Ah, yes - this was in a time when children could enjoy the Star Trek toys made for them. Now, the moment they are sold in stores, every forty-year old basement dweller buys every one of them and then re-sells them on ebay at 200% markup.
that is the saddest sounding use of "Star Treeeeeek!" as a musical refrain that I have ever heard, it sounds like 6 or 7 women whose puppies all just died. and the announcer sounds like he has a cold.
@applemac555 I know, thank goodness they reminded kids of that, they might have wasted all their time instead pretending to travel through mustard or used the Ent saucer section as a frisbee.
It's not just that. Saucer separation, back then, was an emergency measure. The two sections were attached to each other pretty firmly, and if you were going to separate them you had to seal each section off and then blow a series of explosive bolts (it's emsphasized in the Star Trek manga from Tokyopop where in one story we see it executed). The two sections can only be reattached in drydock. The Galaxy Class was the first ship designed to regularly separate and reattach its two sections.
I just realized, this enterprise is the Refit version used in Star Trek the Motion Picture. I don't remember "the Apple." But it must have happened. hehe thanks for posting this great commercial.
LOVE the music and the way you see the kids arms holding them. Today's version would have shown footage from the show to make you think you're getting the real thing, not some stupid plastic piece of crap. I would have totally gotten this though! :)
I never see these on Ebay so I can safely say that they are long gone. I imagine they must be worth a pretty penny these days. I'd love to get that Klingon battle cruiser!

I love how the ships travel 10 times faster than in the movie, thanks to the kids playing with them.

this is so interesting, a detachable saucer back in the 70's, when they didn't introduce it till The Next Generation used it in one of the episodes.

wow, I never saw this ad. If I did I would have owned them. Nice retro commercial, too.

...if I had known about this earlier in life, I would have bugged the hell out of my folks to get me the Enterprise and vulcan shuttle.

Most of them were dumped in Canada and the UK, their US release was limited. I found a ton of these as a teen at a clearance warehouse.
They go for $200 and up in the box when found, the Vulcan Shuttle goes for a lot more.

I never knew that the Enterprise-A could detach it's saucer module like the Enterprise-D could! ;)

I got the Enterprise as a kid. It was so fun to play with. I must've spent so many hours imagining all kinds of adventures. Good times!
