gran canción! ver a estos artistas no es solo acordarse de marvin y jackie, sino de todos lo que de una forma u otra forman parte de la creacion de la mejor musica... crearon el rock!!! el blues y el jazz.
@mrswindon: We can all speculate on that too and ask the same question. Marvin was on drugs, which meant he was no longer the same person, as for his aged father, who knows? Memory loss, paranoia? Probably felt threatened. Sad, but things happen and we can't take them back...tragic all the same ):
Eu não sabia que essa música era dos Commodores e que Lionel Richie tinha sido dessa banda; muito menos que esse foi o único sucesso deles após a saída de Richie... mas gostei dessa canção! Eles até a cantaram um dia desses no Programa do Jô ao vivo, desse mesmo jeitinho, todo mundo inteirão! Cara, foi demais!
song dedicated to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson who coincidentally died in 1984. This song won her only Grammy for best for the Best R & B Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals.
One of my all-time favorite songs by them. I love it. This is how REAL music is suppose to sound. Today's generation would never understand. 80's music & style at it's best :)
I,m a fulltime night shift worker driving from place to place . I often play this on my cars CD player. Helps me to get through the night and keeps me motivated. Its a very inspiring R+B hit that is always gonna be a timeless classic. I,m going to work soon and gotta say its gonna be a long night ........... Its gonna be all right on the NightShift.
I'm 16, and I wish music now a days, were like this right here. That are not just beautiful, but have a meaning too. I honestly believe that music like this, just may never made anymore, in sense that we are moving into a new (not necessarily improved) era of music. Despite what may happen to music, talent like so, shall never be forgotten. It may be imitated, but can never be duplicated.
I found this hauntingly beautiful back then and still do today. A most beautiful song, and recording sung, played, and arranged superbly. Listening to the words combined with the very haunting performance both vocally and musically gave me chills back then and still does. Thanks so much for posting.
A great tribute to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson 2 of The greatest R+B talents. Will they do something for Michceal Jackson or rewrite this song for him. We just wait and see.

Fantastic song, dedicated to Marvin Gaye and Jackie Wilson! Even without Lionel Ritchie, The Commodores did a wonderfull song like this one, and a great album, in 1984.
nothing like soul music...it goes thru your heart....like a electrical shock....Being in the moment...Love, feel, hurt, pain, love the warmth of it all....Julie
This is one of those great 80's songs... and IMO the 80's music of those days had way more soul behind them than todays... they need to bring back that genre somehow.
I could not agree more! And this is not just a generation-biased opinion (yes, I am 40 years old, but nevertheless...). 80's music had more passion and experimentation than much of today's music. For pop music, the 80's was a renaissance. And for you metal-heads out there (I'm still one of them!), who can deny the quality of those metal power ballads of that era! I hear absolute perfection in just about all of the 80's sub-genres. Hell, I even listened to rap back then! Remember "White Lines"?
This song reminds me of my dad who is currently unconscious in critical care after a random seizure fit, sending all strength and positivity to him now....
What alot of people don't know is how much great music these people gave us! From the 60s through the 80s this country had many great soul groups and singers like James Brown (the teacher!) as well as people like Otis Reading, Sly Stone, and Marvin Gaye, who was not only a great musician but a peace maker. His music was soothing to the soul and is needed alot today. All of these people are gone now and are badly missed-God Bless all of them for all their contributions to this countries music!
Great song and video! One of the best I have ever seen and I am now 60 and watched Marvin, and Jackie in their prime. They were the voices of this nation in their day!
Was lucky enough to see Jackie Wilson live in 1963. The power and energy he had was really something. He was a talented singer and I'll never forget how his performance electrified me.
I have always loved and cherished this great song... and it became doubly meaningful after I learned who Jackie Wilson was:
"An American singer and a 1987 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee. Known as Mr.Excitement... During a 1975 benefit concert, he collapsed on-stage from a heart attack and fell into a coma for nearly nine years. He became one of the most influential soul artists of his generation." Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him on their list of the 100 Greatest Artists of All Time.
