  • poor horses

  • Violence aside, the girl at 00:17 is quite pretty. Just sayin...

  • I bet peter knew if Faramir would have defended the city they wouldn't have needed the riders nor the traitor army xD

  • This is the city of the men of Númenor. I'm glad to give my life to defend it's beauty.

  • 0:13 Thought it was Natalie Portman for a second. A very striking girl.

  • This scene is why I decided to study film.

  • The shot of Denethor eating right after the riders get pierced by arrows was just genius on behalf of Peter Jackson

  • Faramir! Your father's will has turned to madness?

    Madness?!? THIS IS GONDOR!!!

  • definitely the "Most Saddest" scene.

I cant believe this even happened. Gandalf could have stopped it somehow

  • The most sadest scene in lord of the rings...

  • To all budding supervillains - Choosing between a loved one and a bus full of children = sadistic choice. Making someone choose between giving EITHER Pippin OR Faramir a hug in this scene = EVIL.

  • 0:19 way to hide behind your girlfriend, hero.

  • @NYanarchy08 Hahahahahahahaha.

  • @NYanarchy08 He is not hiding behind his girlfriend he just standing behind her and his looking away in despair such as she is knowning that the men that are marching will not survive they dont dare to look at them.

  • @ImperialGuard9001 Yeah well if he's so torn up about it, maybe he should go get his own sword and lend a hand.

  • @NYanarchy08 What hand? This attack is suicidal. There is no sword or military genius that could turn that into a victory. Is just one other case of Denethor madness even to his own son.

  • 3:32

Orcs are like "Fuck this shit. I'm gonna CHEAT!"

  • @Sahluful Amusing comment, seems like all archers and not-so-headless tacticians are cheaters in the world of "Sahluful" <3

  • in the book faramir gets poisoned by the black breath of the black riders.not shot with arrows..but i think it still fits the movie

  • ye Stewards of Gondor hath not table manners.

  • @Wanderend ::D

  • @mathewleemeixner On a hopeless doomed charge to retake Osgiliath (the city earlier in the film that had been overrun).

  • This entire song (includes beginning instruments) is called the Steward of Gondor. Faramir is riding to Osgiliath because his father, Denethor, finds him useless (as he's been driven mad by the loss of his firstborn, Boromir) and basically sends his only son to bring him honor, something like that, since Faramir retreated from Osgiliath when it was being overrun in the first place (he also let Frodo go against his father's wishes, who desired the ring).

  • They are riding to Osgilith. (sorry I don't know if I spelled it right)

  • @mathewleemeixner to take back osgiliath

  • why did they have to make sacrifice?

  • It's strange that Boromir dies with 3 arrows while Faramir survives with 2 while they doesn't help him,he should die to...

  • Lol the actor who played Faramir was also the one eyed spartan in 300 who survived and told the tale of thier glory. Too bad there weren't spartans in the lord of the rings... the orcs would have gotten pwned! xD

  • I need a vid that shows the wizard sitting in the courtyard after the song's over

  • denethor is such a sociopath

  • This scene leaves me in awe. Especially when Pippin sings. I just jkfjksdjfdskfjds I love it <3

  • bad that boromir died

  • you know instead of riding off to your death you could have just rode off and joined the approaching army of rohan then you`ll at least have a fighting chance. thats what i would have done...screw that suicidal lunatic denethor.

  • truly a very memorable yet sad moment in the lotr trilogy.

Thanks a lot for posting it

  • This scene is so cheeling it just makes goose bumps especealy the area when Soldiers and Faramir are leaving people know they are going to certain death but love and respect them and pay homanage to their procters is so sad that the soldiers made such great oaths of sacrificies to died for their people alas Civilization has gone such downhill from this trully this migh be a work of fantasy and fiction but coulnt be more accurate in human emotions and feelings

  • @ImperialGuard9001 Tolkien designed it as a mythology for England, not a story. that's why it's so amazing.

  • farimir was a good soldier he never left osgiliath

  • This made me hungry.

  • 1:58 horse is all like IM NOT DYING !!!

  • Such expression on Faramir's face at 1:22...I loved how you hear Gandalf's voice in the back ground

  • 1:22-1:39 The music in this scene just fits the mood so perfectly!

  • "Your father loves you, Faramir. He will remember it before the end." Heartbreaking.

  • @johnnydontcry57

That little part of the movie brings tears to my eyes every time when I see it. :'(

  • love is song and LotR is a great movie series, they really stayed true to the books and picked great actors for the characters!

  • MY LORD IS RIDING,MY LORD IS RIDING :)

  • Man, that is sad!

  • 2:12 The rock in the middle of the city looks like a face.

  • best moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 0:40 Are these hobbit children I see before me?

  • 2:10 is epic!!!

  • do u know death when u see it

  • Seeing the horses and men blindly charging towards their death, swords ablaze, and hooves thundering evokes an incredibly sorrowful feeling. Without a doubt one of the best scenes in movie history.

  • 0:10 - a lady seems to be smiling :|

  • What´s the song called in the beginning when the riders rode through the city?

I loved the flute song in the beginning between 0:00 until 1:21.

  • is this song not on the soundtrack? I cant find it with pippin's song

  • @ericshw171 It's called The Steward of Gondor

  • @ericshw171 it's on the complete recording soundtrack, its track name is "the sacrifice of faramir"

  • is this song not on the soundtrack? I cant find it with pippin's song

  • As the blinding light unfolds,

    Into the darkness they rode,

Soldiers and Horses, into skeleton and carcuss,

The last hope is destroyed by arrow and darkness...

  • This took away what little hope they had left... Long live King Elessar!

  • Damn!... Denethor eats like a pig!

  • @AMNlinkinparkfan115 I know, I always found it rather repugnant. I think it's because he had gone beyond all caring about anything.

  • Man,this part was very good in the Blue Ray movie. This part also almost made my GF cry.... LOTR is and will always be the best Fantasy Epic.

God bless JRR Tolkein and Peter Jackson for making this story and movie.

  • i remember seeing this on the big screen...epic

    thanks man!

  • Great!

  • I think you're wrong.

Faramir tried to make his father see that too, just watch the vid as he rides out to what probably will be his death.

Boromir tried by words, if Faramir would try by words he would be somewhat.. selfproclaimed?

It's a situational matter; Faramir could not possibly act like Boromir and get the same outcome, neither could Boromir act like Faramir and get the same outcome, maybe just make things worse.

Not very objective like you make it sound

  • personally this is 1 of the best songs of lotr

  • My brother always told me that the Gondorian soldier's helmet looks like a acorn lol.

  • This song was so moving; and this scene practically broke my heart.

  • @mtvmsc Agreed. When I first saw this scene, I just cried my eyes out. :*( So tragic.

  • @ Songbird117: Boromir.

    Great scene.

  • it's a sad song

the best moment of the film agree with u

    faramir is cute

  • @djasamvlakdada Oh come on!!!! You think this is the best moment because Faramir is cute?!?!?!?! Holly crap this is a gay opinion! Get a criterion!!

  • faramir is the best

    i love him

  • I agree. He is WAY cooler than Boremere (spelling?)
