I remembered The Wuzzles, DuckTales, TaleSpin, Kidd Video, Lady Lovelylocks, Captain N the Game Master, Clarissa Explains it All, Girl Talk Date Line, Classic Nintendo, Super Nintendo, PlayStation, Heathcliff, Pokemon, VHS Tapes, Laserdiscs, Jem, David the Gnome and Super Mario World.
Can you believe I STILL have the Monkey plush? :3 I don't remember their names, but the show will always have a special place in my heart. Not many people remember the Wuzzles.
@Sylongra Rhinokey was the monkeys name, Eleroo was the elephant/kangaroo, Hoppo was the hippo/rabbit, butterbear was the butterfly/bear bumblebee lion and moosel was the moose/seal :)
@TheAnonymousAspie I suppose you are right...but then why did these shows kick ass and current shows very seldom do? It may be nostaligia talking and I think you are right in that the late eighties going into the nineties were loads better than the early to mid eighties but I honestly can't think of any decent show for kids beyond a handful in the last ten years. Octonauts seems to be good for young kids, Krypto the super dog is ok and of course there is Regular show but what else?
god it taken me til now to remember what the hell this show was called i remember having the game or something and i remember something being called a heffalump but that was it!! ive found it i cant believe it!!
@TheAnonymousAspie Everything is now all CGI cartoons, there is nothing hand drawn anymore... there is a MAJOR difference between a true cartoonist of the early days with out computers and one that can do all the drawing on a PC. I like the classic ways things were done.
I'll tell you what's wrong with TV today, They just don't appreciate the value of the classics. If they ever brought this kind of stuff back, they would get /very/ high ratings, Let us show the current generation what we grew up with.
This was one of my favorite TV shows as a child. Back in those days, most cartoons had a "moral" lesson for children to help them learn social skills and other life lessons. There seemed to be a purpose. Today, I notice that a lot of cartoons have no purpose other than silly entertainment. I miss the days of great cartoons.
I LOVED this show as a kid, and never realised how cool the theme tune was! I can still name all the main characters - (deep breath) Eleroo, Bumblelion, Hoppopotamus, Moosel, Butterbear and Rhinokey!
amen doodles....and btw yall...i always thought someone had to be high when creating this show.....i'm searching for a jem clip...found this looked familar...didnt recall the show..but more i watched more i remember my thought linked to this show....o its a good show for the younger ones....dont get me wrong...just wasnt on my list of childhood favs
haha I wouldn't say it's garbage, its just that when this was out I was young enough to like it, and now the shows made for 5 year olds , I'm too old for now. God, this was on really early before all the other cartoons, I remember. And, I'd say just about all cartoon theme songs back then were horrible. Let's be honest, the early 90s were just the end of the 80s.
@TerrariumFusilage1 I totally agree with you.. I'm really tired of reading all those nostalgic comentaries about (bla bla bla.. today there are only garbage cartoons) people who say that generally don't even bothered to know new cartoons. Today there are good cartoons and bad cartoons, the same way as when we were kids. Times change, people.. and so do you. What happens is that those old cartoons have a special meaning for you.
I haven't seen this since the 80's... oh WOW! This was a Saturday Morning STAPLE. Now I must locate "Pound Puppies", "Muppet Babies", oooh! And You Tube has already found "The Littles"!!! Oh Crap, this will be another sleepless night in Seattle...
WHY HAVE I NEVER SEEN THIS??!?! My golly-gee-whiz, this looks AMAZING. I watched Carebears, Popples, My Little Ponies, Rainbow Brite and Strawberry Shortcake... WHY HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS?!?!? GAAHHHHHH
Oh, my... I still have an Eleroo (is this the name of the elephant/kangaroo in English?) stuffed doll ! And I'm 29 now, so it's been around for some time!
@twink0073 I always remembered the Wuzzles and thought I was the only one till I mentioned it several years ago and my brother started doing the voices hahaha
I've watched loads of these 80s cartoon intros, going down memory lane, and what strikes me is there's so much more put into them... right from the idea for the cartoons to the theme tunes which are almost songs you could've heard in the charts! No effort nowadays, I'm so glad I was a child in the 80s! :)
@Tronix102 Everything is either flash animation, or badly done CGI now. Its so depressing. But hey, at least we all saw the last breath of life for good animation.
P.S. My Dad freaked out when I watched this and My Little Pony & Rainbow Brite. He said "it's gotta turn my 2 boys gay" but my Mom said it was homophobic (the term didn't exist in the 80s) though he was full of B.S. I watched GI Joe & other boy-macho-man war toons, at least it carried a moral lesson in each ending of a 30-minute episode.
GI Joe: "Be a true blue American, but not a bigot...cuz they look different."
More like GM Lab freaks in Dr. Moreau's island of weird animalia! it came from a children's book I had read in school (yea, kids still read in the 80s). I swear Cartoon network i think puts the most imature ppl in a room and say "think of the dumbest show ever and we will air it!" like Adventure Time, Regular Show, and now a MAD tv kid show version!!1 what the heck!
I remember cartoons like this especially on Fox, For Kids, Nickolodean, Jetix, WB, UPN, PBS, PBS Kids, Disney Channel now kids shows and cartoons on the most part except for South Park, Family Guy, Robot Chicken, Boondocks, Squidbillies, Lucy Daughter of the Devil, The Simpsons, Cleveland Show and American Dad since they are all on Fox or Adult swim they fit into one of the two catagories A. wantabee cartoons from the 80's and 90's or B. crap and stupid shows that have little to no creativaty
I guess not many people know this but Wuzzles and Gummi bears were made at the same time, Disney had high hopes for Wuzzles and very little faith in Gummi bears but as we know Gummi bears took off where as Wuzzles didn't and was canned after one season (cartoon season) and thats why most people don't remember seeing too many episodes, because there aren't all that many, only 13 I believe.
@serina115 yes disney did make this one. I have one episode taped from TV years ago, and it was from the disney channel. I dont rememeber very many wuzzles episodes. I still have my wuzzles pillow though.
Fistofreak, i think thats prob true, all cartoon makers of the 80s were of the 60s generation 30-50 YO';s who would have defintely experimented with hallucionagenic substances at uni!

PR Guy: Okay guys...we have our toys ready to ship and our show has its first episode ready to air...so what do we make the theme song?
Yes Man: We...make some shit up?
PR Guy: Good idea! Get to it!
Yes Man: Wait I have to write the song?
P$ Guy: Yes! Just sing about whatever, they are kids, they are too stupid to listen to the lyrics.

Such an underrated Disney classic.. though trying to figure out those instruments they play in the intro makes my brain hurt.

Fistofreak, i think thats prob true, all cartoon makers of the 80s were of the 60s generation 30-50 YO';s who would have defintely experimented with hallucionagenic substances at uni!
