  • JGJ sitting there awkwardly until his part makes me laugh.

  • I cry everytime I listen to this.

  • i would love to wake up every day next to her. so incredibly gorgeous

  • she reminds me of fiona apple

  • she reminds me of fiona apple

  • i feel like she's better at the ilse part than martha....hence why she was ilse on broadway! lol

  • Honestly, Lauren Pritchard is the only original cast member that didn't kick all the other ilse's asses, in my opinion

  • @mmmchingawa I feel like she kicks all their asses in Blue Wind and The Song of Purple Summer, but not in this... hm...

  • Gosh I love this song!

  • Well, I don't regret clicking onto this video..

  • peeing myself.

  • So is it Lauren or Lilli Cooper on the Cast Recording? Because I thought it was Martha that was abused, which was Lilli, right?

  • @darknightgirl50210 Yeah thats right. But the second verse is lauren (Illse) who was also abused, then they start singing together. Lauren usually sings the "I dont scream though i know it's wrong..." bit and lilli the beginning. :)

  • @darknightgirl50210 Ahhh sorry, btw, yes it is lilli on the recording with lauren. The comment before was just confusing ;D

  • Luaren Pritchard is great, but personally I prefer Steffi D. Her voice wasn't as thin and shaky, and she sung with more conviction.

  • Lauren Pritchard is most definitely the best Ilse ever. Her voice is simply amazing, but she seemed like she was struggling with the first verse in this video, and she seemed to be lacking the vibrato that she had when she first started the roll...

An amazing performance, but still, something seemed a little off...

  • @tinngrinn She doesn't normally sing the first verse, so that would make sense, wouldn't it?

  • She is definitely stronger in the second verse. Still an amazing singer. I can't wait for her album to come out.

  • I think that would make sense, as she sang the second verse in the show as Ilse.

  • THIS SONG IS ONE OF THE MOST SOULFUL AND SADDEST SONGS iV'E EVER HEARD!! THIS GIRL WAS PIC JUST RIGHT FOR THIS PARK

  • I don't exactly what I love about Lauren, but she's the definitive Ilse for me. I love how soulful her voice is, and she's such a strong actress that even on the soundtrack you can hear every emotion she conveys.

  • Finally, the original! She's the ORIGINAL Ilse.

  • I disagree WhoalitsJonathan- I like Steffi D- but there is something about Lauren that can pull off the role as Ilse better than any actress I have seen (yet), Lauren has a soulful, raw powerful voice. A voice that when she sings you can almost feel that she really went through all of thoes horrible thigns shes singing about- When played correctly, Ilse is a hard charater to do- to be vulnerable, confident, and broken all the same time-- not easy..so yay for you lauren!

  • So pretty, I really wish it wasn't about what it is. :(

  • Lauren will always be my favorite Ilse!!! no matter what!! her voice is perfect!! and she does it so well I loved her the first time I saw Spring Awakening!!

  • I don't really like Lauren that much. The Ilse I saw on tour (Steffi D) was wayy better.

  • WOW! This is an amaizing song! I love it soo much!

  • i love love love them!

  • What a bunch of sweetie-pies. Love them.

    : D

  • God this song is creepy....

  • in a GOOD way, riiiiight?

(because I'd hate for you to get verbally lashed by fangirls like myself. ;])

  • Lauren sounds amazing, as she usually does

  • I think she sounds really good, and raw. I really enjoy this performance.

  • john is well fittt

  • She has an amazing voice!

  • her voice has SOUL in it!!

  • wow. this song is so amazing. i myself have never been through what martha and ilse have but i feel so conected and as if i know, just from the lyrics. and the emotion is just so powerful. i feel as if i know their pain and fustration and their fear. incredible.

and i don't really understand everyone who says that the backround vocals aren't for john, because he sang them in the show along with the other boys.

  • Lauren Pritchard has such a rich soul filled voice. It's' so amazing.

  • this makes my soul hurt. i love it.

  • yeah not so hot on Martha's verse but Ilse's is amazing as always. go lauren! and Johnny!

  • she sounds really awkward singing the first verse but when it comes to Ilse's verse she's great. Not fond of Gallagher doing this.

  • actually, lilli was sposed to sing the whole thing herself

  • amazing

  • she sounds like she's hurting... :(

  • ummm. I can see that being a good thing as that IS what the song is about... so why the negative marks???

  • yes, I understand that, but I was trying to use the vagueness in your comment to twist it around, because you have four negative comments, trying to have people view all angles that your comment could have.

  • I agree... does she always sound like this live?

  • She used to not. But in recent performance I've heard of her it's not quite the same as it used to be. But I still think she sounds awesome and obviously better than I could ever be.

  • Haunting backround vocals. Haunting lead vocals. Overall a very effective, haunting song.

  • jgallagher is amazing at those backups. it made the song even more powerful and haunting.

  • how old is this video?

  • gallaghers backups are amazing

  • whew. i <3 her.

  • amazing <3

  • sad song

  • wow.. that was so..haunting..
