@desertfalcon Thanks for the "offer," desertfalcon, but true salvation only exists through the redemptive blood of Jesus Christ, the Creator and Redeemer of mankind. And I boast not of myself; no, I boast in the love of Christ alone.
For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do. Mark 7:8
Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. Col 2:8
But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Matt 15:9
You read the bible more carefully. God honors those who keep HIS laws/commands, not man's
You should understand the Catholic faith more carefully. We honor His laws and commandments and that includes the Sacred Traditions that His Church, the "Pillar of Truth" teaches us.
What nonsense. The literal body and blood of Christ are in no part related to a catholic mass. Jesus is available to everyone at any place at any time. The old covenant was done away with and we are to come straight to Him, not to some earthly, fallen and sinful man. Jesus came to be our mediator, and we no need for another to fill such a slot.
1 Cor. 11:29 "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's Body."
St. Ignatius of Antioch, ordained by the Apostle John, stated, "They, (heretics), abstain from the Eucharist and from prayer, because they confess not the Eucharist to be the flesh of our Saviour, Jesus Christ."
I am not interested in what a jesuit has to say about anything. Where in the Bible does it say that John ordained this man? Nowhere. This is strictly catholic doctrine, and has no roots in the Word of God.
And by catholic standards, yes, I am a "heretic," because I place the Word of God above all men on this earth, including (and especially) popery, tradition, and anything else man decides is above Scripture. May we have another Reformation.
@xxzzxx99 What's a "cathoic?" And, what does "ironical" mean?
Also, you should do your research, because 1) you don't know what "Bible" I refer to, and 2) you apparently don't know that the Roman Catholic "Church" rejects the Greek Textus Receptus.
The even "funnier" thing? True irony exists in that everything you just said was untrue.
@benglishtea EVerything I said was the truth, you've just been taught lies. As for ironical, look it up in a dictionary. As for the Greek Textus Receptus, its a moot point. Its a different translation of the canon which catholic bishops chose. (minus the books which the depraved Luther decided, to take out on his own authority, an act of immense pride).
@xxzzxx99 1) your opinion, not "truth." 2) I don't got by what I'm taught, I go by what I study for myself. 3) Ironical is like using "ain't" -- it's not passable for scholar work. 4) You're calling Luther "prideful," and the Roman Catholic UnChurch is not? Look at the name of the pope -- they teach he's "God on earth." Pride? Pride? You can't see the forest for the trees.
@benglishtea Seeing as how you're a scholar, can you give a reference for 'God on earth'? Coz it sounds like something you made up. And yes Luther was very prideful and depraved. The catholic church teaches humility. But no one is perfect. We all have pride. (not as much as Luther though, who was filled with it as was his spiritual, father Satan)
@xxzzxx99 Surely you are familiar with the term "Vicarius Filii Dei?" The "pope" is given that title--not something "I made up." This means that man has elevated himself to the station that is only reserved for God alone. The pope is not "the vicar of Christ," as the Roman church says he is--he's just a man. And you say "humble?" As for Luther, who isn't prideful? Who isn't depraved? You are equally so when compared to him. Our righteousness is as filthy rags. Roman church = antichrist power.
@benglishtea This title "Vicarius Filii Dei?" is a fraudulent one created out of nothing by Ellen Gould White, inventor of the Seventh day Adventists. You will never find it in a Catholic document.
@xxzzxx99 You don't know your history very well. The earliest known use of "Vicarius Filii Dei" dates to the 8th or 9th century, the Donation of Constantine. Quote: "An article in the April 18, 1915 issue of 'Our Sunday Visitor: What are the letters on the Pope’s crown and what do they signify if anything? The letters on the Pope's mitre are these: Vicarius Filii Dei, which is a Latin for Vicar of the Son of God."
In 1922, the publication denied it's on the tiara, but not the term itself.
@benglishtea If you read the rest of the WIKI article that you quoted you'll have noted the following: "the Latin words for this designation ( "Vicarius Filii Dei" ) are not inscribed, as anti-Catholics maintain, on the Pope's tiara." Also "The writer of the 1915 article later withdrew his statements"
@benglishtea First, don't be silly--just look at my previous comment. I already said that a later publication, in 1922, denied the phrase being on the Tiara, but not the phrase itself. Do you even read my comments before responding? Guess not.
Second, you're calling me crazy? Here's a thought for you: is this behavior satisfactory in the eyes of God? I hardly think that name-calling is a "holy" trait. Things sure are ran differently in the Roman Catholic Church.
You know, I think it's remarkable that Father Mickler seems to offer sermons that give positive spins even to things that aren't so wholesome in the best possible light. Obviously some things ought to be vehemently condemned, but I think that, too often, such condemnation becomes a crutch for a preacher. This ought to be avoided, especially in a Catholic setting, lest some walk away with errant perceptions of things as totally depraved. My compliments, Father Mickler.
This place kinda looks like the inside of the Emerald City in The Wizard of Oz. I wonder what's behind the curtains there?

@desertfalcon Too bad you cannot find that teaching in the Bible. Sola Scriptura, my friend. Give me the bible and the bible only, without tradition.

John 6:53 "Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man and drink His blood, ye have no life in you."
2 Thess 2:15 "Therefore brethren, stand fast, and hold the traditions which ye have been taught, whether by word or by epistle."
You should read it more carefully. :)
