  • LOL I dont know what kinda music been listening to but estelle is not just about the soul. She is about growing up in a lesser of background and still producing soul, reggea music.

Also I have never heard duffy sing reggea or proper soul so you can take your duffy and FUCK OFF BOY!!!!

    from malaysia

  • i always have a real hard time forgetting her at glastonbury ( she must have felt sick or something,) that was a real bad first live impresion. but she sings this so wonderfully and good that it must've been an off day ^_^

  • i love her.... peace from brasil!

  • o want the song whrer she doesnt sing live

  • yea me too, someone needs to upload it

  • nice!

  • Funky rendition of Half-Pint's song......Estelle is dope! It would be nice to see Lauryn and Estelle mash it up together.

  • I think Stelle is great, she definitely took over Amy in England, but when comparing to Ms Hill, nowadays she's better i believe however back in the day that little girl was a princess...

    Love them both thoug

  • when she performed this live...

  • nice song but she lacks PASSION!

  • I liked it! Thanks for posting!

  • thats sooo Lauryn

  • you are so right

  • this is so right, but Hill is MUCH better!

  • It's just that most British R&B singer sound American.

  • dizzee don't!

  • No They Dont

  • They only sound that way when they sing, never rap. And even then, some still sound very British when singing like Adele, Lilly Allen, Amy Winehouse, etc.

  • wtf? what a nasty nasty nasty thing to say!

  • When she raps, you can COMPLETELY tell she's British.

  • love this tune, really sweet.

  • capsones: kuthoer

  • she sounds so good live...a true artist

  • Her bassist has some really nice fills on this recording!

  • its so strange when listening to a song u do remember some of the moments past with some1 special ......

  • Seach for an artist called Half Pint. He did the original version of Subsitute Lover which is far, far better than Estelle's version (which is just okay).

  • I agree that the original is better performed but Estelle's version trumps the original for content because of the way it sough to turn the table on male/female roles in relationship.

  • ILIKE HER VERSION ITS MODERN AND UP TO DATE.BUT iLOVE HALF PINTS VERSION

  • Her version is in nowhere near comparison to the original. The ORIGINAL is a laid back track tmeant to come across in a smooth way.Butwith this tempo it seems like a diss track.NOT the intent of the original.

  • ı think sooo is just a copy of Lauren Hıll she might good but not on her own maybe ı'm wrong but this is the way feels it sorry lol.....peace

  • i've been sleepin' on estelle.. can you guys recommend any other songs of hers that you like?

  • I'm I wrong or she reminds me of Lauren Hill? Very nice voice.

  • i was thinkin the same thing

  • Don't like this at all... not original in any way and not even that good.

  • shes soooo unusual in a nice wayyy

    nostalgic...

  • i like this song :)

  • I did not know about her until lately. I think she has a great voice and enjoyment for listening.

  • Estelle is such a talented siner, rapper, vocal arranger and songwritter

  • I love this song and the disc of stelle shine is amazing all the songs are really cool...

  • i love this song...y mas m encanta porq me hace acordar a vos pendejo de mier!!!!!!!!

  • love estelle!!

  • Estelle does have a fresh sound and style (LOVE her CD "Shine") but this song is borrowed and adapted from George Michael's "Faith" and Half Pint's "Substitute Lover." She credits them in her CD liner notes. All the same, Estelle is rockin' the scene!!

  • this is a real song...

    sounds original and different

  • i love her songs, fresh and different - i'm agree with u marklewisdes! :-) - and i love her style! she's a fashionista!

  • this song by estelle is taken from a reggae song done by half point. good version though

  • Glenn Washington. I love that man

  • what's so good about him?

  • his voice, his lyrics; he is the kind of man who would make me believe the sun, is green and i could see it is not. very sexy man.. in my opinion.

  • i'm much better looking :-D

  • she can sing, great song... and... she's gt a great pair lol

  • perfeito!!muito massa

  • *.*

    perfect

  • just love this song it's so true........

  • I like her music, I think it's fresh and different!

  • WHAT THE HELL HAS THIS SONG GOT TO DO WITH RACISM PEOPLE???? How did racism come in to the conversation??? GEEZ!

  • This is the sexiest song ever..classic n new school..nice!

  • I hope Estelle wins the £20 000!

  • Her actually name is Fanta Estelle Swaray! Estelle is her middle name.

  • this song is great for date :) :P

  • this song is amazing.. and estelle is puuurty! xx

  • Estelle is the shit!!! Her whole cd is amazing and if u haven't gotten "SHINE" yet>shame on U!!! JK Go get it duh!!! One of the best albums of the summer fa'sho!!!

  • Est is most underated singer in England, English IDIOTS have no soul and no taste except for blood.

  • Estelle's song 'American Boy' got to number 1 in England, that's not really neglecting her is it? Why use your opinion about this singer to voice your clear xenophobic prejudice towards English people? Estelle is English, is she also an idiot with no soul or taste except for blood too? Or are you just referring to idiots in England, who are different from idiots elsewhere because they have no soul and no taste except for blood?

  • After living in SA, Holland, Japan England is the most racist place. I am born English but mom is Dutch/SA I dont have idiot English accent called fucking foreigner, Japanese wife&kids called fucking Pakis by English of all races! I had Black gf in SA/Holland, no probs! In Japan nobody called me fucking foreigner and attacked us! Racist English white majority hate foreigners and other English of any race and the racist minoritities hate foreigners & English of any race incl. their own.

  • I sympathise with the verbal abuse you've obviously encountered, and personal experience is a perfectly valid basis for you conclusions. However, you are making a massive generalisation about a whole nationality. Being xenophobic is just as rediculous as being racist, and by harbouring these prejudices the only difference between you and those racists who verbalise their views is that you use YouTube instead...

  • ...What part of England did you live in? I admit that there are areas in some cities in England where racial tension is a problem, and wonder if you resided in one of these? Racism is part of virtually every society, but in those where education is mandatory for all children and tolerance of differences is a mantra the prevelence of racism amongst the population is usually quite low, which is consistent with my experience of living in England...

  • ...I would urge you to not let your negative experience of English people taint your opinion of every English person, as there are many who are kind, generous and open to other cultures and backgrounds (as with all nationalities) :)

  • I live in London. There are mixed gangs, Asian gangs, White gangs and Black gangs. I lived in 'racist' South Africa and never experienced racism there like here. But I'm getting used to it now.

  • No Estelle made some true comments about England, only she maybe a bit stuck up! Her music is great and Im not even Hiphop fan! Maybe she likes Ribena because her name is Fanta?

  • I guess if the citizens are dodgy racist thugs the Authorities and immigrants learn that they have to be too!

  • I got the impression from a few interviews that Estelle was a bit racist which really put me off her, but I'm not sure how right I was. I'm English, I live in Somerset (think predomenantly white) and I'm not racist, nor are any of my friends. Sorry you've had some bad experiences, but you/your family are more than welcome here :)

Anyway I really like Estelle as an artist, this is a great song!

  • I agree with you.

  • I too.

  • OMG she's hotter than Badu and other neo-soul singers.so soulful and talented<33

  • she is soo beautiful...

  • This frickin' good!

  • she made this song her own.

Which is the point of doing a cover.

If you can't appriciate that or have the intelligence to know that. Then go listen to the "original" and stop posting sad pathethic comments. You're not on a star are you? oh wait no. So shut up.

  • I like this song...

I have never heard the original song, but it sounds good through my ears :D

  • the original is a reagge song

  • Yh It Is Originaly By Sanchez

  • Why butcher a good song estelle? Maybe butcher is the wrong word, but for me listening to this just makes me wonder why im not just listening to George Michael's. Chorus is whiney.

  • gosh I totally agree with you she butchered both songs=/ the originals are so much better George Michael's and Half Pint- No Substitute Lover.

  • absolutely brilliant. her voice has matured so much, for the better. Fab song, fab vocal. LOVE IT!

  • One of the best things to come out of the UK music scene over the past year along with Duffy and Adele. A beauty of a lady and a great song. I LOVE IT!

  • this song is just the george michael classic faith with a tiny bit difference,, nothing beats the classics

  • 'tiny bit of difference'?!

the only similarity is that it's in the key of B, and the syncopated verse rythm.

  • love it love it!! but help me out who sang this first time round?? HELP DOING MY HEAD IN!!! xx

  • ESTELLE? Her name should be SHOW STOPPA!!!! She is one of if not THE BEST female performers that I've seen THUS FAR. She brings all of her energy into her performances while always keepin it SEXY and SMOOTH at the same time. And you don't even want to get me started on how TALENTED she is musically and vocally!!!! All of the songs on her album "SHINE" are HITS!!! I mean da gurl is on another level period. KEEP DOIN YO THANG ESTELLE/SHOW STOPPA!!!!

  • Yeah I would love to see Michael Jordan singing Faith while shooting a few hoops, hahaha

  • i haven't a clue but i'd love to know too...

  • about time we had a proper rnb singer

  • that is exactly what i said to my brother earlier!

  • As someone who normally detests the American hiphop culture...I have to say the British girl done good! This is a brilliant song, I was sceptical when I heard it sampled the brilliant George Michael's "Faith" but she's made it her own and it's a fantastic follow-up to "American Boy"...go girl!

  • Estelle is underrated!

  • I love this song

  • i love this song! i think it would be tough it was remixed with a reggae riddim!

  • Wicked tune man! I love these old reggea tunes and the way she's mixed it up.. very clever. Estelle is really growing on me and i think she's got a lot of potential.. we need to support our black british artists.. i hope she goes all the way baby!

  • That was wicked! Love them old reggea tunes man! Estelle is really growing as an artist and we brits should support her and give her time to master her craft... she'll het there!!
