I have read the police reports. The officers still acted inappropriately as Mr. Meyer did not threaten Senator Kerry, himself, or others. Resisting arrest seems counterintuitive when there was not anything illegal to necessitate the arrest.
Senator Kerry (or the students) could have put an end to situation immediately, but he didn't, he is a coward.
First amendment issues aside, it doesn't take a taser to restrain someone when there are that many police.

The arresting officer said that he was being arrested for inciting a riot. That was not in the official charges. There is no mention of trespassing in the official charges or the police recommendations for charges to be filed.

I certainly dont think that, but if a person is resisting arrest, then of course he should be tasered. What if meyer had grabbed an officers gun? The thing is, they gave meyer plenty of opportunities to stop resisting and for some reason, he thought he could incapacitate all of the officers and escape. Actually thats incorrect. Tasers are used to gain compliance when a person is resisting arrest. Tasers are placed much lower on the use of force continum, so much so that there are very few situations that a taser could replace a gun.
Well, they had already informed meyer that they were going to speak with him outside after he asked his 1 allowed question. You see, the cops were behind him and people started filming all of a sudden because of his crazy behavior before the video was taken. He was already in custody, but they allowed him to ask his question. For all of you who have no idea what its like to be tazed- NEVER tell anyone that they would rather have had their arm cut off than had been tazered. Unfortunately, I haven't seen evidence to support many of the allegations that have been made by the officers against Meyers. Right now, I'm in the process of reviewing the police reports online at NBC. The event was disrupted in a large part because of the actions of the officers, so no I have not concluded that the arrest was legal.

The administration and police are using 'investigations' to stall. Notice that they refuse to comment on whether tasers will be banned. Notice that they say that they want students to 'have a safe environment'. Notice that they say that tasers protect this 'safe environment'. So the definition of 'safe' for the administration and the understanding of the protestors are very different.

However, if you remove the force options between none & deadly force, the only escalation option would be deadly force.
Police are allowed to respond to force with the next higher available level of force if all they have is nothing or deadly force that narrows the options a lot.

The arresting officer said that he was being arrested for inciting a riot. That was not in the official charges. There is no mention of trespassing in the official charges or the police recommendations for charges to be filed.
Resisting leaving is not a criminal charge, btw.

I certainly dont think that, but if a person is resisting arrest, then of course he should be tasered. What if meyer had grabbed an officers gun? The thing is, they gave meyer plenty of opportunities to stop resisting and for some reason, he thought he could incapacitate all of the officers and escape. Actually thats incorrect. Tasers are used to gain compliance when a person is resisting arrest. Tasers are placed much lower on the use of force continum, so much so that there are very few situations that a taser could replace a gun.

He clearly broke the law, police tried to do him a favor by simply escorting him out instead of arresting him , but he went nuts. The notion that the police are not allowed to escort people off of private property because it is a disturbance is ridiculous. He was arrested for asking a question like you were arrested for raking, its a distortion of what really happened.

He did go nuts at first, so they took him to the floor.
But Andrew then asked the officers while he was on the ground to let him go so he would walk peacefully out. They didn't listen to him. After they warned him he would be tazered, he shouted out "Don't Taze me bro!" The officers didn't listen to him then either. The man was publicly embarrased in front of 100 people for asking a series of controversial questions, lastly being about Skull & Bones.

Also, senator kerry's office made a statement saying basically the same thing that the cops did, about him charging to the mic. You have to admit, that its far fetched that so many people lied about it. The event was disrupted by meyers yelling, which started long before the police were involved, dont discount that he broke the law before police intervention.

Unfortunately, I haven't seen evidence to support many of the allegations that have been made by the officers against Meyers. Right now, I'm in the process of reviewing the police reports online at NBC. The event was disrupted in a large part because of the actions of the officers, so no I have not concluded that the arrest was legal.

It seems to me that the evidence of the officers has not been disputed by anyone was there (and there were many witness's) so its reasonable to conclude that they were not lying.

He was more than rude, he was disruptive to the forum, which is a crime. Charging towards the mic after swearing at a staff member demanding he be heard. Interupting another student while he was talking with kerry by grabbing the mic and yelling at him. Meyer was extremely rude, but thats not the crime he comitted.

OK!! I am inpartial and unbias,I"v watched enough of thease videos to develope an opinion / perspective. If Andrew was less self absorbed and didn't drivel on the way he did and just ask the question when given the opportunity, he may not have sufferd the same concequence.
There were other people there who I'm shure also had questions and there is only so much time in a day for questions retorical, redundant or otherwise.

Hi TheRealJChristopher, It was because Andrew Meyer asked a question Mallo could not understand. She didn't have the attention span to wait for Kerry to say, "That's a very important question". In her ignorance, she thought Meyer was badgering Kerry. She was probably in a bad mood because she was on OT and exercised completely poor judgement. Then in her report, instead of taking responsibility, she blames student Max Tyroler for telling her to do it.

From what I saw on a video the guy looked like he charged back towords the podium and that's when more cops jumped in to stop him. Anyone that gets charged during a speach will physically get gang tackled.
Do you personally know this Andrew guy? Who knows what actions could he have taken if the cops had not subdued him.
Basically he got what he deserved for causing a disruption. Tazered probably not.

Dude, I know planes hit the building. I'm talking about these OTHER explosions that happened in the building. WHile the towers were burning, there were puffs of smoke that came out of the building FAR below the points of impact of the planes. Again, I wasn't intending on saying that planes never hit the builidng. I'm just saying that there were bombs in addition to the plane.

No one in the student body tased anyone on campus that is true, but the tasing is the aftermath of the previous b behavior of trying to subvert one individuals right to express himself. For those who find this hard to fathom I would assert that perhaps you are exactly the same as the people you condemn. And if the situation were reversed would you be the ones reaching for the taser?

The administration and police are using 'investigations' to stall. Notice that they refuse to comment on whether tasers will be banned. Notice that they say that they want students to 'have a safe environment'. Notice that they say that tasers protect this 'safe environment'. So the definition of 'safe' for the administration and the understanding of the protestors are very different.

Tasers are not used by police as an alternative to a firearm. If you pull a gun on police they will not taser you, they will shoot to kill.

However, if you remove the force options between none & deadly force, the only escalation option would be deadly force.
Police are allowed to respond to force with the next higher available level of force if all they have is nothing or deadly force that narrows the options a lot.

Not always so, Although police could just shoot a person who has a gun there are plenty of cases where other means including tasers have been used to save the life of the suspect as well as the police. I have video I can post of that as well.

Of those not 1 has been attributed to the taser. The 150 are deaths that occurred after someone was tased. Most of them were drug related.
