Thats what I thought as well but certain parts of the song insinuate other wise. Like the "almost shamed to tell , he said give so I gave" bits make me think it was about an assault, that started as a date. Either way its a beautiful song

Really enjoying this new-to-me artist, and diggin her alot. Thanks for providing info on what is known of her life. She lived through an amazing group of era's.
