  • I have enjoyed your videos and learned some good tips. To bad you guys can't run dredges.

  • I love being Canadian.

  • do you check before with a metal detector

  • nice jewelers lot there. looks like 90% or better.

  • How does one get into this field? I'm 19 in college and more than ready to get started.

  • @MrRenaissance55 Good day.......well to get started - look up on the Internet your area.....lot's of gold forums and information........ounce you find area's closest to you then start with a pan and see if you like it......then when the fever is set in you can move up to better equipment and claims.......lot's of clubs out there as well....you may want to start there as well........pick up tips and get on to the gold.

    Take care.

  • @hixonAu Alright I'll do that and thanks for the quick reply. I live about an hour south of Dahlonega, GA so I'm in the right area :D Now I just need a pan and place to look.

  • @MrRenaissance55 you live in a great gold belt, i found many a nice nugs in the loud mine.

  • Is this in BC Canada or Australia?

  • @pkrska The great white north......B.C. Canada :)

  • cool vid good job !!

  • Is this from a claim? Did you stake a claim there or just showed up and starting panning?

  • @pkrska From my claims.......some areas are open to prospect but for the

most part - ground is open because it's only worth panning on.

    Take care.

  • The Caribou Gold Rush <3

  • 5500 feet...in elevation? Where exactly is it?

  • hay, I found a creek 5500 feet up in Washington, good spots with corse gold. I also have chipped off some nice looking quarts rocks that looks to me, to be gold. Small buches in the rock mixed in with these black lines and some rust? Got a good picture of it. I just don't know for sure. If it is, I know were I could break off more for testing. The creek I've been in has the corse stuff sitten right on top mostly. But i really need a dredge!

  • the little golds looks like glitter lol

  • is the place public?

  • It strikes me that nobody in the field of gold prospecting seems to be a decent camera man (or woman).

  • @linuxrules04 there better at finding gold...lol

  • Don't suppose you'd tell us which creeks you tried? ;)

  • what it is litle red in your gold ?

  • @MultiSodium

I am sure that is a garnet, but could be wrong, now if he was in Georgia or South Carolina I might say it could be a ruby, but no he is in B.C. Canada.

  • I LOVE your accent, the way you say Cariboo so reminds me of my Uncle who lives on the Sunshine Coast. :o)

    Awesome video again D

    Jen

  • Id keep gold.

  • Man that's what life is all about. If I could do this I think I would just have the biggest smile on my face all day. Do you keep an eye open for gemstones? Hats off to you man and good luck. Live the life.

  • Lol lucky you

  • Did you sell them, how much for?

  • Well.... : )

  • @hixonAu Hey, what are the names of the creeks that you did the sampling on? I need to know, so I can get my dredge and get the real mother lode before you get your dredge!! Hey, it's a dog eat dog world out there!! I did give your video a thumbs up, cuz you have a good video. Now, what's the name of them creeks?

  • California here. You said 2 or 3 times, "a lot of work". You're hand panning/sampling? A lot of work is an understatement! Good work buddy. Hope you get your dredge soon. Nice color and a scientific mind behind it.

  • Hard work all right....I do hand samples across large area's looking for the old channels/benches and pockets.....Lot's of work but can pay off an will in time....LOL

  • all i see is blur

  • But can you hear me :)

  • how much is that all worth? im gunna start. gunna go buy a pan this weekend and start. but i mean all the little gold flakes r they worth keeping?

  • is that a garnet in your pan? is one that size worth very much or not?

  • Yes it's A garnet but not worth A hell of a-lot :(

  • @hixonAu Lol it only worth to someone who finds it i would Make something with it

  • Good looking gold.....Your very close to the source.....you need to do some cross section testing to lead you to the exposed vein....You need to be using our box for your accurate cross sections.

  • i love your tech. talk helps me understand what to look for and possiblly where. . thanks

  • Beautiful pan of gold. What an area!

  • Good to See that course gold Hixon Au

I'm a on and off Cariboo miner myself. Right now I'm putting together a trommel I will feed with a 120. I started 15 years ago with a gold pan and now I'm back at it again lol I love to see people who are in the field making a buck and keeping the spirit alive. Good on yah!

    Chris

  • Great pan there HixonAu - Lot's of hard work as well, I don't qiute have that much panning here in N.S. but have some nice pickers. Need a partner ? lol. Im ready willing and able but B.C. is a long hike from here.

Thanks for tape seen your newest video looks like you may have hit the spot with the dredge. HGH

  • N.S......yeah that's A hike and A half.....LOL

  • Man, that's a pan of gold! Hand panning all that is GREAT! Your in a super area!

  • hay hixonAu ware can i find prospecting equipment in BC i am from the Island but in Alberta right now. i have a pan and a small military shovel but down the line i would like to buy a dredge.

  • there's enough gold there to buy a dredge.

that's an amazing amount of gold from just panning.

buy that dredge, and keep posting.

    very cool.

  • Most gold area's do have A lot in common for sure......keep up the hunt......smoothed out flakes - sounds like around 10 miles plus away from the source.

  • Hey Darcy,

Yep, that is the same looking silver looking stuff in the quarts I was asking about... In fact Ive seen all those quarts where I'm prospecting.... I'm seeing lots of flake but no nuggets...

    Mike

  • thats nice how long did you work for that pan?

  • Holy smokes, yeah, you need to set up a highbanker somewhere, at least.

  • NICE JOB

  • Hey...man...glad ya enjoyed the videos....Hhmmm....pan worth....something like 1000.00 plus.

  • wow, good job. That was a days worth of gold? is that a ruby in there too?

  • Hey Hixon, love your vids! I'm looking to get started again in gold panning, i plan on building a home made sluice this spring, just out of curiosity, How much would you guesstimate that gold is worth u have in your pan?

  • Ya the golds are coarse an I'll do what I can about promoting mining in B.C.

  • Thats a very coarse grade of Fine gold. Thats 2-3 ounces or so there. Nice work. Im sure you have a good creek. Keep placer mining alive in BC!

  • How many oz in that pan?

    Great work!

  • LOL...no just gold..lol
