If I was import drag racing, I'd use a British or European car from between 1946-1980. Something like a Rover P6, Triumph Herald, Citroen Traction Avant, Hillman Imp, Hillman Minx, Borgward Isabella, Tatra T603, Volvo PV544, Triumph 2000, Facel Vega Facellia, MG Magnette (saloon), Austin Cambridge, Volvo Amazon, Mk1 or 2 Cortina, Ponton or Fintail Mercedes, Rover P4 or Austin A40 Devon (Traditional hot rod fodder). Look beyond the Japanese stuff and all possibilities will open.

@ParasiteFromTheHills C-clip eliminators prevent the axle from coming out when you break one. they don't prevent you from shearing off all of the lug nuts. I didn't see any evidence of axle parts or lugnuts/etc on that wheel, so it looks like the lugnuts were sheared.

My point was that sometimes all the skill in the world can't prepare you for a slick track or car problems or whatever. I've seen plenty of cars dive for the wall and the driver couldn't do anything about it. Prep, skill, seat time, etc can't always save you from bad luck.
