actually, it didnt jump more than 6-6.5 feet. the tiger's rear hind legs never reach higher than the trainer, even after using the log for leverage. sure its tall when it stands, which is why its head got so high. but if a 7-foot tall guy jumps 3 feet in the air, you cant say that he jumps 10 feet in the air.
what I love about tigers is that not only are they they biggest, most powerful of the wild cats but they still retain the awesome swiftness and agility that is the essence of the feline.
@most liberal: Do you think they jump for rubber balls in exchange for food in their natural setting? Of course not. This is conjured for human entertainment. I think it is pathetic.
@bernamonster at least the tiger isn't being killed, it's just got a job to do. it's not natural for humans to fly around the world in metal boxes listening to music they have magically downloaded onto their ipod, but they still do it. cracker.
..wow..and people wonder how tigers can leap 20ft fences and escape?..what's scary is how casual the tiger was about it..nearly effortlessly..and it still got up there..
this tiger is jumping AT LEAST 12 feet... and it started from a crouched position only a few feet away... think if it would have gotten a real running jump, and was angry
@volound lol you're so dumb you don't even know it.
you just spout some random physics term and think that backs up your argument? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
horizontal and vertical velocity are unrelated. that's principle to the whole notion of kinematics. that's why when you're zooming in one direction in space, the amount of fuel you'd have to use to make a 90 degree turn is exactly the same as the amount you'd need to accelerate in the perpendicular direction from rest (plus stopping fuel)
the people who run before the jump are the long jumpers because they need to accelerate to get horizontal velocity. the high jumpers trot up to the cross bar. they don't sprint up to it. they trot up to it.
you can't turn horizontal velocity into vertical velocity. that violates their kinematic independence.
@volound you just don't know anything about physics so you're getting defensive because you're getting tossed around like a pizza pie by someone who does.
"Proper flexibility is an important component of a strong vertical jump. There is two types of flexibility, static and dynamic. Static flexibility is the type evidenced when stretching a muscle and holding it in the stretched state."
@sharpnova2 Dynamic flexibility is the type evidenced when a muscle is stretched during a dynamic motion and it's natural elasticity helps it to snap back more forcibily. A lack of flexibility will limit this dynamic elasticity and affect the vertical jump.
@sharpnova2 "Think of this like a coil spring being compressed. Properly stretched muscles will store energy during the compression phase of a leap and release it explosively during the extension phase. Likewise, a muscle can to be too flexibile when it is statically stretched too much and it's natural elasticity is reduced."
im a postgrad in physics, specialising in astrophysics, wrote my thesis on barycentres of masses.
I actually do study physics. I'm not going to try to throw around credentials because they mean absolute shit on the internet. For example, I'm 100% certain you're lying. You wouldn't have chucked the "conservation of energy" term out from the start if you actually did study physics.
Of course there's some way to twist the system to where conservation is relevant, but you only said it because it sounded legit. Idiot.
@pennydale@3.0 secs in, his bottom legs hit the trainers head. Reach does not count in the vertical leg jump. Any wbna chick can jump that high (include Blake)
they have the strongest and the most powerful muscles, plenty of power is required to leap that high since they weigh about 600lbs

The trunk gives it about two feet plus, but then again the tiger is also about two feet back from the person. Difficult to tell.
xXFlockofGriffinsXx 3 years ago
@pennydale running jump won't increase the height. running is horizontal. jumping is vertical.
sharpnova2 1 year ago
@sharpnova2 right. so people who do the high jump should just stand still then jump.
you clearly know nothing about conservation of energy etc.
volound 1 year ago
@volound lol you're so dumb you don't even know it.

sharpnova2 1 year ago
@sharpnova2 actually its you thats dumb.
actually the physics term was not random at all.
high jumpers store the energy from the run in their legs before they jump. thats why they take the run up.
just face it. all the evidence is against you. NO high jumpers stand still then jump. (WHICH IS WHAT THEY SHOULD DO IF YOU ARE RIGHT)
just stop being a troll/retard.
volound 1 year ago
@volound lol.
the physics term was completely random.
"store the energy from the run"? lol
running expends energy. it doesn't build it up.
the evidence isn't against me.
the people who run before the jump are the long jumpers because they need to accelerate to get horizontal velocity. the high jumpers trot up to the cross bar. they don't sprint up to it. they trot up to it.

like i said earlier, theres a reason high jumpers dont stand still and jump. and its concordant with my argument, very much so.
