"How much is it without the anesthetic?" I will be ordering the DVD with my next paycheck. I've always wondered, what is the name of the song that is played on radio and in this TV episode after the announcer introduces the show? Thanks for posting this and for keeping the Bickersons legacy alive! Phil created two of radio's most enduring characters in John and Blanche!
This looks like this came from DuMont's "STAR TIME" variety show, on which Lew Parker & Frances Langford appeared in a weekly "Bickersons" sketch on Tuesday nights during the 1950-'51 season.
What a great find! I'm a huge fan of Frances Langford. She was the sweetest, kindest person, a real beauty with a great singing voice and style. This is a bit of a culture shock for me, seeing and hearing her as a real bi***. She's marvelous! Also Lew Parker as John (remember he was Marlo Thomas' dad on 'That Girl')was a perfect foil for Frances as well as the great Don Ameche. Thanks for posting these wonderful video's!
@CarloQuinto I agree. I have heard that Frances was nothing like the character of Blanche Bickerson. She really was very pretty and had a very nice personality in real life.
About a year ago we decided to listen to the radio shows from long ago. Thanks to satelite radio we can listen to the Bickersons regularly. I am not old enough to ever remember seeing them on tv. I am grateful that you have found them and thanks for sharing.
the bickersons were the original GRUMPY humor, its an aquired taste but you'll have a hernia listening to don and blanche,,,,,,,,married with children is a latter day version!
Ameche was very talented. John Bickerson is played by Lew Barker in this version. He also was in an incarnation of the radio show. This is Frances Langford as Blanche. Langford was a great singer as well. Ameche was a better John Bickerson.
Lolol ty!

The Bickersons & Old Time Radio are the best. I love satellite radio where I found the Bickerson.
