Robert Redford does love the west....... just because he has a different belief system than yours is no reason to think that he doesn't love freedom, isn't honest, or question is personal accountability. I think that you may just need to grow up and accept others for who they are... in other words, mind your own business... and keep your nose out of his. On that note, have a nice day. :)
As I was watching this movie I was thinking that bears hibernated during the winter months. I assumed all bears hibernated. According to wikipedia, in some areas where food is plentiful year round, grizzly bears skip hibernation altogether.
What a wonder Jeremiah didn't freeze, or starve, to death that first winter. For no more than he's wearing he must have had on some very effective long underwear. I live in the U.P. Cold is cold.
@odst444666 At this time (probably the late 1830's) they would be using percussion cap firearms, still single shot and muzzleloading. Some have said that JJ carries a revolver... nope. He's armed with a .50 Harper's Ferry or US Army issue single shot pistol.
It could go either way, though a flintlock is more self contained and so a better choice. You can keep your powder dry all you want, but if you have a caplock and loose your tin of them up in those mountains, your out of luck in a bad way... Also, the revolver bit comes from the book "Crow Killer" you should check that out. If you like the movie, the book has 10X more adventure in it that never made it to the script
Just like to say thanks for putting all the parts of this film together and making it easy to watch. It is an excellent film and you are to be commended for your thughtful actions.
@GradyBaby13 i have never succeded with bow drill fire method but i have with a flint and steel like robert redford is doing in the movie and its quite uplifting
Just asking, do what you want, I'm gonna just curl up under a warm blanket. However, I did have a dream last night about a tree that was in my yard. The tree feld down in my neighbors yard. I tried to pull the tree back into my yard, and the tree was all rotted inside. There were a whole lot of those bugs that curl into a little ball. I almost got sick in my dreams. Point being: "You can have the Great Outdoors, I love concrete and steel"
@chrissept21 I'll say it is. My friend gave me a flint and steel and I practically danced when I started my wood stove with it. :) My dad can work a bow drill, but I haven't succeeded at it yet either.
In the book, he said "Fer ten year I packed me a squaw, a Cheyenne she war, and the meanest bitch ever bawled for beads. I lodgepoled her up on Dead Wolf Crick and traded her fer a Hawken gun."
You know what really strange, that could be one of those no trespassing signs or the like, just at the moment the man says "That be far enough pilgrim". What would the odds be?
Been there done that!! I messed my credit up so bad wont anyone loan me any money. Ohh well, now when I buy something its mine and I dont owe anyone anything for it.
Credit is a form of slavery in my humble opinion. They allow you to charge more than your worth and then you spend the rest of your life trying to pay them off. I'd rather be broke and actually own what I have ; )

Too bad Robert Redford is such a raging liberal and hates all facets of the true western lifestyle of freedome, personal accountability and honest!
IruleOverProgressive 1 year ago 6
@IruleOverProgressive You seriously spelled freedom with an E at the end? Redford works to protect the environment and lives in the West.
Snackay 3 months ago
@IruleOverProgressive
Yeah for all the shows he's starred in that are western, and the values those movies typically promote... I mean... what the fuck.
