When Skynyrd dis-banded for a decade following the 1977 plane crash There was a void there for a couple of years.Long Years.Molly Hatchet was like a breath of fresh air when they came out in 1979.They were the real deal kick-ass Southern rock band for most of The 80s.
Thanx alot Molly Hatchet and rest in peace Danny Jo.
my name is jimmy i was born in florida and now live in oregon; you can take the man out of the south but you can''t take the south out of the man. MOLLY HACKETT ROCKS DANNY JOE BROWN REST IN PEACE
one awesome very fan dedicated band , seen them in ohhhhh like 86 ish at the rosemont (horizon) out side in the beer garden for the carnival show , their bus broke down just out side of indy 2/1/2 hours late in the pouring down rain ,sparks flying they all were getting shocked by the equipment and they played one hell of a show for us die heads who came for a free show !
These guys rocked!! I saw them open up for 38 Special and the Allman bros. Both times they kicked ass and blew away 38 and the Allmans with their energy. The lead guitarist, Dave Hulbeck tried to pick up my girlfriend before one of their shows in Hartford Ct. opening for the Allmans. I did not mind because my girl was hot and he had good taste! You guys rocked and had more stage prescence that the other so called southern rock bands!!
I listened to molley hatchet from about 76 to 2000+ the first time i see them live on computer...the live versions are incredibly quality comparible to studio versions. that makes their music even more genuine to me! thanks. wjn.

Hatchet and Blackfoot. My southern rock. They brought it up a couple a notches. Hell they even toured with metal bands of the day. UFO,BOC, you name it. Saw Def Leppard open for Blackfoot,1981. Michael Schenker Group open for Hatchet,1982.
THESE GUYS WERE LOVED WITH OPEN ARMS IN BOSTON WE NEEDED THEM TOO MUCH DISCO CRAP AT THAT TIME WHEN THEY CAME WITH OUTLAWS THAT WAS IT THEN THEY CAME BACK WITH THE ALLMON BROTHERS THATS IT I COULNOT WAIT TILL THEY CAME BACK AGAIN AND THEY DID AND WE GOT A CHANCE TO TALK WITH DANNY JOE BROWN AWSOME

I got to see mh once, with Danny joe brown!I think thats one of the few times i got to see one of my idols!!!saw them a few months later,& it was Phil mccormick.not saying hes bad,but there will never be another danny Joe!!!R.I.P!!!!
Shut ta freak up with the Gats and Noles shit ya bunch a snot nosed D-bags !! This tune is a classic about good ole Fla Cracker pride and a Southern Rock legacy. I know respect is a foreign word. But maby try to fake it.
@joelessner you didnt see the real molly hatchet the version you saw has only one origonal member in the band Dave Hlubek whos on the far left watching this and in the fake bobby ingram version hes on the far right.I never will understand why Duane Roland sold bobby the rights to the name he should of sold it to dave not bobby.I guess he did it to make a quick buck.its just not right that guy bobby ingram owns the rights to the hatchet name a band he didnt even start..this is the real hatchet!
GO Gators and stop hating the non Seminoles *cough* song. Oh gosh I'm listening to it now, it's in the Swamp, you know the Swamp the last place we kicked your asses. AGAIN.
I just love reliving my teenage years watching this Don Kirshner footage.Much of this stuff a saw when it origionally aired. This clip here I saw,I was 14.

did the other bands mentioned in this song have a problem with these lyrics? Not exactly flattering to Skynyrd, Allmans, etc.

When MOLLY HATCHET made it big in the late 70's to mid 80's, i thaught they were
a Heavy Rocikin' Group.RONNIE VAN ZANT and guys in HATCHET were very good
friends.RVZ was to produce the 1st Album by M H before his tragic passing on the
night of 10-20-77.I think M H verson of Free Bird is verycool and the kick start for
LYNYRD SKYNYRD coming back for their '87-'88 TRIBUTE TOUR to now. Peace.
