I just read the latest part of the One Piece manga and the scene where Nami practically pulverizes Luffy for handing the treasure to Big Mom further shows me that she's a totally selfish witch. Didn't she know that if Luffy didn't give the treasure to Big Mom; not only would Mermaid Island be obliterated but the bomb in one of the chests would take the crew out as well.
A part of me always thought that if there's a moment where NamI had to choose between the crew or gold, she'd sell their souls
@sadlobster1 If you had read the whole chapter, you'd know that there was a chance that it could have been a dud. Granted, it's a pretty slim chance, but it's a chance nonetheless.

@sadlobster1 To be fair, first off, none of them knew there was a bomb in there except for Neptune and the Ministers. Second, there was no indication that Big Mom knew how much treasure that Ryugu Palace held. They could have given her two thirds of it, or even half of it, and there's the possibility she would have bought it. Third, old habits die hard, especially if you've been a thief since your childhood (remember when Nami stole a navigation book from her island's bookstore?)

How exactly would you know how much one object is worth to another person? I could offer you something I think is worth a ton of gold, but you may think it's worth jack squat. I could be taking in something I think is worth a ton of gold but is actually worth more to someone else. Currency provides a base unit that everyone can agree on.

Also, about what you said about Luffy being an idiot; I never understood why characters with the biggest hearts in anime or western cartoons are depicted as morons. Goku, Beast Boy, Luffy and Naruto are four prime examples of what I mean.
