i used my moisturizer with sunscreen on my eyes and they got swollen and red. it looked like i got punched in the face when i woke up the next morning and i read the label and it said avoid contact with eyes, so be careful if you're going to try this
@earlydawn81 - She probably offers eye treatment products in her product line since certain people may still feel as though they *need* an eye cream, and she doesn't want to lose business, know what I mean. I love Paula and all of her advice :) I haven't tried her products though since I don't purchase from online.
@Jannsmith All of those products are also her facial moisturizers and serums, they serve double duty. That's Paula's point, you don't need a special "eye" product. A well formulated product works regardless of where on your face it is.
@lol365 - I realize that but wanted to point out for anyone who prefers using treatment for the eyes that it is an option. I personally do not believe that anyone should put a product near the eye since irritation or even blindness may result.
Most eye creams are ophthalmologically tested and the same exact anti-aging ingredients Paula recommends CAN cause blindness if not made gentle enough for the eyes. I agree you can use regular moisturizers for hydrating your eyes but as far as treatment goes, you do need something specially formulated for the eyes. Despite her intelligence, I really hate Paula's absolutist statements.
If you want to guess someone's age, take a look under their eyes, and around them. That's where the damage begins. That is where you can readily observe fine lines and wrinkles. The eye area is in fact more delicate than the rest of the facial skin; however, you don't need expensive brand name eye creams to fight wrinkles. Keep away from the sun's damaging rays, wear sun glasses, drink plenty of water, don't smoke, don't drink. Use anti-oxidants inside and out.
@lol365 so then don't put on an eye cream and see how bad your skin under your eyes is when you are older. It's not my problem, it's your skin. Personally I like looking good and always invest in skin care. And I look wayyyyy better than Paula. :)
I did like you said, quit buying eyecreams and used my face cream and..guess what..you are soo very wrong!!!!!!!!! My eyes got so irritatted ,wattery..BECOUSE face creams are richer then eye cream d'ohh!!!!! I should not put trust in someone who try to promote her personal products.
okay, so basically shes promoting fakeness b/c i heard her say something like save your money and wait till your so ugly ur eyes will need plastic surgery. -_-"
She doesn't manufacture her own eye cream, which is why she is saying this. The fact REMAINS that the skin under the eyes IS more delicate than on the rest of the body, and if you don't use one, you will look like Paula!
OK, don't use an eye cream, but use a SERUM if you are looking to get rid of dark under eye circles.
OR, skip it, and get one of those expensive facelifts (that absolutely excruciate in pain) ....then report back.
Guys like Dr Brandt and Dr Perricone sell absurdly priced skincare. And let's not forget, they're both dermatologists, no cream is putting them out of business.
It all comes down to money, Paula doesn't make money by not selling an eye cream. Brandt and Perricone sell eye creams and make money from them. Who has the greater motivation to endorse or trash an eye cream? Clearly, it isn't Paula Begoun (who looks great for 56!)
I would like to use a regular moisturizer with SPF in my under-eye area, but the (chemical) sunscreen in it stings my eyes. Which active/sunscreen ingredients do not sting your eyes? Thanks!
wow i should really tell my friends mom to stop buying eye creams.. she spends like 200 at counters trying to find the answer to youthful skin. But i knew it was a scam lol .. i work for a store and i learned that alot of businesses that sell really expensive things are a scam lol
Wow, you have no idea how much this helped me. I wasted $47 on eye cream from Clinique with the belief that my eyes needing something richer since it has more sensitive skin. Wish I could return it now actually.
I'm always amazed by comments that show people aren't listening to, and just don't want to face, the simple facts. If you can't recognise the truth when you hear it, that says a lot about your mental and emotional heath - or lack of it! Go on telling the truth Paula - you've saved me a lot of wasted money and given me the best skin of my life!
i dont use eyecream and i have used products on my face- those products dont work to get rid of dark circles- i am thinking of using body shops vitamin eye cream because on sale it is like $1 dollar here. I am gonna try it because my friend did and she has no dark circles anymore
Ive bought all sorts of eye creams, some pretty expensive ones too.
I now use plain oilatum (eczema) cream, this works better for me than the clinique, loreal, olay and garnier eye creams! Its pretty rich but its helped the dry skin on my lid and as it hydrates its helping with the dark circles too.
I will find something in gel consistency for use in the daytime..
Have you SEEN some of the things their sneaking into Neutrogena stuff??? The ingredient of concern is triethanolamine (TEA) which has the potential to turn into an extremely potent carcinogen called nitrosodiethanolamine (NDEA). Even more concerning, NDEA is easily absorbed through skin. There is no way of knowing if the concentration of TEA in this product is high enough to be of concerns. I must agree w/ the fact these cosmetic/pharm co's are really SNEAKY! PLEASE PEOPLE READ INGREDIENTS!
IE, I use a RX Vitamin A on my face and use an eye cream containing Vitamin K and a MILD retinol under my eyes. Everyone's skin is different and quite a few of my clients need different treatments on different areas of the face.
Actually, the skin is made of about 72% water. If your skin is DRY then yes, you do NOT want to soak it in water. DEHYDRATED skin on the other hand, requires ALOT of water. Actually there are a few eye creams developed just for the eye area that target certain problems that maybe a particular person's face moisturizer can not treat.
I agreed with what you said about eye creams, I'm 22 years old and thinking that I need one, well now I'm thinking maybe I don't!
However, do you have any advice to help with dark under eye circles? Mine isn't severe at all, but sometimes I get annoying dark circles underneath my eyes and I want them to go away instead of just covering it up with concealer.
amazing!
