  • thanks for saving me a trip

  • No matter there is currently water in it, or not, this thing is scary both ways! A big stupid scary hole. I know it's just a part of that dam, but it's so scary! @_@

  • Lucky you had a handheld rock. You probably couldn't do the same thing with like, a mounted rock or a rock on a tripod.

  • handheld rock?

  • Song?

  • Thanks for posting this! I've seen several videos of it and had no idea that it was man made!

  • this is not what i wanted when i ttyped in glory hole D:

  • @TotalWar5598 oooohhhh, wowwowowow lol

  • how does a glory hole form? and can you die from it?

  • @zulu9741 It's a man-made structure. I'm sure it would be unfortunate if you fell in, but with the water levels so low I don't think that is a current risk.

  • @DaltonSR20DET how is it man made? i saw some on the oceans .aha so you would survive if you fell ? were do you come out from?

  • @zulu9741 It would depend largely on whether the dam is a hydroelectric one used to generate power by way of rushing water. Those employ very large turbines that are driven at high speeds by the water to generate electricity. Suffice to say the intake channel of one of those should be avoided, imagine something akin to a powerful blender.

  • glory hole spillway or bell valve it design for over flow..

  • sooo sorry about this but i still don't quite understand :( where exactly does the hole lead to?! could someone survive being flushed down if they had an air mask on? how would they dive back up? where would they come out?!

  • @nickhansbauer This Glory Hole is part of the Monitcello Dam at Lake Berryessa. When the water actually spills into the hole it is then routed down and out the base of the damn into a river on the other side. The river flows through the Putah Creek State Wildlife Area.

  • @DaltonSR20DET cool thanks for the extra info!

  • @DaltonSR20DET lol you spelled dam ad damn in your comment to nickhansbauer

  • @DaltonSR20DET Song?

  • Taken straight from Wiki,

The dam is noted for its classic, uncontrolled spillway with a rate of 48,400 cubic feet per second (1370 m³/s) and a diameter at the lip of 72 ft (22 m). The spillway is also known as 'The Glory Hole'.

  • how big in diameter is this?

  • holy shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We've been having severe drought conditions since 2006 hence the date at the end of the vid.

  • global warming = lower water
