my speed triple will lift in second without the clutch its a standard bike the only mods are crash protectors is there any advantage in using the clutch im just wondering. i dont want to try 3 rd gear wheelies because they would be a bit quick for me
You're right, a standard Speed Triple will lift in 2'nd without clutch. Personaly, I find clutch ups safer (after the scary learning period), because if you power up a wheelie you have to be higher up in the revs. And even the tiniest throttle movement is like letting off a grenade! But when you clutch it up the bike stands up at lower revs, much less twitchy and easier to find balance point. But practice low ones heaps before going anywhere near balance point. hope that makes sense.
I can't hold mine that long in one gear but I lift mine in 1st then continue through to 3rd but I can't keep it up long in 3rd. Just back off for split second and shift without clutch. Just practice shifting gears too wary in the rev range to keep the wheel up and as you get more confident leave the gear change later and later in the revs until you can keep it up then repeat the process for the next gear.
Awesome! I learned on my gs500 and I had to clutch up because she won't power up. I found the best thing I did was to adjust the clutch so that it engaged at around 1/2 inch. What was discouraging me before this was I would always slam the clutch leave against my nuckles.
sweet wheelie. longest wheelie i ever rode was a hair over a quarter mile. unfortunately i drifted too far on the shoulder and hit gravel when i came down. spilled the mother fuckin bike and screwed up my leg.
really helpful video im starting to increase the height of my wheelies but i was searching around internet about how to wheelie and one page i found said that some bikes have a tip over gauge which shuts the bike off if it goes to vertical something to do with fuel injection just wandering if the speed triple has one or if its false :)
No problems at all with sensor cutting off power doing wheelies. I even know a guy who can scrape the reflector without sensor causing problems. Though the sensor may stop the engine if the bike was on its side though. Good luck and stay safe.
@1050hooligan the sensor is for oil pessur some bike pull oil from the front so when you wheelie the oil runs to the back and you run it dry i know gsxr's where good for that
Not sure about speed, but the tacho reads about 3500K. Because I've had a fair bit of practice I can pretty easily clutch it up as low as 3k in second. At 5k it jumps up fast. I find it easier and safer to ride out a clutched wheelie than powering one up. Mainly because you can clutch it up at lower rev's, so the throttle inputs aren't as snatchy and brutal.
I haven't learnt how to shift on one wheel yet. I just ride them out in 2nd. Or third if there's a crest in the road to help me clutch it up. You can still go a long way even with out shifting if you're near the balance point. But it's very important to only gradualy progress to towards balance point, or it can be pretty dangerous. Its a good idea to get used to using the rear brake to stop the bike from looping if you're gonna go to balance point.
Thanks, I mounted the helmet cam to a short piece of wooden doweling (broom handle)that was duct taped across the top of the head lights. (just under the instrument cluster)
Hi, it's a Speed Triple. They're made in England by Triumph. They've got a 3 cylinder 1050cc engine. Not sure if they've ever been sold in the Philippines.

Thanks! Camera is a POV1. it's mounted on a piece of pvc pipe which is then lashed across the headlights with tape. Sounds rough but works OK.

i thought u can flip it if u power wheelie ?
how doez it flip anyway?
Bloodsport7 2 years ago
@Bloodsport7 you can flip any wheelie, too much power not enough or not at all on the rear brake will result in a flip, or worse...

@badazzrs Doesn't seem to be a problem with the S3. I guess the pickup must be down the back.

Hey, about how fast are you going when you clutch it up in second??? I can power my S3 up, just can't ride it out.

Yeah powerups aren't the safest. When are you shifting into second? Redlining first? orrr 9000Rpm?
