@Army91F A friend of mine went in the navy recently and said the EOD guys were quite possibly insane. I believe him, mostly because my father retired at 30 years, 20 of it being active duty Navy EOD. He's bat-shit crazy but one hell of a man nonetheless.

Only the dive part for Navy EOD is in Panama City. The EOD school for all branches to include Navy is at Eglin AFB (about 50 miles from Panama). The EOD memorial is on Eglin Air Force Base right next to the school. The school is about 15 miles from main base.
Won't let me paste a link but just google "eod memorial" its the first one that comes up.

Navy EOD is the best bomb disposal unit in the world....My dad's been in for 30 years and is retiring in a few months....If you ever get a chance visit the EOD memorial in Pensacola, Fl at EOD school....all the names of every EOD tech killed in action is on it...sobering stuff....if ur lucky you might hear or better yet FEEL something go off on one of the ranges while ur there...........
@Drumster18 Are you sure it's not in Panama City, FL? That's where dive school is for EOD. I was Aircrew (AW) and that's the Navy's aviation A-school base. I was there for months and didn't see an EOD memorial.
@ziplin yes dive school in in Panama City and is also the head quarters for the Center for EOD and Diving..my dad commanded for the first three years of its existence after it was stood up..but EOD School is located on Eglin AFB (I thought it was closer to Pensacola, my fail)..EOD school Dive School and Prep school all make up the command and the training pipeline for Navy EOD..The EOD memorial is there i promise lol..thanks for serving man..I'm shipping out to basic in July as a SEAL candidate
@Drumster18 Yeah P-cola is a big base so I'm sure I could have easily missed it. Best of luck with BUD/s and Seal training! Having the balls to even try is a lot more balls than most people in this country have haha take care!
Navy EOD does a lot of work because they typicaly recieve more training in areas like scuba(all Navy EOD techs are second class Divers I believe), most if not all get fast rope training and a vast majority have at least static line jump wings while many others also have HALO wings as well. Its not that the other services are not capable of these other skills its that the Navy has the most techs w/ that advanced training.
I agree. My husband is retired AF EOD, and is now an instructor. Don't FO guys/gals, keep your head. And remember don't party, it's not just your life when you graduate, your also risking lives around you. So pay attention in class.
Yeah, he really did-does. Once you pass and get your crab then you are and will aways be EOD. There is a brotherhood there, it's not just a single military branch it's AF, Navy, Army, Marines. It doesn't matter what branch you joined.
Good luck if your just beginning, or thinking of joining.
thank you very much.. i'm enlisting real soon :), i was aiming for a pilot but didn't meet up to the minimum grades but i'm glad cause very much prefer to become an EOD or ammunician technician (in england), i adore explosions... absoultely inspiring and love the under pressure feeling. hope you and ur husband hav a gd life
for all of those about to go to eod school, I am a military instructor at Redstone. The failure rate there right now is about 50% at Redstone alone, so if you are going to go there and screw off, don't waste the military's time. You need to be focused at all times.
hopefully i'll see you there, but i have no clue if i'll get the job im shootin for basic ammo and ordanance disposal but, i dont know if they are going to give it to me... my recruiter says there just going to fuck me over and probably make me an ammo tech..i qualified for every job.. any ideas?
@alanamazing hey i saw your comment on the EOD video about the failure rate for this mos. I reserved an army EOD job this week and was wondering what the main reason for people failing was? lack of maturity/studying? or the amount of material to learn? thanks for any advice.
I sure miss this. I'm a Norwegian EOD Veteran, that's no longer in service because of damaged knees. If you consider serving your nation, bcoming an EOD technician is the best way!
good luck. explosive ordnance disposal isnt an easy school to go through. i only made it there for a little bit. extremely high failure rate. i hope ur on ur game. but its an amazing job, you definatly have all my respect man. very noble job. i cant wait to get back to the school and try again.
@LZLandingZone Good to be not the only crazy one trying to get into EOD this year, I am joining the USAF tho. My timetable to leave is set in august. also. Haven't confirmed with my recruiter if they booked me the spot yet, but with an 88 on the ASVAB I should be good.
EOD school -you must be america, try The Felix Centre, School of Ammunition, United Kingdon.IEDD not the easy things in life, like simple lumps of HE and carrier shells.
That's odd that you MUST be American considering I am in the school right now and we have foreign students. No they do not get the same class we do but they get the badge in the end.

EOD was definitely one of the greatest parts of my life. Time down range and back home will teach more about yourself and others than you'll get in 10-times of civilian life. I miss the people and work.
LOL good luck guys. out of the 33 that went to basic with me for this job. 16 failed the bomb suit test. then only 6 made it past Redstone Alabama. and now only 3 are left here in eglin. me and another are about to graduate in about a month. the third got got a second chance at the school.
all im going to say is the instructors teach ALL that u need to know.. just pay attention if u dont show effort they will drop you like a rock!
Hey guys I ship out May 20th to Ft. Jackson. 9wks basic and then I'm headed to Redstone Arsenal for a year of EOD training. Message me on here, anyone else who's going for EOD this summer. I'll see you at Redstone! Hooah!
