My 4 cylinder Honda gets great fuel economy, has ample cargo and passenger space, requires hardly any maintenance and has very reasonable performance for regular roads. It's also inexpensive and uses commonly available 91 octane fuel.

Gumperts and Radicals are LeMans cars with license plates. Clear it up,I have modified Porshe Gt(600hp),in Swiss were i live.
In Australia(Home) i have a 9second Holden/Chev.
My porshe eats the my drag car in the corners,but the ulimate quick rush i my Torana give me this.
Check out the SSC as another person pointed out from USA.fastest production car now built.
As for OZ,No super cars,but the Holden Commdore is a fast/Cheap "family car" that is a top all rounder.POINT,Dont use a Ducati for MX.

Every car is built for its purpose,,USA have dominated the 1/mile and exceleration.
Erope have dominated sports cars,until recently,as another person pointed out the SSC faster and cheapest sports car.
My point is,you build acar for what u wont it for,i have never heard of a sports car doing 7 sec quarters or a 7sec car lappen tracks.Its like comparing a dune buggy for drift racing.
Holden (Auatralian) is has no sport cars but the holden commodore is a extremly fast family car.

What about the caterham super 7 or the ariel atom - both sub 3 second 0-60mph cars and both under £40,000? faster and cheaper than your yank corvette. Plus you can't compare the corvette to most of those euro cars because it shares its interior with half the £10,000 from GM! It uses leaf spring suspension! and it is terrible quality!

lol, a vauxhal nova can do 11's dick weed, why wouldnt it run 11's? It has around 200hp. Euro cars trash yank cars round the track. We have the most ultimate motor sport in the world - formula one. Indy cars and champ cars aren't even close to their acceleration, cornering and stopping abilities. And yes, i have been to a track, but not with my car. I would be seeing your tailights - when i lap you! You probably don't even own a car!

I have been talking about an 11 as in a large rubber 11 shape layed down on the road surface, you have been speaking of a 11 second 1/4 mile time. 1/4 time have no meaning in the real world and in reality my mercedes can corner faster and is a better car then any american car in its price range + its built to last.

I am not say i can do an 11 second quarter mile - i never have. It would beat many american cars around a track though. American cars just arent setup very well - softly sprung and floppy heavy rolly bodies. The only good thing in america is that you seem to be able to get insured on very big cars for a reasonable price - unless your not really 17?

I race my Holden(683rwhp,Naturally aspirated 400chev)every summer at Perth complex.
My best time is 9.2 @ 257km .The porsche (no quarters),but i presume 10.8-11.5 now with 437rwhp .
Any car that has the engine mid or rear mounted will always handle better(more balance),Hey,i love vettes,i was tempted to send my Nelson engine here and stuff it in vette(4link rear) to eat euro cars.

benatbenland- get your fact straight first. Corvettes have not used traditional leaf springs since 1982. And even then, it was in the rear only, a`transverse leaf, independant set up, not unlike the Jags of the same era. 1962 was the last year for the solid axle 'vettes, and by the way, they were kicking ass in LeMans and other road courses then too! Oh, and have fun using the cat7 or atom as an everyday car, like you can with any corvette.

And lemans 24 hasn't been won by an american car since 1969 - and that was a ford, not a vette! The vettes have never been able to keep up with aston martins - which are made just down the road from where i live! The only thing they have won is the american lemans champiionship - no great achievement! You stick to straight lines and let us do the corners - you are clearly incapable!

You really need to read first - new vettes pull down 26MPG on te highways now.... Filling mine up is not a problem for me - thanks for worrying though. Good luck with trying to keep up with a vette in an Aston. Straights, corners or wherever. And yes, I was referring to the '60s, which was when last GB had anything worth racing.

Considering that is almost twice your precious Aston's milage, you should notice. Plus the Vette is less than half the cost of an Aston, and has as much power, and an awesome suspension. (Have you seen the Top Gear test of the Vette?) So the Vette will kick ass on the track and, look good while doing it. Enjoy your Astons interior, it may be nice, but I thought we were talking balls out performance cars. I don't know what a matiz is - they don't sell them here..

Not just the straights. Current production car record at Nurburgring is held by a production Dodge Viper ACR. The car it took the record from was the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. They were faster than any Ferrari, Lambo, Aston, Zonda, or TVR out there...and cost less than half of the cars they kick the guts out of.

While both of those vehicles compete in the "production" class, they are not what I would consider production vehicles. Gumpert has built 40 cars total since they opened. Gumperts and Radicals are LeMans cars with license plates. Zr1 and Viper ACRs are actual cars with things like air conditioning and warranties...cars where you don't need to be The Stig to drive them. Cars where could toss the keys to your grandmother and she comfortably drive it to the parts store *and* they'd have parts

quick comment on the side, to qualify as a road car for lots of competitions you need to sell 100 of that model car, Ferrari cheats at that HEAPS and just sells half chassis etc, but the fastest time EVER for a road car ( well what can be considered a road car) is the dodge viper, some sporty edition or something, anyway the reason why gumpert that won on the top gear track didn't take it was because it has too much down force, tg track was designed by lotus what do you expect, its in favor.

The saleen s7 TT costing £300,000 is slower 0-60 than the caterham seven at £40,000. saleen are also in serious financial trouble at the moment. The challenger wouldnt touch it either. I forgot to add the aerial atom, bugatti veyron (officially the fastest road car in the world), maclaren f1 and the KTM crossbow. The euro cars are much more high tech and faster and more economical too!

the zr1 is slower than many many euro cars - it tops out at 205mph and has a terrible interior! Yanks generally have no idea of style and quality when it comes to interiors - you should look at lamborghinis and astons and ferraris - they know what there doing! They use all this amazing new stuff like leather and wood and aluminium and alcantara! the zr1 would die if it raced a mclaren F1 even though the mclaren is getting on for 17 years old!
