@Tom8371 No- there was another season without David Hasselhoff. He just asked the producers to kill his character off because he was tired of doing the show after 11 years. But they revived him for the TV movie "Baywatch: Hawaiian Wedding".

no what it is, is that they shot the final scene with mitch resurfacing, but the show was axed, after this season, so the director decided to cut the resurfacing scene because he knew there wouldn't be anymore baywatch and give it a more dramatic send off

I just saw the E! entertainment David Hasselhoff true hollywood story, and in that they said (as well as david) that they killed him off by using a stuntman and david didn't find out till a reporter called him about it. How scandalous is that?! He deserved much better, because without David, the show would have been finished after season 1

I do not remember seeing this on anything. I never actually saw this episode, but I do know that fans were led to believe this was Mitch's death until the TV movie about the Hawaiian wedding came out. That is when it turns out he is very much alive and well.

I thought the first seasons with Billy Warlock and Erika Eleniak were not very good. Pamela Anderson coming onto the show is when I began to like it. It started to suck after she left and it stopped being worth watching after they changed locations from California to Hawaii.

Becuase David Hasselhoff was tired of being on the show after 11 years and actually asked for his character to be killed off. You probably know this- but they did make a TV movie a few years later where it turned out Mitch did not die the 10th season after all and was alive with amnesia.

Not only that, but it was Hasselhoff who saved the show when it was initially cancelled by NBC. I think the producers were very ungracious in killing Mitch off.

Mitch Buchannon was killed off by David Hasselhoff's own request. He was tired of the show after 11 years and did not want to do anything for it anymore. Guess he decided replaying his role for a TV movie was not going to be as much work as continuing to appear in episodes throughout a season.

The producers killed Mitch Buchannon off after being asked to by David Hasselhoff himself. He was sick of the show and decided 11 years was enough. But he decided to play his role again for the TV movie made years later. So it was rewritten as if he only suffered amnesia to explain his years of absence.
