@benjmann2 There is a big difference between priests and teachers. Priests are supposedly representatives of a HIGHER MORAL AUTHORITY. Teachers are not. The betrayal by the priest is greater, and the betrayal of the Catholic Church is their systematic cover-up and their transferring of known offenders to other dioceses has stripped the Church of ANY moral authority. Each one of those children have been given a life sentence of emotional and mental trauma from which very few will recover.
What insults? There are none. Your reasoning is identical to that of the cowards who wouldn't kill Hitler b/c 'killing is such a bad thing, oooh, we can't do that, other people won't like us.' Some criminals are so vile that they must be killed to be stopped. As Hitchens makes clear, the Pope is complicit with covering up unspeakable acts against children. Meting out justice to massive evil-doers trumps any pathetic calculation of popularity. You sound like the kind of person who would abstain from trying to eliminate Hitler b/c of the fact that Nazis wouldn't like you if you did it.

my 2cents, theist, agnostic and atheist describe "knowledge" or "knowing". However, the problem with agnosticism comes from "belief". One can not very well say they "don't know" if they believe or not...it is a yes or no question. So, atheists can view the agnostic as somewhat unprincipled for being unwilling to take a stance...and on the other side the person might be holding on to there misinformed belief that agnosticism deals with belief cause they are unwilling to state they are atheist.

Can these people get any more obvious? Not a catholic, not an atheist.. but can they get less profile people to suggest such a thing? Otherwise, it just looks like a pitiful stab at God...
@earthygreen A stab at pedophiles getting away with a crime and sheltered by their leader, is a stab at god? So the god of the hebrews/catholics/muslims = Lord of the pedo's? O.K.
Seeking justice is NEVER pitiful, and nobody wants your pity.
@bugabachuchu wondering WTF you were talking about in this response. Clearly a case of one defending the other. The religion of self-aggrandizement. Try agnosticism, it's a hell of a lot more honest.
@earthygreen Agnosticism is far from honest, it's heavily influenced by theism. If you're going to call atheism a religion, then the off switch on your tv is just another channel, not playing football is a sport, and not collecting stamps is a hobby.
@SirRyanAfronIt's people who say you can't know whether a god exists or not. They don't realise that agnostic is not a third choice to theist and atheist. If you believe a god exists you are a theist. If you lack a belief in any gods you are an atheist. You can be an agnostic theist (I dunno if god exists, but i believe in him) or an agnostic atheist (I dunnow if a god exists, and i dont believe in one). But people who name themselves "agnostic" tend to be hipsters, trying to be "cool/different".
@bugabachuchu Well done, you managed to google the word. But agnosticism isn't a definitive claim that you can't know whether a god exists or not, it just shows that the individual, agnostic, doesn't know. Theres nothing wrong with not knowing.
And well done stereotyping agnostics, bravo indeed. I'm an agnostic atheist, and I really am cool/different.
@bugabachuchu How can you say agnoticism is influenced by Theism? It literally means CANNOT KNOW. How can something you cannot know be heavily influencing you? It sounds like your need to defend you're self-aggrandizement has landed you squarely in the lacking-reason catagory. The declaration that you *know* there isn't a god, is egotistical and arrogant. You know *nothing* conclusive either way. Nobody does. Have you ever found evidence proving a negative? Do tell.
All this rape shit. Never heard about it to be honest. And saying the catholic church is evil? Um ok, live your fantasy. You guys focus too much on media propaganda rather than the good deeds the church has done.
@DanteG9298 That level of absolutely revolting ignorance should be embarrassing. We choose to ignore the few good deeds it has done presently and remember the atrocities and evils it was capable of when it had the power and strength to do so.
And the Catholic Church overall has tortured and killed hundreds of millions of people for completely unjustifiable and pathetic causes over the millenia, as well as suppressing science and human progress, a crime in itself. It was the force behind the dark ages. The Inquisitions, the Crusades...
Can you find me a more evil organization? Hitler? He was a devout catholic who was aided and protected by the church. Yeah, really.
You cant force people to believe or not to believe. You either choose to or not. The pope has yet to commit any crimes. And because of this, this Chris guy is probably taking his hate out on an innocent man of importance that doesn't agree with his beliefs. It's the sad truth.
@DanteG9298 I'm sorry but I disagree - Obstructing justice is a crime - the Pope should not be writing letters or pulling strings so that child rapists don't have to answer for their crimes
@DanteG9298 The Pope is an accomplice. There are people in the USA that have been sentenced to death for being an accomplice. Say you and a buddy rob a bank. Only your buddy goes into the bank. You just drive the car. But if you get caught you both get the same punishment, perhaps 20 years. You can’t say, “I’m innocent. I only drove the car.” The Pope is just as guilty. But as the representative of god, he is above the law. Nobody is going to persecute the Pope. It’s a mockery of justice.
Historically the position of pope has been the source of more torture and death than any other on earth (a large part of it through the inquisition and pope innocent III and his successors), as far as I'm aware. The current ex-Nazi (yes really, he was Hitler Youth) pope already has millions of deaths in Africa on his hands (being conservative), the cover up over the child molestation is just icing on the cake.
Christopher Hitchens as usual is an amazing intellectual, and I agree with alot of things he said, in fact I thank him for showing me who Mother Teresa really is. But he REALLY needs to shut up sometimes and let people talk.
@WorldBibleUnion454 Noone would seriously expect to arrest the pope because he's too powerful. It's as simple as that. He could serve third-world children up on a silver platter to new priests and people would just proclaim how he was just trying to save them from poverty. But no honorable, no moral person would simply let something like that slide by, whether or not they had a real chance of doing something...
@WorldBibleUnion454 ehh what?? Why wouldnt they believe that?? Someone has been brainwashed by religion and its not me.. Time to wake up and stop believing in fairy tales..
@WorldBibleUnion454 Well they made a good point. What if the pope would murder someone, would that be ok too? Stop the brainwash! Come over too the good and sane side..
The Catholic church is a organized crime syndicate, fully extraditable and prosecutable under RICCO statutes. Oh wait, they call themselves a religion, well, nevermind. No one has the right to rape children, obstruct justice and commit multiple felonies; unless they have some political or religious title. Anyone who has given money to the catholic church since the pedophile scandal should be prosecuted and imprisoned under the RICCO statutes.
@bddc201 maybe not imprisoned but should feel shameful about it. The clerics responsible should face the justice system just like anyone else. Shame you were a bit harsh about the last bit, yours could've been a top rated comment.
@nbm953 You're right, I went too far. Personally, I don't see how anyone with a conscience can darken the door of a Catholic church after what came to light. Never before in recorded history has there been multiple child rapes of this magnitude, and somehow they get a pass because they're a religion. When religion becomes more important than a child's right to not be raped, it's time to dispose of it. Catholocism, and all religions have outlived their usefulness. That's assuming they ever were.
God made it very clear in the stories of Lot, Abraham and Noah: if you want a ticket to heaven you MUST hand your children over to his representatives for pederasty. The Pope should excommunicate anyone who does not actively support the torture and buggery of their own children - then it might actually be a "private matter" beyond the law ??
Hollow vapid despicable evil institution that is the Catholic Church. Bring these monsters to justice. My heart goes out to the innocent victims of these hideous excuses for human beings.
It's not just the Vatican, name me ANY religious order that does not protect it's hierarchy from crimes they have committed..... And Dawkins and Hitchens really couldn't give two shits about the children, they are just finding another reason to push there own agenda, which makes them just as bad at the religious monkeys, i don't see them trying to arrest the owners of pedo forums etc etc etc, they are show-boaters and liars to boot, atheist & zealots = shit.
@timothemad That is pure nonsense. The point is that no one else dares to say this. Dawkins and Hitchens are not lawyers and have no business in getting involved with a "regular" pedo case. No one else has the balls to set things straight, so therefore they come forward. And you say they are liars, what exactly did they lie about? And what's the point of you saying it's not only the Vatican? All religions are fucked up, yes.
@Sieceres About their motives, they are showboating, this has nothing to do with the child abuse, but has only to do with their own agenda of atheism and getting publicity. Everyone who doesn't go to church or believe what their parents have made them believe have the 'balls' to challenge the religions everyday. I said the Vatican, because that is their target, the pope is a leader is well known...it suits their purpose. Not pure nonsense, just my view, thanks for accepting it.
@timothemad I would've given you a longer answer had you said something else than you said in the other post, but basically you just repeated yourself. How about we meet in the middle - yes, it is your view, and it is nonsense.
Hitchens and Dawkins look like complete fools because of this. It has nothing to do with child sex crimes within the church, they just wanted to get one up on religion.
@TheBlackWhirlwind So we can take it that you agree with the wholesale cover-up, by the church, of these horrible crimes? I would also argue that "Hitchens and Dawkins" really are not generally referred to as fools. And finally, it is not hard to "get one up on religion" as it seeks to fight its corner from a defenceless position. All religions need to lose their tax-exempt status and need to be accountable in law as is the general populace - end of
I do not agree with any such cover-ups. But there is insufficient evidence to warrant an arrest on the current Pope, and the accusations made against his name by Hitchens, Dawkins, Tatchell, etc. are bordering on slander.
@TheBlackWhirlwind There certainly isn't insufficient evidence to warrant an arrest, literally dozens of documents both written (and signed) and received by the pope show his clear involvement in the mis-management of these sex abuse cases.I suggest you look into the evidence of the cases yourself before commenting on such serious issues and making yourself look foolish. He has been protected from charges because he is the pope which is clearly wrong and shameful.
What now? Let me tell you what now. I'm gonna call a couple of hard, pipe-hitting niggas to go to work on the pope here with a pair of pliers and a blow torch. You hear me talking, hillbilly boy? I ain't through with you by a damn sight. I'm gonna get medieval on your ass.
And what would be a fitting punishment for the pope? I would move to have him systematically and mercilessly sodomized (like the countless victims of the church), by well-endowed African males infected by AIDS. With or without a condom though, that is the question.
Man! I wanna work as an aide under the pope! He will help me cover up my crimes when I rape the little girls who come to the church! Woot! Ok, gonna go get serious on some bible studies! My target is at 50 victims, let's see who can break my record!
They want to arrest the Pope! Why they don't arrest their leaders who lead them to war after war and made their economy crumble, why they don't arrest who was behind the "assassination" of their beloved Princess, Princess Diana, what a bunch of morons filled with nasty pride.
What a paradise for queers. Just become a priest and when that nasty little boy comes to confession, you know exactly which ones to hit on. Confession should be done away with.
@279cute Because it's true and worth looking into. The Pope is the head of the largest operating organized crime syndicate in the world, I really do think he ought to be punished for it.
You know, if I were Hitchens, as it looks like the end is near, I would give strong consideration to the idea of visiting the Vatican wearing a vest full of fireworks. He could probably get a meeting with 'his holiness' and help him hasten the moment at which he gets to empirically test his belief in an afterlife.
@dannybambino Or lets let them get married and not allow homosexuals tobe priests, if these guys are straight why didnt they go to a prostitute? because they are really gays hiding behind the celibate priesthood. why do predators take on jobs like teachers etc where kids are? same deal here. they hide behind the priesthood just as they faked marriages to make them look normal.
@dannybambino Me too. Going back and watching videos of debates and interviews that included Hitchens from the last three is incredibly disheartening. He is often coughing or clearing his throat. It makes you want to tell him then that he was ill. *sigh*
I'm not here to argue. But there is a difference between abusing and using.
Maybe he is talking about people that drug themselves so much that it is ruining their lifes.
This is the same way I think. A drink and a cigarette each day isn't bad. But when you have to wake up, drink vodka, light a cigarette, to get out of bed, that is when my view on a person changes to negativity and sometimes pity.
Hitch has a morning swig, lunch wine and gets stuck into the whiskey in the evening and smoked like a fish its a bit hypocritical to call drug users as bad as religious...a form of escapism but what the hell does he need to dull his senses for with liquor and tobacco and how is that not escapism ?? he reckons he works better but that just a lame excuse for abuse just like any drug user : it helps me relax, sleep, think, feel, fuck better bit pious if u ask me
@lyco46 Hey, I said I'm not here to argue. I was just making a point. A lot of people, religious and non, love to drink themselves into a stupor every now and then (maybe some more often than others), and I don't see them as a lesser person because of that.
5:07-5:10 I hate to correct you, Chris (and I'm hardly a PC fanatic), but you may want to find a euphemism for the outdated (and understandably offensive) term, "deaf-and-dumb."
@kneebutt I'm not trying to get anyone to believe anything. I'm trying to understand how any of this has to do with anything but the Pope being head of state.
@kneebutt I didn't say the priests who protected child rapists are in jail. I said the priests who did the raping are in jail. But that is entirely the point. The priests who covered up the raping are not evading justice because they are called priests. They are evading justice because they have a foreign state to hide in. This is an extradition problem, not a problem of people who call them selves priests getting away with anything.
@kneebutt Moreover, the head of state arguments not my argument; its their argument. Neither the Vatican nor Hitchen's lawyers are making the case the the Pope does or does not have sovereign immunity as head of a religious organization. They're making the case that he does or does not have sovereign immunity as head of state.
@kneebutt I'm not making an argument; I'm asking a question. What does any of this have to do with the Pope being the head of a religious organization if being the head of a religious organization isn't whats protecting him from questioning?
@offkeychris123 What, religious people are allowed to rape children now? Where do you ge that? I thought the problem was that the Pope has immunity as head of state, not as head of a religious organization.?
Lol. Well for a start, there's a lot more bible bashers out getting away with this shit, and the point of this video was that they we're more worried about the effect this wud have on the church, rather the Childs well-being, if u like it or not most of religion is just an evil business!
@offkeychris123 I can agree that the Church put its own interest ahead of the interest of others at the expense of those others well being - as most all religious institutions or businesses do - but that isn't what this video was about.
Read the bottom headlines in the interview "Vativan: Pope is hea of state" "Hitchens and Dawkins: Pope not head of state".
This has nothing to do with bible bashers getting away with anything. These two are even admitting that.
@offkeychris123 This is kind of like saying that a head of state who also happens to be a golf champion should be hauled in because it will show the world that just because you play golf doesn't mean you can get away with a crime. Being a golf champion isn't whats protecting him, and whether or not golfers are getting away with anything is totally off the point.
@offkeychris123 Lastly, I'm not sure what you mean by "bible bashers getting away with this shit". The priests who did the raping - who didn't flee the scene - are in jail. Their being priests DIDN'T protect them from justice. Being a priest doesn't protect anyone from anything. Being head of state - however - is another story.
Ok, yeah your right, do agree with you, but you still have to remember there is 2 ways of looking at this, a political view and a religious view, what u have to remember it Christopher Hitchens and we all no his views a morals, I cud guarantee that if this guy wasn't the pope, mr hitchens wudnt have even bothered with this, also understanding the comment a made, was a sudden out burst of rage for my hatred towards religion in general, now I guessing u r a American christain?..
@confusedmatthew (carried on) I made this assumption because I don't believe a fellow atheist would argue with my first comment, you do understand the fact that all religion Is, is a virus used to brain wash individuals, for power, money and control, important figures in religion, priests and so forth do get protected by the church, for lies, scams and crimes, if u like it or not, and also remember I wrote a comment not a statement , there 2 different things
@offkeychris123 You misunderstand. I don't have any interest in this issue from the point of view of being either religious or anti - religious. I'm interested in this being either a good case or a bad case. The whole thin just seems to me to be one big publicity stunt. More Hitchens trying to make a show of the Pope than really calling for justice. You assumption that I am an American Christian is unsurprising to me ...
@offkeychris123 Its getting to the point where people seem to believe that only a Christian could possibly disagree with what Dawkins and Hitchens are doing. Probably because people aren't use to other people not liking them for reasons that are not religiously motivated. Well I am not religiously motivated. I don't like either men because of shit like this - not because of how they feel about religion. This is not about justice for either of them. Its just about making a statement.
Look iv enjoyed this little chat, but I have to say I am getting a little pissed off, I am English if u havnt noticed and quiet frankly wot it comes down to is, the blokes a fucking pervert! (to put it politely) and dnt care if he's the pope, head of state, or father fucking Christmas! I dnt want him in my country. Now u can laugh at my comments all day long. But when undermine hitchens or Dawkins, that's 1 of the biggest insults u can throw at me!
@offkeychris123 I would never laugh at anything you've had to say, but your comments have confirmed what I have suspected all along: That this isn't about any real want for justice, but rather an emotionally driven demonstration of what a certain side of an issue doesn't like.
@russellrummage None of my comments thus far have had anything to do with peadophiles or peadophelia. The issue is whether or not the popes actions (or inactions) constitute crimes against humanity under international law.
I'm not just saying this coz I'm an English atheist, which I'm sure u understand was the enishal spark to my first comment, and there's sum issues in this conversation I dnt wish to further discuss, I'm sure ur a nice chap and I'm not trying to start a fight, I'm sure we can come to sum sort of agreement
I think that, if you asked, most Catholics would absolutely agree with Hitchens on this, I certainly do.
I'm not sure that the pope is hiding behind the cloth so much as he is hiding behind the bureaucracy of the church as a political organization. That being said, I don't know anybody, Catholic, religious, or not, that wouldn't want to see a criminal answer for these kinds of crimes, and this kind of negligence.

my 2cents, theist, agnostic and atheist describe "knowledge" or "knowing". However, the problem with agnosticism comes from "belief". One can not very well say they "don't know" if they believe or not...it is a yes or no question. So, atheists can view the agnostic as somewhat unprincipled for being unwilling to take a stance...and on the other side the person might be holding on to there misinformed belief that agnosticism deals with belief cause they are unwilling to state they are atheist.
ahfa53 6 months ago
@ahfa53
Technically, "Agnosticism and Gnosticism" deal with knowledge, while "Atheism and Theism" deal with belief (or lack thereof.
Too many people have made Agnosticism out to be a belief, when it is entirely compatible with Atheism and Agnosticism.

@earthygreen A stab at pedophiles getting away with a crime and sheltered by their leader, is a stab at god? So the god of the hebrews/catholics/muslims = Lord of the pedo's? O.K.
Seeking justice is NEVER pitiful, and nobody wants your pity.
bugabachuchu 6 months ago
@bugabachuchu wondering WTF you were talking about in this response. Clearly a case of one defending the other. The religion of self-aggrandizement. Try agnosticism, it's a hell of a lot more honest.
earthygreen 6 months ago
@earthygreen Agnosticism is far from honest, it's heavily influenced by theism. If you're going to call atheism a religion, then the off switch on your tv is just another channel, not playing football is a sport, and not collecting stamps is a hobby.
bugabachuchu 6 months ago
@bugabachuchu Agnosticism is dishonest? You clearly don't know what agnosticism is, good sir.
SirRyanAfron 6 months ago
@SirRyanAfronIt's people who say you can't know whether a god exists or not. They don't realise that agnostic is not a third choice to theist and atheist. If you believe a god exists you are a theist. If you lack a belief in any gods you are an atheist. You can be an agnostic theist (I dunno if god exists, but i believe in him) or an agnostic atheist (I dunnow if a god exists, and i dont believe in one). But people who name themselves "agnostic" tend to be hipsters, trying to be "cool/different".
bugabachuchu 6 months ago
@bugabachuchu Well done, you managed to google the word. But agnosticism isn't a definitive claim that you can't know whether a god exists or not, it just shows that the individual, agnostic, doesn't know. Theres nothing wrong with not knowing.
And well done stereotyping agnostics, bravo indeed. I'm an agnostic atheist, and I really am cool/different.
SirRyanAfron 6 months ago
@bugabachuchu How can you say agnoticism is influenced by Theism? It literally means CANNOT KNOW. How can something you cannot know be heavily influencing you? It sounds like your need to defend you're self-aggrandizement has landed you squarely in the lacking-reason catagory. The declaration that you *know* there isn't a god, is egotistical and arrogant. You know *nothing* conclusive either way. Nobody does. Have you ever found evidence proving a negative? Do tell.

Ryakki 7 months ago
You cant force people to believe or not to believe. You either choose to or not. The pope has yet to commit any crimes. And because of this, this Chris guy is probably taking his hate out on an innocent man of importance that doesn't agree with his beliefs. It's the sad truth.
DanteG9298 7 months ago
@DanteG9298 I'm sorry but I disagree - Obstructing justice is a crime - the Pope should not be writing letters or pulling strings so that child rapists don't have to answer for their crimes
Retardedpumpkinface 7 months ago
@DanteG9298 The Pope is an accomplice. There are people in the USA that have been sentenced to death for being an accomplice. Say you and a buddy rob a bank. Only your buddy goes into the bank. You just drive the car. But if you get caught you both get the same punishment, perhaps 20 years. You can’t say, “I’m innocent. I only drove the car.” The Pope is just as guilty. But as the representative of god, he is above the law. Nobody is going to persecute the Pope. It’s a mockery of justice.
grisflyt 7 months ago 23
@DanteG9298

@WorldBibleUnion454 Noone would seriously expect to arrest the pope because he's too powerful. It's as simple as that. He could serve third-world children up on a silver platter to new priests and people would just proclaim how he was just trying to save them from poverty. But no honorable, no moral person would simply let something like that slide by, whether or not they had a real chance of doing something...

nbm953 8 months ago
The Catholic church is a organized crime syndicate, fully extraditable and prosecutable under RICCO statutes. Oh wait, they call themselves a religion, well, nevermind. No one has the right to rape children, obstruct justice and commit multiple felonies; unless they have some political or religious title. Anyone who has given money to the catholic church since the pedophile scandal should be prosecuted and imprisoned under the RICCO statutes.
bddc201 8 months ago
@bddc201 maybe not imprisoned but should feel shameful about it. The clerics responsible should face the justice system just like anyone else. Shame you were a bit harsh about the last bit, yours could've been a top rated comment.
nbm953 8 months ago
@nbm953 You're right, I went too far. Personally, I don't see how anyone with a conscience can darken the door of a Catholic church after what came to light. Never before in recorded history has there been multiple child rapes of this magnitude, and somehow they get a pass because they're a religion. When religion becomes more important than a child's right to not be raped, it's time to dispose of it. Catholocism, and all religions have outlived their usefulness. That's assuming they ever were.
bddc201 8 months ago
God made it very clear in the stories of Lot, Abraham and Noah: if you want a ticket to heaven you MUST hand your children over to his representatives for pederasty. The Pope should excommunicate anyone who does not actively support the torture and buggery of their own children - then it might actually be a "private matter" beyond the law ??

chucknorris136 9 months ago
It's not just the Vatican, name me ANY religious order that does not protect it's hierarchy from crimes they have committed..... And Dawkins and Hitchens really couldn't give two shits about the children, they are just finding another reason to push there own agenda, which makes them just as bad at the religious monkeys, i don't see them trying to arrest the owners of pedo forums etc etc etc, they are show-boaters and liars to boot, atheist & zealots = shit.
timothemad 9 months ago
@timothemad That is pure nonsense. The point is that no one else dares to say this. Dawkins and Hitchens are not lawyers and have no business in getting involved with a "regular" pedo case. No one else has the balls to set things straight, so therefore they come forward. And you say they are liars, what exactly did they lie about? And what's the point of you saying it's not only the Vatican? All religions are fucked up, yes.
Sieceres 9 months ago
@Sieceres About their motives, they are showboating, this has nothing to do with the child abuse, but has only to do with their own agenda of atheism and getting publicity. Everyone who doesn't go to church or believe what their parents have made them believe have the 'balls' to challenge the religions everyday. I said the Vatican, because that is their target, the pope is a leader is well known...it suits their purpose. Not pure nonsense, just my view, thanks for accepting it.
timothemad 9 months ago

Hitchens and Dawkins look like complete fools because of this. It has nothing to do with child sex crimes within the church, they just wanted to get one up on religion.
TheBlackWhirlwind 9 months ago
@TheBlackWhirlwind So we can take it that you agree with the wholesale cover-up, by the church, of these horrible crimes? I would also argue that "Hitchens and Dawkins" really are not generally referred to as fools. And finally, it is not hard to "get one up on religion" as it seeks to fight its corner from a defenceless position. All religions need to lose their tax-exempt status and need to be accountable in law as is the general populace - end of
blzbub1 8 months ago
@blzbub1
I do not agree with any such cover-ups. But there is insufficient evidence to warrant an arrest on the current Pope, and the accusations made against his name by Hitchens, Dawkins, Tatchell, etc. are bordering on slander.
TheBlackWhirlwind 8 months ago
@TheBlackWhirlwind There certainly isn't insufficient evidence to warrant an arrest, literally dozens of documents both written (and signed) and received by the pope show his clear involvement in the mis-management of these sex abuse cases.I suggest you look into the evidence of the cases yourself before commenting on such serious issues and making yourself look foolish. He has been protected from charges because he is the pope which is clearly wrong and shameful.

lyco46 1 year ago
@lyco46
I know I made grammatical errors please spare me.
evilcheese439 1 year ago
Hitch has a morning swig, lunch wine and gets stuck into the whiskey in the evening and smoked like a fish its a bit hypocritical to call drug users as bad as religious...a form of escapism but what the hell does he need to dull his senses for with liquor and tobacco and how is that not escapism ?? he reckons he works better but that just a lame excuse for abuse just like any drug user : it helps me relax, sleep, think, feel, fuck better bit pious if u ask me
its irrational

@kneebutt I'm not trying to get anyone to believe anything. I'm trying to understand how any of this has to do with anything but the Pope being head of state.
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@kneebutt I didn't say the priests who protected child rapists are in jail. I said the priests who did the raping are in jail. But that is entirely the point. The priests who covered up the raping are not evading justice because they are called priests. They are evading justice because they have a foreign state to hide in. This is an extradition problem, not a problem of people who call them selves priests getting away with anything.
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@kneebutt Moreover, the head of state arguments not my argument; its their argument. Neither the Vatican nor Hitchen's lawyers are making the case the the Pope does or does not have sovereign immunity as head of a religious organization. They're making the case that he does or does not have sovereign immunity as head of state.
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@kneebutt I'm not making an argument; I'm asking a question. What does any of this have to do with the Pope being the head of a religious organization if being the head of a religious organization isn't whats protecting him from questioning?

offkeychris123 1 year ago
@offkeychris123 What, religious people are allowed to rape children now? Where do you ge that? I thought the problem was that the Pope has immunity as head of state, not as head of a religious organization.?
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@confusedmatthew
Lol. Well for a start, there's a lot more bible bashers out getting away with this shit, and the point of this video was that they we're more worried about the effect this wud have on the church, rather the Childs well-being, if u like it or not most of religion is just an evil business!
offkeychris123 1 year ago
@offkeychris123 I can agree that the Church put its own interest ahead of the interest of others at the expense of those others well being - as most all religious institutions or businesses do - but that isn't what this video was about.
Read the bottom headlines in the interview "Vativan: Pope is hea of state" "Hitchens and Dawkins: Pope not head of state".
This has nothing to do with bible bashers getting away with anything. These two are even admitting that.
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@confusedmatthew lol "Vadivan.;" Meant Vatican.
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@offkeychris123 This is kind of like saying that a head of state who also happens to be a golf champion should be hauled in because it will show the world that just because you play golf doesn't mean you can get away with a crime. Being a golf champion isn't whats protecting him, and whether or not golfers are getting away with anything is totally off the point.
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@offkeychris123 Lastly, I'm not sure what you mean by "bible bashers getting away with this shit". The priests who did the raping - who didn't flee the scene - are in jail. Their being priests DIDN'T protect them from justice. Being a priest doesn't protect anyone from anything. Being head of state - however - is another story.
confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@confusedmatthew
Ok, yeah your right, do agree with you, but you still have to remember there is 2 ways of looking at this, a political view and a religious view, what u have to remember it Christopher Hitchens and we all no his views a morals, I cud guarantee that if this guy wasn't the pope, mr hitchens wudnt have even bothered with this, also understanding the comment a made, was a sudden out burst of rage for my hatred towards religion in general, now I guessing u r a American christain?..

confusedmatthew 1 year ago
@offkeychris123 Its getting to the point where people seem to believe that only a Christian could possibly disagree with what Dawkins and Hitchens are doing.
