this solo. Congratulations.

  • thanks this video I learn it, then I upload a video of playing this... cheers Thank you

    Good teach!

  • Also most of the digitech Rpxxx's have this effect for cheap, along with the many other effects.

  • i have the 3000 or something of that effect board, but i would still prefer a seperate pedal :)

  • you use Boss Me 50? cause i got the same...

  • Wah pedals are any where from $30-$200 depending what you want. I would be getting the basic $30 one because im cool like that :)

  • I can do this and I only have one arm.

  • dam your good man :)

  • that sounds sooooo cool

  • How much does that Wammy Pedal worth? I want one :) xD

    Nice vid

  • well played

  • Where would i be able to find a 2nd hand digitech whammy for 100-150 $?

  • Ebay

  • L O L ^^

  • thanx for the whammy rhythm but your playing is horrible o.O

  • @ScreamForMe88z

    thanks :p

  • Have to agree with many others. great video man.

  • dude! nice vid helped a lot :D

  • hey dude that was nice I did a vid with this part thanx for the vid, it helped keep rocking

  • Nice.

Helped me with my whammy technique, thanks.

  • I can do the arpeggio...I have the Digitech Whammy pedal...I have the necessary effects...for some reason or another I just can't seem to nail this one down...

  • try slowing it all down and practice the foot beat with the arpeggio ^^

  • such a beautiful song

  • nice socks i want them

  • wow thats awesome! i want a whammy pedal so bad lol.. cheaz dude

  • rob waade

does your whammy pedal have a slight delay at all (not a delay effect). as in whammy response time?

  • I thought it was called octave shifting, not whammy-ing? O_o

  • yes whammying is whammy bar

  • @Ezro56

The pedal is called a Whammy Pedal

  • The Digitech Whammy pedal does many things including octave shifting. You can shift frequencies with a whammy bar too, hence the name.

  • what is the thing called so you can get the eco sound? :O is it from the guitar or is it a pedal or something?

  • It's called a "Delay" effect, lots of amps have it built into them, but I'm sure some pedals will also have that effect as an option.

  • it helped me! you're good!

  • thank u

    this helped me a lot

  • would a digetech whammy pedal work?

  • hahaah

  • what?

  • the digitech IS the whammy pedal, so yes, it would work quite well.

  • ok good kuss that's what i got

  • thats what joe uses for this one, good vid btw:)

  • he uses a digitech whammy

  • no, a wah pedal wouldnt shift notes up +1 octave so would not work

  • can you use a wah pedal

  • Wow, thanks a lot.

This really helps with the effect.

  • which setting is the whammy pedal on?

  • i also have a RP250, and the whammy setting on it also sounds terrible! i think you need a real whammy pedal. or a digitech expression factory.

  • lol I've watched this vid several times and tried to replicate the riff using my Digitech RP250 Whammy setting, but it just sounds horrible! Do you actually need a real Digitech WH-1 Whammy pedal to get the sound right?

  • Anyone else have any success playing this with a multi-effects/modeling pedal?

  • no basically multi effects suck. you definitely want to invest in separate stomboxes if you want any decent tone at all.

  • Ever heard of the GT-8? That's one powerful multi- effect.

Much better than any of the other crap you can find out there.

  • I agree , the GT 8 is amazing.

  • Hell yeah.

You can play anything with it.

You've got Pre-amps, dual-channels, you can put in your own effects, you've got midi cables to download .syx files (effects) for the GT-8, you can hold a note for as long as you want (something like a sustain effect) by simply pressing the CTL pedal.

My brother even played Techno with it! Seriously, he played onside Botten Anna, and I have to say it sound pretty much excellent (and I don't exactly like Techno, but this was seriously rad o__o).

  • It's sound is simply amazing, ever since I have the GT-8 I don't even use my AMP anymore, I just connect the GT-8 to my computer and let the speakers put the volume (too bad my brother always moves it over to his computer XD).

I don't even want to imagine what a beast the GT-10 is.

When I was checking which Multi effect I should buy, I was wondering if I should buy the POD XT Live, or the GT-8, I picked the GT-8, and I seriously don't regret it even for one second :D.

  • I totally recommend the GT-10. I have it and i really dont need anything else! i can just take a Marshall cab and play GT-10 trough it and thats all i need. The tone is amazing, you can use it in any style of music really. only thing i dont like, is Wah in it. It sound a little stupid in it... or i just cant use it that well yet, theres so many things to adjust :D Anyway, everyone out there that like the previous versions of BOSS multieffectpedals, try the GT-10 out as well, its a goddamn beast!

  • You do know you can edit all the sounds, wah- effects, and etc there, right?

  • Yeap, i know. Why you ask? :D

  • "only thing i dont like, is Wah in it. It sound a little stupid in it... or i just cant use it that well yet, theres so many things to adjust :D"

Just edit the sounds and at what point the pedal does which %.

  • Well... i have adjusted the wahs range from 0% to 100% but it still sounds that there is not enough range. though i have a Dunlop Crybaby as wah pedal now.

  • My dads friend let me use for a while and its the best!!! By far!!!! So many capabilities!!!!! U got to get it!

  • what pedals u need??

  • you are the best thanx ¡¡¡

  • thanks sooo much man!

helped alot, i fell in love with that part the first time i heard it!

  • This helped me out so much, Thanks :)

I've only got a Pitch Shifter Expression Pedal on my Zoom G2.v with does +1Octave, but it still sounds just as good :)

  • shut up u stupid brit.

  • lol stupid and brit doesnt go together . although stupid american has a nice ring to it

  • this is gonna help a lot of beginners...who dont know how to use the whammy..nice video

  • You dont play the satriani part right, at one point you are of beat and playing a 3/4 bar instead of the 4/4, also you should practize a bit more before sending in a video to teach people stuff like this. That being said, thanks for the wah lesson, nice socks too hehe.

  • its not a wah lesson

  • he learns you "how" you shall play it.. not show us that he can play it perfect

  • dude what are the settings for the pedal? 1 octave up doesnt sound right.

  • No, its two, actually. The tabs are also wrong, but thanks for the lesson ;-)

  • do you have the correct tabs?

  • hm, dont know. But mines are more correctly then his tabs, I think. Ask Joe himself xD

  • KEEP PRACTICING DUDE!!!

  • Guys :) Take a look at my searching cover and see how this guy helped me ^^

  • boss me-50 ftw man.

  • yeaaaaahhh i have a ME-50 too, they kick ass.

but about a week after i got mine my friends dad bought a ME-80....there nuts.

  • digital BS

  • awesome

  • + one octave :)

  • it's only one octave?????

    or two????

  • ty, your video helped a lot :-)

I'm gonna try this on my old BOSS ME-33 that has a very nice bending effect associated to the expression pedal :-)

OMG, what's that between all those wires? A beatle? No, a good old Thompson SpeedTouch! :-p

  • nope u neeeed a whammy pedal :D. get one, there awesome! well worth the money

  • can you do the whammy bit without the pedal ?/ (stupid question)

  • use the whammy bar and stretch the notes an octave up? u could try it i suppose

  • That sounds like a recipe for 6 broken strings haha

  • Lol, try breaking the whammy bar. Lol those things can be delicate, one of the tuning pegs popped on mine while doing a trick lol. I need to fix that.

  • it was a joke

  • maybe with some tapping... but it would sound shitty

  • sweeeeeet

  • Cheers man thanks to you i can play this keep playing dude

  • thak you man! really effective

  • really nice man, u nailed it.

  • thanks a lot man! I really needed this! The tabs weren't enough for this part.

  • watch my video to see joe satriani play it :)

  • thanks very much : )

  • Staying in key, a very important factor.

  • i can play this!! :D :D

  • is it 6 notes - 8 harmony changes?

  • Hell yah man, thats extremely helpful. Makes it significantly easier to see whats actually going on.

  • thanks for this i jus got a whammy pedal so tbh i really appreciate what this vid teaches

  • massive help dude!! cheers. i knew the riff but the octive thing and putting it all together was messing with my brain!! this vid was exactly what i needed!!

  • its easy......it all goes together coz ur stomping to the beat.

maybe its easier for me coz i used to play drums....but yeh i find it pretty easy

  • cool video man just the basic! thats nice!

  • guys help me please..

i got a pod x3 live can i create this sound with this equipment or i need extra things?

  • i have the same thing, you are going to need a whammy pedal.

  • u need no more than a whammy pedal at +1 octave

  • I've never heard the song I don't listen to Sat, I was just looking for some cool whammy videos to experiment on, anyway cool lesson man, good playing

  • Of all the guys trying to teach people this song,...YOU are the Best! The only guy you need to teach this song. Thank you so much! You show everything!. Very thoughtful. First ,what to do slow. then how it sounds fast without echo then how it is supposed to sound with echo Then you show the foot pedal timing and tempo and then all together! You were great in teaching this. Thank You! Randy Terry, Reno Nv

  • make that a boss supershifter

  • I got a similar sound using a boss pitch-shifter on the T-arm setting

  • socks in flip-flops?

    weak...

  • Excellent video! I'm sure this video will help :D

  • Excellent video man! Waiting for my whammy to come through the mail at the moment, can't wait to get it. Great playing too!

  • ewstas bien pendejo

you´re a shit in the guitar

  • lol pushing the pedal while playing isnt hard at all man! your wicked player dont get me wrong but i dont even think about it when i play solos while using a wah for example

  • using a wah pedal while ur playing and keeping ur timing right as u play this are 2 very different things m8

  • What kind of whammy pedal do you use?

  • what to do..the whammy pedal ?

    delay.'?...

  • Props man. I learned a lot from this video. In fact, I think I got it down now. Check out my video of me playing this solo. Here is the URL to it.

    youtube(dot)com(slash)watch?v=32v9ipGqWYI

I appreciate this tutorial man. Couldn't have learned it as easily without it!

  • what song are u playing? it sounds nice but i don't know the song...it is just a riff? or u got it from a song? thx!

  • its a joe satriani song names 'Searching' off his album 'is their love in space'

forgoten track number, and its just thew whammy riff from the song.

  • thanks man

  • What are the effects? I mean obviously whammy, but what echo, modulation, and what speeds etc etc

    Good video.

  • Really ty man xD

  • That was nice! just a shame I cant borrow your whammy pedal

  • Damn, turn the volume off when you arent playing.

  • Good Lesson for all.Well explained.

  • Wicked mate wicked! Post more lessons :D

  • Hmm.. great lesson. but the actual lick is wrong. If you have a good ear and you listen to the live version here on youtube you'll notice it. This is basically the basics on it though. Just find the good riff.
