I know it's already too late to tell you this and that this LP is finish but I read the manual and on normal difficulty it said "If your character's VPs drop below zero, he will faint and remain in that state alive for quite a while. When the mission is completed, such characters will leave the game zone automatically" That's how Abala got out in your last mission even if you didn't carry him out. Only on Hard and Impossible difficulty do you need to carry them out. Anyway too late now.

Also you can get infite ammo for any rifle you have unlocked in your base if you press the Backpack looking button under the base inventory.

It restocks ANY ammo including rockets and machinegun ammo.

Exeptions are medical engineering items and grenades.

And throwable weapons.

Enemies that face you through walls when they don't know where you are, enemies that randomly patrol into banks, enemies that "just so happen" to turn around and notice the scout sneaking up on them, rather than concentrating on the machine-gun fire coming from in front of them. i found something quite useful concerning ammo. At least it worked for me in my Axis campagne. when your out of ammo for a weapon. you put it in the armory like you did, but then you press the sort inventory button on the left inventory of course. not yours. and normally you should have lots of ammo for the weapon you just put in. Side note tough, it doesnt work with grenades and medical/engineer stuff. only work with pistol, smg´s, heavy wep, and rifles. Of course, it might be a glitch..
