  • Tunes: Rab's Wedding / John D. Burgess. Dance set: Highland Laddie march on/off, dance tune "Marquis of Huntley's" for the Highland Fling. Exit first tune I'm too old to know, last tune is "Jenny Dang the Weaver." While I hate the stratosphere pitch of the recent decades (I have either perfect pitch or close enough and I imprinted on years-years-ago below-b-flat), still this band has great sound.

  • :)

  • Sorry for the delayed replies. The tartan is the Cameron of Erracht tartan that comes from the pre-almagation of the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders with the Seaforths. Only the bands keep the old regimental tartans since the regiment went to the Government tartan (Black Watch tartan). The pipes are tuned to the key of B (Not sure if sharp, flat or just B) which is why there is the drone there. Most instruments are tuned to C. That is why horses love being near pipes.

  • Ist das Geile Mucke!! Entenpelle pur!

  • THANKS FOR YOUR KNOELEDGE BROTHER...i do get ahead of my self...my irish anecestors hold the rebel scotsmen in high esteem regardless of any "papel"stuff.......salute.....from the icy glen.....

  • @MrBeefaroo I think you mean 'Scottish Bagpipes', as that's a Scottish instrument, no other imitation looks or sounds like the Scottish instruments.

A flute is not a Bagpipe.

  • @segano1 The bapipes are the only instrument that is tuned in the key of B which is why the drone is present. All other instruments are tuned in the key of C.

  • My dad was in the Camerons (formed part of this regiment) ,taken prisoner at Tobruk 1942 by Rommels Afrika Korp, ironic this is in Koln, very proud.

  • My biggest regret in life is that I was not born Scottish.

  • Im proud of being part of the Army

  • AIM STRAIGHT FOR THE HAGGIS.

  • I presume that this is actually the 1st Batallion Pipes and Drums, Royal Regiment of Scotland? Several major consolidations occurred within the British armies in the first several years of the new millenium.

  • @bcschmerker

I think this was filmed around about the time that the new battalions were still working out what they should be wearing. Officially the RRS was formed in March, 2006 but the band are indeed wearing the uniform of The Highlanders, not RRS. However, they do have the RRS cap badge.

The 1st Battalion, RRS are infact the Scottish Borderers and not the Highlanders, so this cannot be the Ist Battalion RRS...if that makes sense.

  • @Backs4more It is 4 RRS, the Pipe Major is wearing the Stag Head badge of the Gordon Highlanders on his sleeve, and the pipes are in Gordon tartan.

  • @24michiganironbrigad .

And the Gordon Highlanders emblem is also on the drum.

  • @24michiganironbrigad The tarton worn by the bank is not that of the Gordons. It is actually the Cameron tartan known as the Camerson of Erracht tartan.

  • @MrCddlbunny sorry that is band not bank. Helps to read what is written before posting and making one like a dictionary is not nearby.

  • great video thanx

  • in the beginning we are all vikings.

  • long live Scottish traditions!

  • my father and uncles have been tamburine in their life and they loved the Scotland as a myth. I grew up with this sound in my hears and in my heart.

now the tamburines have gone to their Highland.

    Raise up Great tamburines!

    Thanks Scotland!

    (and thank cousin Ireland)

  • CORK IRELAND .

  • IRISH INVENTED THE SCOTISH CONCEPT FCK U WISETRUCKER FCK U SELF CNT.

  • @fenbogle Other way round Taig, the Irish had nowt to do with Scotland before the Great Famine. Irish culture is a 19th century invention based off of Scotland's during the Gaelic revival period of 1890~1921.

'Irish' is a 16th century papal name imposed by Pope Leo X.

The North of Ireland was historically the land of the Scots (hence the first writer to call N.Ireland/Hibernia as 'Scotia' was Isidore of Seville in the 6th century).

Scotland was never the land of the Irish however.

  • GRIND YOUR POWDER BOI OPEN FIRE.LET SHOT FLY MY HIGHLAND BROTHERS.SEND THEM THE AXE AND VICTORY SHALL COME.

  • Fuck the Irish give me the jocks any day.

  • what is the last tune called?

  • @epicbassdude not sure some sort of of reel

  • @StrathendrickPiper thanks :)

  • Highlanders as in lacking oxygen and makers of noise,,,Give me a good Irish pipe any day...And may the Scott piper stay behind Hadrian's Wall.

  • @bweber2k Give us the good uilleann pipes any day

  • @kingbillythethird Uilleann Pipes = Properly called 'Union Pipes' to celebrate the union between Scotland and England - invented by a London based musician who took a set of Scottish Pipes and created a softer, bag-less variation of the original Scottish set in the 1800s, then later hi-jacked by the Irish republicans who Gaelicised them from 'Union Pipes' to 'Uilleann Pipes' during the Gaelic revival period of 1890~1921 and claimed them as Irish ever since.

  • @segano1 I make uilleann pipes, you're off on the origins. They came directly from "pastoral pipes" which arose immediately after the baroque Oboe. Uilleann's were gentlemens' instruments that cost a year's wages for a laborer in the 1700's and 1800's when Scottish pipes were still primitive. Want to see the main bass drone bore proportions of a WW1 Henderson Scottish pipes? 1850's uilleann pipes. Scotland is important to the uilleann pipes but in a different way than you think.

  • i completely disagree, the noise of the scottish pipes and drums make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up everytime! As a scotsman it is a thing of beauty

  • THE HIGHLAND IS MY LAND,THE LORDS LIGHT SHINE FROM THE BLADE OF YOUR BATTLE AXES.

  • Great Video, i love it

  • no midgits or fat women thats what makes the difference. you have to look like a highlander as well as sound like one. hail hail..

  • @finnbarrhagan thats because midgets and women can't tab with a Gimpy or tripod! My Brother was QOH P&D's and I think for a short while when they became 4th Btn RRS. Then he had to go work for a living :-)
