  • theres a "note" that welshmen sing thats hits you right in the gut,, wow thanks

  • This is the best rendition of this hymn I've found so far

  • i was Born in Gelli Not far from Treochy and i knew some of the choir singers many years ago and they are all Part time choir singers very good they are too.

  • thumbs up if you liked this Treorchy Male Choir & Sir Harry Secombe singing Cwm Rhondda

  • An incredibly talented and inspirational Gentleman, and a pleasure to listen to him singing withh his "Countrymen" One of thw World's greatest Tenor's, God Bless you .

  • Good old Harry..What a great performer.

  • Makes me cry. Sir Harry makes it look so easy; just walks in and out comes this glorious voice singing a glorious hymn.

  • In her diary written in 1860, Keturah Davies, as she sails from Southampton to Adelaide on board the Schah Jehan, mentions that she and her fellow passengers, mostly from Wales sang the hymn "Guide Me O Thou Great Jehovah", not "Redeemer" at the closing of the day. Just Google "The Diary of Keturah Davies" It is a fascinating and moving account.

  • Marvellous voices!

  • There is something wonderful about Welsh male choirs. This is very moving.

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • Good Old Sir Harry! He sang "Guide me O thou great JEHOVAH, not "redeemer".

Time someone showed respect for the Divine Name.

  • @chopanddilly1 Redeemer was chosen because some people had too much respect for the name Jehovah to speak it. But I prefer the proper version too, especially the way he sang it.

  • so is the treorchy male voice choir made up of ordinary working men in and around treorci (like i really want to believe) or are they all trained full-time professionals brought in from all over the place?

  • @Kinlochbervie50 Many thanks for all your comments. Yes indeed, the Choir is made up entirely of ordinary working men - ranging from former miners to teachers, undertakers to bricklayers. There are NO professional singers in the Treorchy Male Choir. 90% are still living in Treorchy and its few surrounding villages. They sing for the sheer love of it and the enjoyment it brings others. For further details visit the choir website

  • @TreorchyDeano Sir, how do I join?!

  • @mpc999STEP Please visit the Choir website for details on rehearsals etc. Regards DP

  • @Kinlochbervie50 Ordinary men. My grandfather sings in Treorchy male voice choir. Class!

  • @Kinlochbervie50 the welsh are famous for their male choirs , legendary...

  • Wish I could sing like this. I feel so unWelsh!

  • if ur welsh u can its in your blood

  • @offitcock Perhaps you're right, I sang a certain song and recorded it, showed it to my girlfriend and she was blown away. Told another friend about it who said it's a really hard song to sing and even a trainer singer he knows couldn't do it, but I nailed it. Perhaps you're right... :) (uploaded the recording to youtube but took it down coz it's terrible quality and I still think I suck lol)

  • ALWAYS THOUGHT OF SIR HARRY AS A GOON.FORGOT HOW GREAT A VOICE HE HAD

  • Lovely!

  • home

cant wait to be back :-)
