There was a knock off made for TV movie with that name back in 1992 also. It was not based on the Ishi books by Theodora Kroeber or any serious research and was totally fictionalized. Even had a scene where Ishi gets laid. Variety review of "The Last of His Tribe" said the film featured the "most gratuitous sex scene in the history of cinema." Very different than the documentary "Ishi, the Last Yahi."

Got to give credit to Ishi.  Ethnicity/culture should always be important in a persons life.

The movie starring Graham Greene as Ishi is heartbreaking. The Last Of His Tribe is the movie. I purchased it from amazon. The movie brought me to tears.

I would love to see it, but paying $35 for a movie to be posted from overseas in this day and age is a bit much. Very sad, I have read up all I can. Maybe after 16 years the film could be compressed and released on you tube?

Thank you for your comment. Ishi was such a remarkable representative of his people. He made the transition from aboriginal America into the twentieth century without losing his own sense...of who he was...a Yahi.
