  • I've been watching this video for years and still am always impressed

  • 1:22 is such a sick sweep

  • The man is a beast

  • Sick

  • pwnage

  • sweet crucifix roll and chokes he is awesome

  • @ bjapan96.Bro Marcelo Garcia is a beast and Eddie is like his biggest fan and utilizes his techniques all the time. Tell me if you're such a hard core 10th planet practitioner where do you think Eddie got the "Marcelo to the back" or the "Marcelo pass" and why do you think he named them that? Think about it!

  • @ bjapan96. Bro you are TOTALLY mis-representing Eddie. I know Eddie personally and he has told me many times how Marcelo would school him any day. There's a video on YouTube called "Eddie Bravo on Marcelo Garcia". I highly suggest you watch it! Also you need to get something straight Eddie beat one Gracie ONE time not "Gracie's" (as in more than one).

  • Contrary to popular belief, it's not just about the rubber guard and the twister. As a 10th planet practitioner I can tell you the only time that Rubber guard is effective is if you can break the guys posture down. And if you're training with experienced grapplers you'll find out very quickly that it's not that easy to do.

  • It's a diverse open minded system comprised of techniques and methods that have proven their value on the mat by some of the most respectable practitioners on earth.

  • As a student of both Eddie Bravo and Relson Gracie I can tell you that you have to have a solid grasp of the foundations of Jiu Jitsu however these techniques are constantly evolving and so the 10th planet curriculum is comprised of techniques from all sorts of places in the JJ world and not just the ones Eddie founded

  • Who else wants to see Marcelo vs the best in judo, sambo and catch wrestling in a no-gi tournament?

  • Damn, I can't believe how good is Marcelo Garcia.

  • as a white man I'm never gonna get white grappling shorts...

  • I have seen this guy compete at Abu dhabi twice. Both times he crushed everyone.

  • @jammin1881 He's done ADCC 4 times actually. 03, 05, 07, and 09. He got Gold in his weight division in 03, 05, and 07, taking silver in 09. In the open weight division he got Bronze in 05 and Silver in 07. Out of his 27 ADCC matches, he's had 23 wins with 21 by submission, including 9 Rear Naked Chokes, 5 of his special Guillotine chokes, and 2 North/South Guillotine chokes. Crushing everyone is a great way to put it.

  • @WhtMike2006 damn dude you just pretty much went and copied and pasted marcelo's wikipedia lol.

  • @fawaz3846 I went through a period where I studied Marcelo's every match over and over... I did go back and re-check a couple matches to make sure, and I could be wrong on a couple things, but I think I got most of it right. Wiki actually has some things wrong lol.

  • @WhtMike2006 well if i ever need any more marcelo info i'll got to whtmikepedia from now on lol.

  • bjapan96 ,eddie had videos saying marcelo would crush him, there all over youtube. If your a bjj fighter you know marcelo is supreme compaired to eddie anyday of the week.wtf are you talking about eddie is a black belt in your words 2 jiu jitsus?wtf does that even mean?he has a blackbelt under Jean Jacques Machado and started his own system but did not give himself a black belt if that's what you mean by 2 black belts.he beat royler gracie at abu dhabi 8 years ago.look up marcelo's career wins.

  • not good enoug

  • Nice, he did a RNC without even taking the guys back.

  • it's funny how he looks like that kid from WOnder Years!

  • wait does marcelo teach at his school in NYC??

  • marcelo chokes are vicious.

  • What was the submission at 1:47?

  • @0FIGHTER0 Marcelo pulls the other guys arm back with his legs, it is either a shoulder or elbow lock depending on individual flexibility etc, almost a cutting armbar with his legs.

  • @0FIGHTER0 Garcia had the other dudes arms wrapped up in his legs and armbarred the guys right arm. Garcia is a grappling god....

  • @spyfawkes yea he was in the crucifix position and looked like he got a variation of the armbar with only his legs; the guy is the best of the best!

  • @gussk8e Bruce Lee did that in Enter the Dragon. I always wondered if it would actually work on somebody.

  • Eddie Bravo mis polainas

  • @ghotter my name is carlsongracieteam because i train in sport jj under his team. he doesnt train the helio gracie way he didnt even like helio once again your knowledge shows i will give you the bio. helio's sons, grandsons feel helio created the sport and that is should be used for self defense only, carlos gracies side, carlson, carlson jr, grandsons. feel the sport can be used for sport and self defense. they is a huge conflict in there family once again ud know this if you had a purple belt

  • im a purple under Miguel Torres and we are under Carlson branch of bjj .

  • im a purple under Miguel Torres and we are under Carlson branch of bjj . and i agree with what you are saying most people dont know that also carlson made alot of great fighters like miguel Torres, maurilo bustamante, ricardo liboro, mario sperry, luis duarte and ..........stephen bonnar lol the last one doesnt count tho

  • @ghotter brock trains jj everyday in a gi, silva is black belt under the nog's and has never use rg show me a fight where he has, gsp's jj is great he is a bb under Renzo in new york, bj penn isnt even a champ and he has used the rg in 2 fights maybe and has had no success what so ever and has never finished a fight from rubber guard or even threatened anyone from it. keep trying the truth will come to you sooner or later. eddie doesnt even love jj, he loves music. that is a fact.

  • @ghotter plain and simple here is rubber guard in a small paragraph, when you assume the rg your hips are gone you have virtually know hip movement at all. the hips are everything in bjj every world class bjj player will stress the hips. second. rg offers 3 very low percentage submissions and 2 extremely low percentage sweeps. subs: omoplata, gogoplata, locoplata, sweeps: stack attack, flower sweep. ok those all work 2% of the time. now how many fights have you seen finished from the rg? 1-2?

  • @ghotter and im a gracie dick rider this is where you show your lack of knowledge again i dont even train in gracie jiu jitsu i train bjj. and they are very different as gjj is more self defense oriented and bjj is more for sport. and me and you both know you have literally no knowledge. I dont train 10th jj and i can almost gurantee i no more from there system than you and options from the rg.

  • @ghotter I know alot about the 10th planet jj i do my research before trash talking. i Know mission control, new york, zombie, twister side control, chill dog, i know all of the basic positions from rg. and Roger fights mma and so does Ralek. both are undefeated Roger just dominated kevin randleman this year. and if you know the gracie system then lets talk like i said name some positions and some options from it and i will fire back with my knowledge.

  • @ghotter being open minded and being naive are to different things.. if Roger gracie can use a basice grappling system and be the best p4p grappler in the world where no ufc/mma fighter could touch him on the ground. them it is good enough for me. and the guard is dead article is something eddie bravo devised. and yeah the guard is dead huh? tell me one current ufc champion that uses the rubber guard? frank edgar? gsp? a. silva? shogun? lesnar? yea the best mma fighters are 10th planet gurus...

  • @ghotter and i can promise you never had a purple belt in gracie barra , because i promise you dont even have a basic knowledge of the guards where each guard has 10000+ options from it if you do lets talk, z-guard, x-guard, quarter guard, half guard, deep half guard, de le riva guard, shoulder guard, turtle guard, spider guard, butterfly guard, to rely on one rubber guard is dumb. there is so much variety and you will never have any success with one guard. there is so much in bjj to choose from

  • @ghotter To be honest look at the bjj world champions... tell me how many of them regularly use rubber guard? look at the mma world champions all of them. How many of them finish guys from rubber guard on a regular basis? which one of them uses rubber guard? To be honest none of them. I am glad you use 10th planet hope you become a good grappler but I have never been finished in a rubber guard it is extremely easy to pass and i have far to much experience to be caught in anything from rg.

  • @ghotter what does eddie's bb under jean jacques have to with rubber guard i can have a black belt in karate but it doesn't mean i can invent a whole new effective striking.. and ryan hall uses 50/50 guard, cobrinha is a gi guy who uses guard passing and does compete no gi but never uses rubber guard. Jeff glover uses deep half guard and grapplers quest is not a very prestigous bjj tournament it isnt bjj at all it is grappling wrestlers, sambo can enter it, that is like me saying i win naga...

  • @ghotter now think about how many mma fights you have seen with a traditional guards where you have many many high percentage subs. to be honest wat works is the basics. rubber guard is cool so is de le riva guard, upside down guard, spider guard, etc. and i am a little guy im very athletic and have a very active guard but im going to stick to what works. if a basic game is good enough for roger gracie the best p4p it is good enough for me good luck with 10th planet hope it works out for you.

  • @ghotter bro rubber guard does nothing but breaking your opponent down and it gives you 3-4 low percentage subs. locoplata, omoplata, gogoplata, and a neck bolt. and i have been in the game for a while to be completely honest not being big headed u will know what works and what doesnt, things like z-guard, x-guard, quarter guard, turtle guard realy dont work and they have a lot more option. think of mma for instance how many mma fights have you seen finished from the rubber guard? 1-2? continued

  • yhea, even eddie said marcelo is light years ahead of the rest of the pack. garcia makes black belts look like white belts with 1 stripe. love garcia, too, nicest guy ever.

  • @Notengoespacio go ahead and use rubber guard in a street have fun when u wake up after getting slammed... and if u use rubber guard u will never place in a significant tournament ever. the best u might do is place at naga or grapplers quest in the beginner division... in the advanced u run into blue belts who know better and in expert u run into purple belts plus who make rubber guard look stupid

  • @Notengoespacio dude u would never catch an experience person in a gogoplata or omplata... triangle maybe.... but they just do what talking on the phone so they can breathe step over your head and pass to north south.... and all rubber guard does is break the guy down u have 3 options for submissions 3 options for sweeps and limited movement it is they easiest guard to pass because ppl cant mover there hips in it. and i train under carlson gracie jr not carlos gracie.....

  • @carlsongracieteam no one technique works everytime, thats a given. but eddie has some effective techniques, just as with anything else it takes a lot, lot, of practice. my rubber guard isnt that good, but my half guard is instant death, for higher belts also. even though its simple lockdown and sweeps, ive devoted myself to working the technique so its pure instinct,

  • @Notengoespacio dude the rubber guard does nothing but break the guy down. and it limits ur movement so much that u cant even attack with anything significant. u have to be able to move ur hips freely in guard. and i was watching bellator mma and a guy pulled rubber and got picked up and slammed on his head. out cold... there is a reason 10 planet has never produced a champion none of there guys have even placed in a significant grappling tournament. the best it gets for them is grapplersquest..

  • omg he is insane

  • @Whtmike2006

are you the same whitemike from SF?

  • why do i spend a lot of time reading peoples asses when watching jiu jitsu? i dont think its homoerotic, a lot of people say it is. seriosly, i love it, but i hate reading dudes asses, sorry, its just the truth.

  • marcelo is just a freak of nature. normal people can't contend with that

  • what sweep is that at 1:25??? anyone know????

  • its a goofy version of a wrestling takedown were you control the same side leg and arm and then drive that way. normaly your on top driving with your chest, but marcelo is here on the bottum using his legs to finish the sweep.... very innovative, i dont think anyone has claimd that move yet.

  • @shadowthis69 i think that was the " i feel his weight in a bad spot" sweep

  • A version of one of Marcelos butterfly armdrags. See how the guy posts his left hand out and steps with his right leg to stop the armdrag? Marcelo wraps his left arm around the same leg, and rolls backward into the space the armdrag created. Looks like he used some kindofsortof x-guard hooks to elevate him. If it's not in his book, something very similar is.

  • what type of mat is that?

  • Yes sir I do. It's been worth every penny so far. The site is constantly expanding. there is a free trial period for anyone. U should check it out.

  • what did he tap that guy in the white with? i thought he was goin for a crucifix, but it looked like a sort of reverse arm bar with his legs.

  • Yes, he took the crucifix position from the turtle. Then he rolled over top of the guy, seemed to be working for a crucifix/RNC combo he's been doing a lot. But he kept seatbelt control, got his legs over the elbow joint, and arched and pulled his legs down for the straight armbar. It's an odd sub, and takes a lot of "feel". check out MGinaction website if you want. It;s great, and there's a free trial period.

  • its in the X guard book! ha no plug intended

  • nice!but that guy never even tried to pass the guard he alwas walke right in to him.marcelo never tried to get him into the guard and pushed hisself back to start attacking by sitting up.very smart. but the other guy didnt think much.marcelo is tuff wish i could roll once.

  • Never on his back, always creating angles.. always pushing the pace. attack, attack, attack - no can defend!

  • 0:57 "I love you too..." LOL

  • look at that transition after the hand drag

    this is slick!

    this guy is very slick

    stop with this drysdale bullshit

marcelo beat him more than once i think

  • Awesome!!!!!!!!!!

  • i rolled with marcelo on the weekend of june 27,28 2009. im telling everyone that HE is the truth of BJJ. i have never encountered a person of his caliber. ive fought, pro football players, pro wrestlers, special forces... and so on, and i have never felt the energy of a world class athlete like him. you can say whatever you like but until you roll with him you can only guess at the strength and technique this rare human being has. it was an honorand privelege to train under him.

  • drysdale is also really good and outweighs him by 50 lbs

  • wrong, more like 20 idiot, though weight was a major factor in the match, but then again thats what absolutes for so no excuses..... Their both amazing, you win some you loose some.

  • um dumbass garcia weighs aroudn 154 lbs and drysdale walks around at 215 and since it is a "absolute" there is no weight cutting moron so if you're going to comment over someone else and try to make them look bad make sure you're facts are true cause you just made yourself look like more of a retard.

  • You are a huge moron, I'm a competitor and Fighter myself and I know what I'm talking about, drysdale and Garcia has competed on 3 occasions, Garcia though he's competed at a similar weight you've posted he's said to be 170 walk around, and Idiot me stating it was a "absolute" division is more than enough indication their is no weight cutting.... if you knew anything you'd know he competes in the 66Kg to 76Kg division and won many times at 82kg which is 180 lbs, so yea who's facts are true????

  • WEISSTEA, Garcia weighs about 175

  • to bad marcelo has destroyed drysdale twice before that. marcelo is winning the ADCC open weight this year(unless fedor is in it, then it's harder)

  • sheet...!!!

  • he just makes it look so effortless

  • best ever!

  • yankeefan369 are you high?marcelo is the best ever, he doesnt need eddie bravos 10th planet bjj.marcelo has the best pure grappling ever, xguard and back control over rubber guard anyday.

  • @xabovethisworldx nah i think your high

eddie has beaten some of the best ever

    beating the gracies

and since eddie is black belt in both jiu jitsus

and marcelo has a black belt in only 1 jiu jitsu

    i think eddie wud win

  • @bjapan96 sorry but eddie would get owned anyone who knows bjj would agree. rubber guard was effective when it was relatively new but everyone has a good idea whats coming now. marcelo is on a different level along with demian maia and jacare sorry eddie bravo's ship has sailed

  • @rockcrave i know i do bjj and 10th planet

but for me 10th planet helps me beat guys that have been their 3 years longer than me

  • @bjapan96 you must be trolling.

  • is this the video Eddie Bravo was referring to?

  • I was thinking the same thing. Bravo was amazed.

  • Look at 1:30 when he does the "smash pass" (baby wipe) and puts his left foot over. Opponent grabs, and MG goes right to a crucifix-rnc position.

  • dude i rewound that about 10 times...amazing fluidity

  • This looks familiar - is this gym in Atlanta? I had friend that rolled with him there. Garcia is unbelievable!

  • Comment removed

  • I don't know if I have to laugh or cry

  • sooooo crazy

  • 1:23 - 1:50 So SLICK.

And that guy in the white knows what he is doing and still gets worked...

  • That floor trps me out. I keep thinking they are rolling on the floor of a newly painted parking garage or something.

  • Watching Garcia is so depressing, I almost flagged it as 'inappropriate'! I bet the guy in white would tap me. That's what makes watching Garcia so amazing!

  • Guy in white probbly black belt 4 sure and he`ll tap you if you anythink less than black belt.. But I agree get`s depressing to watch MG, for most or (all of us) something we can never become..

  • why is he a black belt for sure? no disrepect towards marcelo he one of the greatest ever...but i think a blackbelt wouldnt get tapped 5-7 times in 3 minutes by him, if so, really shitty black belt.

  • True, very well may be so...

  • usually black belts are more careful....they approach slowly..like a snake...this guy sort of dives head-first and is not too mobile, I don't think he is a beginner, but not black belt either...

  • The only people that have beat him recently are significantly larger than him and among the best of the best.

No one has tapped Rickson and he doesn't compete anymore, so you're right, he probably wouldn't tap Rickson, but I'm certain if they rolled it would look a lot like Marcelo against Renzo.

  • marcelo's grappling is like anderson silva's striking, so smooth and flawless. Such an honor watching him, even on youtube.

  • Wow at 1:55 he switched his legs and performed an armbar using only his legs slick and sick !Marcelo is da man!

  • what was that he did around 1:55?

  • when his arm came out it was in a keylocked position. he wrapped it with his right and propped the elbow against his left thigh, im pretty sure

  • are you stupid. i suppose all the aforementioned pll are undefeated too.

  • marcelo was born to do jiu-jitsu! never ceases to amaze me watching him roll.

  • anything you do he knows, and he does the counter faster. how are you supposed to beat this guy?

  • ive seen white belts move more than this guy... maybe hes just overwhelmed by rolling with marcelo... i know i would be.

  • i know its marcelo but where is your choke defense?is he just to good?

  • With Marcelo the answer is always...YES he is just WAY too good. Thats just the way it is.

  • yea marcelo + choke attempt = you tapping or going to sleep. he makes rear naked chokes look childishly simple against some of the best grapplers in the world

  • i don't think it has anything to do with the choke as much as with his skill in maintaining the back position. He obtains and holds the back better than almost any competitor. remember, position, then sumbission :) LOL

  • if you notice, he locks up the rear naked before he actuallly attains the full hooks. He actually does that it almost every fight

  • think I've just cum

  • What the hell was that first submission he did?? Was it a guillotine with one leg over the dudes head or what?

  • Peruvian Necktie variation. Nasty!

  • nah thats a guillotine with his leg over

  • so beautiful to see small non sterioded quiet man use pure technque he is a role model for young grapplers, unlike many tito ortiz wannabe's.

  • watch 1:18 after they butt heads. marcelo turns a failed armdrag attempt into a sweet butterfly sweep, goes for the pass and then gets on the guys back backwards and then goes into a crucifix. insane

  • one word sum up marcelo: Legend

  • I saw that and i've been practising it. nice sweep
