  • Religion means nothing to me. Quite frankly, I don't trust ANYTHING that has started wars.

  • one nation......under GOD

  • @popper4304

Which was added at the height of the Red Scare back in 1954. If you weren't a God-fearing, jingoistic American, then you were one of those pinko commies here to spy for Mother Russia. Don't get it twisted; the original as penned by Francis Bellamy specifically made no mention of religion.

  • @popper4304 and remember that the original pledge DID NOT hate that line in it :)

  • its so stupid that people are offended,

there are billboard saying athiest are going to hell,

    or stuff like that.

    no one cares about that.

when its somelike this everyone freak outs.

    WTF!

  • *Tallying up extra space I'm gonna have in heaven.* :)

  • @Twiztidguy These atheist billboards are really directed at other atheists to let them know they are not alone so they can feel a sense of community. How the hell is that an attack on christianity?? You're allowed to believe in any silly-ass thing you want and worship freely in this country and express it openly, so these billboards are just atheists freely expressing themselves as well. If that arouses some doubt and encourages people to question dogmatic beliefs -then good!

  • @Lennon4ever1 - why does anyone in the community care? How does that benefit anyone? If they dont want to be alone, why don't they just get a darn internet connection and meet the 99 percent of people on youtube who care nothing about anyone else nor god. Its pretty apparent most don't believe in god on youtube or any other website for that matter. Like i said that's just like me throwing a sign up that says I don't believe in Santa Clause whose with me? Its worthless and just annoying.

  • @Twiztidguy Well that's just too damn bad it annoys you! Geuss what? You don't have a right to 'not be offended' by free speech. That's all these signs are, but I geuss it's just fine with you if christians plaster their religion everywhere with their billboards..huh? Well that's a bullshit double standard! There's a stupid ass bible in every motel I've ever stayed in, but I know it's the motel owners' right to put them there whether i like it or not. that goes both ways pal!

  • @Lennon4ever1 Your attacking me right now because you're one of those hardcore "every christian can piss off" atheist. Anyways you just made my point. We all have a right to exercise freedom of speech. I think spending money every month to hope *YOU* dont spend an eternity in hell is being awfully generous. However sticking up a billboard that says clearly "I believe their is no god, you shouldn't either" is retarded and pointless. You should probably read that "Stupid ass bible".

  • @Twiztidguy You spend money every month to keep me out of hell?? Wow! Do you have any idea how insane that comment is? No, you probably don't. If you can actually believe in a mythical hell fabricated to scare and control ancient people, you're the one that's insecure and scared and obviously refuse to embrace rational thought! But spare me the condescending fake generosity and save your money...go spend it on some common sense!

  • @Lennon4ever1 - And apparently the purpose of atheism is to show your community that their not alone... Do you need somebody to hold your hand? You spend money on "Showing your not alone" while Christians spend money so when they get to heaven they get a crown for saving a soul. To a Christian getting a person saved is the same to you as pulling a kid out of a highway... or a person out of a burning building. Your argument your throwing at me is pathetic. Spend YOUR $ on some common sense...

  • @Twiztidguy What's the point? First you have to prove there is a soul that needs to be saved. Where is heaven and hell that we need to avoid? It amazes me that christians refer to these as real places! You have no evidence of any such thing being in reality and you call my arguement pathetic?? All you have is special pleading and the same old unsubstantiated claims that I've already heard! An atheist is a skeptic..that's all there really is to it.

  • @Twiztidguy Just remember Twiztidguy -You are an atheist too with regard to every other religion except your own! Funny how Muslims are just as convinced as you that their particular faith is the real deal. How do you know that you picked the right religion?? If Islam is correct, you're in as much danger of going to hell as I am! Fancy that! Believing that you'll be rewarded with 72 virgins in heaven will drive zealots to crash planes into buildings! -'Belief' is important.

  • @Twiztidguy Showing someone they are not alone is a pathetic cause now? I had a friend disowned from their family because they came out to their parents, gently and respectfully, that they know longer believed in god. Their father slapped them in the face and told them to get out. They were not allowed to take anything with them and they have been living at my apartment ever since looking for a way to support themselves. I would say they need support and to be reassured they are not alone.

  • @7jshelto - Its apparent that if they are living with anyone its showing their not alone. You don't have to be religious or non-religious to make someone feel they are not alone. Its called being a good person... I find your story a bit far fetched but ill give it to you.

  • @Lennon4ever1 - I wish I could have the time you have and most of these people have. Jumping around video to video commenting. "Jesus isn't real" "yeah don't read that stupid ass bible" "Your such a bible thumper" "What an incredible prisoner to superstition you are!" Seriously, I've never met people so insecure about themselves. Your scared bro, and this is the only thing that makes you feel better. Anyways ill see you on the other side. Well probably not... peace.

  • @Twiztidguy That 99% crap you pulled out of your ass BTW...Are you kidding?? There are loads of christians on youtube and they outnumber atheists by far so that should make you happy as hell! Atheists, though we are a growing minority, are still only about 15-18% of the U.S. population and need solidarity and to be more vocal against bigotry. And believing in Santa does'nt even compare with religious indoctrination and right-wing christians trying to legislate their so-called moralty on society!

  • @Lennon4ever1 "Though we are a growing minority"... And thats why the US is getting more screwed up everyday. Lets take the bible and prayer out of schools. Lets throw up billboards that say there is no god. Saying you believe in god is not bigotry. Puting people down because they believe in god, that is bigotry. Also that "so-called moralty on society!" SHOULD BE FRIEKEN "LEGISLATED". AS I SAID LOOK AT AMERICA. ITS TRASH. ITS GARBAGE. LOOK AT CASEY ANTHONY! She frieken walked FREE!!!

  • @Twiztidguy I never said it was bigotry to say you believe in God! I thought I was clear on the point that you are totally justified to do just that and worship freely. It IS bigotry when groups of christians resort to threats because atheists put up some signs and the phrases on them are'nt even aimed to insult you people. Even the phrase 'there is probably no god' is NOT an offensive statement. All you have to do is ignore the damn signs if you don't like them!

  • @Twiztidguy Prayer was not taken out of the schools genius, 'organized mandatory prayer' in public schools WAS taken out and rightly so! Teachers have no right to mandate that MY kid has to pray to your invisible friend. Public schools are not to become Sunday schools in a fair and open society that is supposed to be all inclusive and secular. You people can keep that nonsense in church where it belongs..or send your kid to christian school! Why is'nt that enough??

  • I have absolutely no qualm about ridiculing the self deluded retards. I say fuck them. Atheist should never apologize to a fool. They are the ones who have imaginary friends and preach there vile jesus poison to every living person they can get their hands on. They should be ashamed of themselves and the more contempt shown to them the better.

  • I view religion like a penis (don't laugh), it's fine to have one, it's fine to be proud of one, but don't go whipping it out in public and don't try to shove it down my children's throats (I don't have kids yet).

To all you bible thumpers out there before you give me shit about this, I'm a proud Roman Catholic!

  • @deltaenforcer93,

That is an effective (though exceedingly nasty) metaphor.

  • LOCK UP ALL PEOPLE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD! Stop brainwashing your kids with Bronze Age beliefs!

  • they have ''no'' beliefs.. so they have nothing to offer from nothing comes nothing..

  • It is actually a good "sign" that religious people get offended by this. If i TRULY and undoubtedly believed in God and that i was going to Heaven, then nothing in the entire world would bother me lol. As a matter of fact, id find a way to die just to hurry up and go there cause the waiting would be unbearable. The fact that this bothers them is because it makes them question their faith, which they have no confidence in, but are too scared to let it go. So they get angry.

  • @JabberCT

You think all these "Christian soldiers" would volunteer to take part in a cavalry charge against the Taliban or something... because wouldn't that be like an express train to heaven. But of course you're right, they do have doubts which is why they pour the zeal all the heavier.

  • @JabberCT - The whole reason this bothers Christians is because we KNOW we are going to heaven. All of the people that question whether or not god is real... think about reading a bible... think about going to church... Then they read a stupid billboard and they get damned to hell. Christian billboards are their to save souls because we care. Anti-christian billboards (In a christian mind) are like a billboard advertising a free cruise ship to the lake of fire A.K.A. hell.

  • @Twiztidguy What an incredible prisoner to superstition you are!

  • @Lennon4ever1 - think about it... what the heck is a anti-christian billboard saving me from? Seriously? Its basically just a direct attack against Christians. Maybe that i believe in something who the heck cares. Now all i want to do is post signs all over the place saying Santa clause isn't real and see how many people care. The sad truth is more would get upset over santa than jesus. What is happening to America? Nobody believes in the christian faith anymore and look where we are now.

  • lol @0:28.. picked to make the fundies think "those creepy mean old atheists always have something negative to say"... fucking bullshit it's all in the mind it's all stereotypes

  • The end of religion's tyranny over the minds of mankind can't come soon enough.

  • @50zcarsman generally religious people are unfit dullards who don't have the potential to ever amount to anything anyway.

  • @justsomedood1 oh yes, and NOT collecting stamps is one of my hobbies.

  • Many religious people oppose theocracy, as they should. Separating govt and religion is a wise choice. However Anti-religious sentiment, to the point of working toward it's destruction, is just as bigoted as the censorship religious authorities imposed in the past.

  • As a Server in a Family restaurant I dread going to work for the Sunday morning shift as I have to wait on people who gather in a big building together to compare clothing and have mass hallucinations. So whenever I'm running their food out to the table and they start to pray I make sure to be as intrusive upon their pointless ritual as possible calling out peoples food while they pray and slapping their food on the table :P

  • @EvolutionAFact Next time their prayer begins you should say to an adjacent waitress (loud enough for them to hear); "(Name of waitress), If you doubt the existence of God then there are many Atheist organizations you can find on the internet." ....I bet you don't get a tip. lol

  • @EvolutionAFact why? what is it that you are so afraid of?

  • Wow Finally a good news, religion is poison

  • FINALLY! wow... 269 likes and 1 disslike? nice.... VIVA LA REVOLUTION!!

  • FINALLY!

  • Pass this on if you agree. Mark the word gOD off of every bill that passes through your hands. Take a god bill and fold it almost in half so the crease is on the o of god then rip a tiny hole where the word god should of never been placed to begin with. Hell Sharpie it out. Sometime when I am smoking I will put the lit cig over the word god and burn it out. it makes a nice impression and if enough people deface it in this way who knows it may get taken off. THUMBS UP IF YOU AGREE PASS THIS ON!

  • @elliotbonsall- Most people don't know the Constitution aside from what their politicians bring up just like most Christians haven't actually read the Bible. And it's those who argue from a position of ignorance that are quickest and loudest with their opinions.

  • that "praise darwin" billboard is shit its making a huge stereotype and misunderstanding about atheists, making it seem as though darwin is our god. It wasnt a very good idea to put that one up

  • @zubestr Agreed.

  • "Religion is bullshit" - George Carlin.

  • those who would say that religion is for the weak and simple minded and the uneducated have only revealed that those without much education can be atheists: for they reveal their lack of knowledge of the great minds in the past and the present, who are anything but weak and uneducated..and in my line of work, i see plenty of atheists who are always looking for help in the form of goverment assistance and other welfare programs..ignorance is not biased to only those of faith.

  • man has tried, and continues to try to legislate what a person can believe or not believe. no law written by any government, no matter how oppressive it may be in acting upon that law to enforce it is able to make a person to believe or not believe. i find immoral people among those who believe in God and those who don't. every evil that is done under the sun is done by people of all creeds, cultures and worldviews.

  • @HermitintheRain everybody wants their freedom to believe what they believe. the true test of the freedom of speech, as found in each person, is whether they give respect to others the right to express speech that represents their beliefs, philosophies, worldviews and idealogies, no matter how offensive it may be. i find among christians and atheists hypocrites on both sides that want to silence the other when what one preaches and teaches is counted offensive by the other.

  • @HermitintheRain the true test of freedom of speech is not in giving room for such speech as is agreeable; but is rather proven by giving room to that speach objectionable..for neither atheist nor christian will be safe where freedom of speech is curbed..as soon as it is curbed against one view, it can be certainly expected that the speech that is currently tolerated will, in any given whim or generation, be outlawed in it.

  • @HermitintheRain does atheism allow room for people of faith? where nations have made atheism the state view (i.e., china and USSR and cuba), people of faith have suffered..where religion has been the state rule (i.e., iran and saudi arabia)..people outside that particular faith have suffered..i have lived on both sides of this issue..hypocrisy and intolerance is to be found on both sides.

  • From the time I left christianty I became a better person I no longer would I believe thier lies for I am godless and free. Religion your days are number soon you will be gone. Peace to one and all.

  • @albus23 Right on! I grew-up in a "devoutly religious" family, and I was

surrounded by hate and bigotry. All in "God's name". When I became an

athiest, my life changed dramatically for the better! Like you say, peace

    to one and all.

  • This makes me love my Albuquerque SO much! I love how we're all represented here. Atheist, Christian, and all the rest!

  • I am an athiest. I am a FREE man! I don't believe in the hate

and bigotry that is espoused by organized religion. The world

would be a FAR better place if religion was expunged. Look at

the wars that have been fought in "God's name"! How many

people have to die, fighting for the church?

  • Freedom of Speech...enough said. If you force anyone to believe anything, welcome back to 14-15th century Europe...it won't happen! Whether or not you or I agree is irrelevant...these people have a right to express themselves too!

  • It may not change anyone's mind, but it might let the hidden atheists feel less isolated.

  • @elliotbonsall You're absolutely right. The problem is that there are people in our government who are afflicted with religion. Religion is a disease and just like any disease, people who are infected by it can't help but to infect others. It's like having the flu & sneezing on everyone's food in a restaurant, if you're sick you shouldn't even be in there. We all need to stop electing people who are religious. We must only elect those who are anti religious or non religious (non sick).

  • @griffynelvyncraft Religion is a disease, and it's evil. In my life, the

worst people that I've ever met were all avid church-goers ("people

of God"). I am an athiest, and proud of it. I love my fellow man, and

I am tolerant of others. And, for the record, some guy named Jesus

did NOT die for "my sins". Assuming that this guy ever even existed

(a HUGE assumption, by the way!), he lived thousands of years be-

fore I was born. Yet he died for "my sins", eh? Baloney!

  • @avaxtakaka ... I agree 100%

  • @avaxtakaka Religion was invented by man, and all these people were deceived and now parents of whatever religion teaches their child, that's why it is a never ending loop. We are in the 21st century, we can live regularly without religion since it is bunk. We are strong enough for individuals, people believe in a religion because they are desperate for help.

  • @bobchan111 Your analysis was cogent and intelligent, and I agree with

it fully. Religion is for the weak and the simple-minded. An educated

person needs religion like a fish needs a bicycle. This concept of "God"

    is a load of hooey.

  • why are they bitching about the sign that says "praise darwin" its obviously fucking satire

also there is one of those signs near my house haha

  • "Live a good life. If there are gods and they are just, then they will not care how devout you have been, but will welcome you based on the virtues you have lived by. If there are gods, but unjust, then you should not want to worship them. If there are no gods, then you will be gone, but will have lived a noble life that will live on in the memories of your loved ones. I am not afraid." - Marcus Aurelius

  • I don't see what's so great about heaven. Your afterlife choices are:

Spend forever praising a guy who did nothing but create and curse my ancestors

    Or

Go to a slightly worse place where you work for eternity

Really I see it as punishment or worse punishment.

  • @Skidonti Point well taken! In this so-called "heaven", we'd spend

all day, morning until nightfall, praising God. No thanks! Being an

athiest, I'd prefer to go to a place where I can watch ice hockey

all day long, and praise nobody (except Anna Kournikova).

  • For the mother on 1:53. Like Chandler sayed once: "No, no, you must say that proudly!"

  • Apparently, the bible thumpers don't believe in the first amendment...

  • I don't think "Praise Darwin" is a good way of going on about it, I mean it just gives a way to the silly argument that atheism itself is a religion with Darwin as a central figure (or the equally idiotic term "Darwinism"). I believe in evolution and I am an atheist, but I am no "Darwinist" just as I'm not a "Newtonist," or a "Einsteinist."

  • Religion and politics mix about as well as drinking and driving, to two simply do not go well together.

  • "evolve beyond belief"

    That's beautiful!

  • These Billboards are great! I love them!

  • Libertas sine monastica

  • Atheism for the win.

  • believe or not, no one has the right to say or coment ppls believes i ask are we better than 3 world crazy extremests i think not repecting is what we do to be respected we are better than this

  • I disagree. There are reasons for belief and disbelief. Not to mention, with all the religions out there, which one is right? Given what religion claims about life, it is something that shouldn't be pushed away. In many cases, respect=not talking about it.

And about extremists; yes, we are better than them. If you respect life, you are better than them. Atheists respect life a whole lot, because we realize it's all we have.

  • But i am christian, was all my life i dont really talk about my or other ppls believes or if im wrong or right. So who im i to comment any ones believes when i believe in something that is true to me, and may be fake! why should i have to see billboards that are against what i believe. The question is why do they post them are they looking for confortation. Exactly what extremists do they believe in something and cant exept diferent ways of living and thinking, in this case put up billboards.

  • "why should i have to see billboards that are against what i believe."

WHY are you unable to turn that question around and apply it to us atheists? You have any idea what its like for us to see YOUR god spam all over America, on every highway, interstate, street and church sign? Just who is the damn extremists here?

  • @PaineLover RIGHT ON!!!! Every day, we're bombarded by all types of

shit regarding "God", "Jesus", etc. To me, this is VERY OFFENSIVE! If

the Christians are offended by an athiestic billboard, tough shit! Go cry

    to Jesus about it!

  • One additional comment, please: I have NO quarrel with devout believers who understand / practice 'Non-Overlapping Magisteria' (in science, politics). The problem is that religious and mystical experiences are so emotionally transforming, believers cannot help but impose their theology on every aspect of human existence; therein lies the rub. So there will be conflicts and these silly sign-wars are merely one battle front. The bright side: rich comedic fodder.

  • The U.S. was founded [partly] on the concept of religious freedom (of/from) - manifested in the writings of the founders. An irony: this nation (based on state-church separation) is also one of the most hyper-religious. The faithful (ever under seige) scream about 'religious freedom' but another irony is that if they'd get their way we'd have none. That said, atheist orgs serve NO greater good by taunting the faithful with their callow marketing campaigns - they all need to get over themselves.

  • Show your kids the evidence for what they believe!

  • sad thing is our founding fathers wanted seperation from church and for america to not be held back by religon, but to be built on reason and logic and science...

i bet they are rolling in their graves right now

  • Bad idea on the darwin billboard.

I'd say ask some provocative questions on the bilboards. Like if there is a god, why so many religions? If there is a god, why suffering? Or some nasty bible verses.

  • Bob Dylan:

"Here's the thing with me and the religious thing. This is the flat-out truth: I find the religiosity and philosophy in the music. I don't find it anywhere else...I don't adhere to rabbis, preachers, evangelists, all of that. I've learned more from the songs than I've learned from any of this kind of entity. The songs are my lexicon. I believe the songs"

You've skewed another man's belief system to further your own senseless claims. Congratulations.

  • Did you see his recent interview about his new Christmas album? When asked, he said "I'm a true believer".

His gospel music helped me in my life. And he had said in anther place that he hoped his music has been healing.

    Love him!

  • Scientist Emanuel Swedenborg maintains the highest IQ record (per Stanford University) in both religion and science. Walt Whitman said Swedenborg would probably make the biggest mark on religion than any man that walked the earth...and he is. Helen Keller said she hopes she could be an instrument to bring Swedenborg to a world that is spiritually deaf and blind.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr said Swedenborg explains those Bible stories better than anyone.

  • Sweet! We need more of those billboards all over the place!

Of course it's always funny to hear reporters trying to piece together their wording about us. "...their non-beliefs..." lol

"...freedom of no religion..." lol again

  • Bad idea to have billboards to say "praise Darwin." That plays right into the fundies hand, since they think evolution is the religion of atheism.

  • That's exactly what I thought when I saw that. Darwin should be respected, not set up as an idol.

  • Yeah but I like how it also showcases our sense of humor a bit. Some folks say we're all bitter old people who are are too serious all the time.

  • I'm pretty sure the whole thing is tongue in cheek.

  • I think if America's religious right woke up to the fact that if they distort the Constitution to allow theistic views to influence law making, there will be absolutely no legal barrier that could put in the way of America adopting Sharia law.

The Constitution was designed to give no preference to ANY religion, so any religion would have equal rights to influence the legislative agenda.

Take a look at pre-invasion Afghanistan to see how a country that lets religion shape it's laws works out.

  • Damn, how do those apostrophes sneak into possessive "its"? They are ninja apostrophes, not other explanation.

  • awesome, keep up the good work, atheists! what we need is to put up bible quotes. the quickest way to create an atheist is to have them read the bible

  • I don't understand... What is the harm in allowing these billboards?

  • Your against their silly followers who want to, oh I dunno..discredit science, kill/condemn people, claim authority on morality, fuse their religion with government, start wars and genocides, condone slavery and supremacy, rip off people..the list is pretty long.

  • Good point.

As a practitioner of Norse Paganism, a religion predating Christianity by 1000's of years, I wonder why people get angry when I hold animal sacrifices, why they don't want me around their children after I inform them that bad kids get eaten by the serpent monster Niddhog after they die, or why the cops get called on me when I go door to door warning people about the coming Ragnarok.

Why do they resist my gods Odin, Thor, Frigg, and Freyja (among others) if they don't believe in them?

  • Nice to hear from a fellow Norse pagan

  • Are you saying you don't exist???

I'll take the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't mean to say it like that.

  • @TheLxrose Because what atheists are campaigning against here is the amount of control a theistic God has over people. Even though atheists don't believe in a God religion still seems to have an impact upon them, for example, through how a country is governed.

  • The invisible magic spaceman isn't the problem, it's the people who use this fictional character as a justification to mistreat people who believe in different invisible magic spacemen, or who don't do what the invisible magic spaceman says they should do.

  • For a fictional character the magic spaceman sure has a lot of power.

  • The only power is collective bargaining, applied by means of one set of believers trying to out-breed competing belief systems.

Any evidence for the application of divine power in geological events, or medical surprises is countered by their hideously arbitrary nature. If we're to believe randomly lucky survivors of disasters or illnesses have been saved by a magic spaceman, the many millions of people he chooses NOT to spare from horrifying deaths paint a chilling picture of callous disregard.

  • One of my favorite books is The Shack. It explains very well my feelings on God.

As far as lucky survivors, depends on how you look at it. As a believer I am looking forward death. It is a reward. So when the lord calls me home, however I may go, I don' t consider it callous diregard.

Another way to look at it is my daughter has been in near death accidents twice. Someone told her she must be destined for great things because the devil is trying to kill her. LOL

  • @MisterHughes That's what Epicurus said.

  • We're not fighting against "God"(something that isn't there).

It is the FOLLOWERS, the believers in this nonexistant god, who want to force their supersitions, bible laws, and whacko nonsense on EVERYONE , that we have to ever be on guard against. These folks are not happy that THEY have billions of christian billboards, churches, etc for THEIR beliefs.....nooooooooo, they scream "persecution" if atheists put up ONE here and there.

  • Christians aren't happy? Sounds like your not happy either.

I don't have a problem with the billboard. I believe in God therefore to me you are fighting against God. Which you claim doesn't exist.

  • "you are fighting against God. Which you claim doesn't exist. "

WRONG on both counts. How can you fight against something you don't even believe exist? You don't believe in Santa Claus, do you? The Tooth Fairy? Unicorns? Loch Ness? Other gods? NO? If you say to someone you don't belief in those things, and they say : "Lxrose, you're just fighting against them". What then?

  • "Sounds like your not happy either. "

Don't be so stupid. HOW is it that you can say "it sounds like" I'm unhappy? You know nothing about me, my life......nothing. Be honest now; you just ASSUME that an atheist can't possibly be happy without believing in your mythical Jebus, eh? For over 40 yrs I did. Life has greatly improved without religion

  • @PaineLover To me, religious people (especially Christians) are

BULLIES! I've often been told, "Look what Jesus has done for you!".

Huh? WHAT has this imaginary guy done "for" me? I'm indebted

to some guy who (supposedly) existed thousands of years ago?

    What bullshit!

  • where i live a couple years ago a small group of athiest tried to get the baby Jesus and Manger scene taken away from the big lighted Christmas tree downtown, people were in uproar. If they don't want religon brought on to them they need to keep their anti beliefs to themselves it works both ways !!!

and the Manger scene and the baby Jesus are still there

  • I love the statement at the end by the reporter. Freedom of speech takes on freedom of religion? What's that supposed to even mean? I don't understand how those two are even related in this article.

  • At 1:53 the lady is such a moron. She says that her kids beliefs wont be weakened by the billboards. Their not the kids beliefs their hers. The kids wouldn't believe in such bullshit if they hadn't been brainwashed with lies based on myths from some book. Get a life lady.

  • NEWSFLASH: Promotion of non-religion is not the same as antireligion. But who expects journalists to understand the complex labyrinth of "writing in english"

  • I wonder how the "other" religions feel about the dominance of the cross in that display at 2:09

  • Americans keep going on about feedom of speech and freedom of choice like it's a rare thing, but it really isn't these days for the majority of countries. It's also clear to from an outside perspective that religion has become far too tied up in government in the US - people should not be have to listen to their leader tell them they went to war because god told him to do it., it's like something from Iran. Obviously Britain isn't perfect either, we got involved in that pointless war too.

  • how about a sign in america saying believe in muhammad >> jesus is a fake >> i wonder how that would go down ??

  • A sign that says "Keep religion out of government" is not an anti religion sign. It's a keep religion out of government sign.

  • the masses' close-mined religious world-view box..is closing in on them..don't you feel logical thinking puttin' the squeeze on them?

  • It's time we stop all this damn respect for religion.

  • "no sign will shake them of their faith"

-exactly,thats the fuckin problem, the assholes wont listen to outside opinion regardless of how hard they try as people are being killed and others are alienated and relationships torn apart due to these bullshit dogmatic beliefs.

  • Yes ! It's working ! And it's growing !

  • 'If you raise your children to believe in something, then a sign won't change their faith'

That's right, indoctrinate hard, get em while their young! Stifle any questions with the old standard 'because I said so' or 'because god said so'

  • Religion just realized it, ironically, needs scientists (fake ones anyway) to defend it.

Now, when kids question it, they'll have a creation scientist talk at church who'll give mathematical responses and he'll tell you how all the other scientists are wrong, evil and shouldn't be listened to!" and just before he's whisked away to prison for tax fraud (See Kent Hovind), your kids will have their faith backed up by apparent "reason" and will keep their ears shut when you speak of Darwin, etc.

  • @happysplodie Religion = Brainwashing. I had religion shoved

down my throat as a child, and I hated every second of it. When I

became old enough, I stood-up and said, "No more!". When I

became an athiest, I felt as if I'd been let out of prison. My life

    skyrocketed almost immediately thereafter.

  • @happysplodie every good parent will do everything in their power, by example and by word, to teach and prepare their children for life as an adult..yet even the best of parents, who have been excellent at doing exactly this, can ever guarantee that their child will turn out the way they hope..history is full of those who turned out completely in stark contrast to their upbringing..

  • @happysplodie even with the worst of parents, there have been, as there will continue to be, those children, who despite their upbringing will prove to be upstanding citizens in their community and to the world. i do hope you indoctrinate your children with wisdom, truth, compassion, good manners and a hard working spirit, even when the only answer you have to give them is: because i said so, and even if, despite your own beliefs, because God said so.

  • @HermitintheRain I will never tell anyone, because god said so. I will resort to any number of real explanations before that becomes the case. Because it's the right thing, because it's what you would want done to you. Because it's for the greater good. Because even though it hurts, you know it's right. If I'm ever in a position where I need to say 'god' I haven't done a very good job.

  • "no sign will shake their faith".

nice! St.Thomas was the naughty boy because he wanted to see, and Catholics are the good boys/girls because they don't even want to believe in what they see.

    excellent way of life folks!

  • I'm so lucky to be alive in a time where we can do this without being raped and murdered by the religious.*

*Of course, I'm talking about the US. ^_^

  • The US is not the only country where you can do this...

  • My comment was not exclusive to the US. I was making direct reference to where I live, not anyone else.

You have exploded the scope of my comment in an attempt to invalidate what I have said. You need to relax. ^_^

  • How am I invalidating your comment by just stating a known fact?

Look who needs to relax ^_^

  • The sign to keep religion out of government isn't anti-religious. Thats something for both believers and non-believers. It looks like that news team was portraying it like it was for non-believers.

  • don't really like the 'Praise Darwin' sign.

  • I totally agree with you.

  • Me neither, I believe in evolution and thank Darwin for his contributions, but raising him to a god status would just be contradictory.

  • They aren't raising him to a godly level, just praising his works, in my opinion. Just because the word praise is used doesn't necessarily imply religious worship towards the person or being in question.

  • Even so we can trend dangerous waters when it comes to this which is why I said trying to make Darwin look as if he was atheism's god could potentially be dangerous.

  • *sigh*

I think a better wording would have been "Thanks Darwin". 'Praise' carries too much baggage. ^^

  • That would have been much better, "Praising" was added for the sake of controversy, everyone knows that.

  • I don't really like the "Praise Darwin" billboard. Religious people already think atheism is a religion. Make jokes like "Darwin is your god and Dawkins is his prophet!" And I don't think we should "praise" anyone really. People are already misinformed and confused and we don't need to be confusing them even more.

Other than that, it was a decently done story and I like the other billboards.

  • love this, i see religious billboards all over the place and i don't complain.

  • Awesome!

  • I think the woman in the video at the end meant "if you brainwash your kids strong enough and let them know you'll disown them if they form their own beliefs then other people telling them it's ok not to have faith in a supernatural realm won't change their minds."

  • Laugh I was going to say something similar... really made me laugh. If you "indoctrinate" them early enough they will never question there invisible sky daddy! :)

  • She looked like a Baptist, too.

  • Good to see the tide turning against the horrible, horrible mistake of religion. It is mankind's worst attribute.

  • I Wish these billboards would come in my area

    I live in TX

  • Good luck with that .. they would probably try to execute you for doing such a thing.

Same for me I live in the heart of appalcha. One of those areas where people cling to there "guns and religion".

I would almost fear for my life if i spoke out about atheism where I live...

  • I'm Atheist....and I cling to my guns!!!

    Love'em!

  • religion did 9/11 i saw it with my own eye

  • eyes*
